This was just announced on Fomos. I'll be attending so I thought I'd give anyone a heads up who has the chance to watch it on the OGN Channel (it's most likely to be broadcast.) They're doing a special event during the lull between the end of Winners League and the beginning of Proleague Round 4.
[EDIT]
I was going off of fomos' calendar and there was no Zerg line up hence the lack of it in the OP. Thanks to infinity21 for the translation!

+ Show Spoiler +
The top players representing the three races will battle it out for the pride of their respective races.
Game channel OGN and e-sports specialist website Fomos will host the “All-Star Race Battle’ which will involve the top players from Terran, Zerg, and Protoss smashing heads with their pride on the line.
This ‘All-Star Race Battle’ is taking place to carry on the upbeat atmosphere from the recent success of Winners League to the 4th round, and to relieve the thirst for games of e-sports fans during the downtime during post season.
And so, each pro team’s coaching staff, related personnel, and pro gamers have shown strong interest in this idea despite their full calendar with vacations and workshops, allowing for this dream match to become reality.
‘All-Star Race Battle’ will determine the best race in Starcraft with games between 4 players from each race with Terran vs Zerg, Zerg vs Protoss, and Protoss vs Terran.
For Terrans, there is ‘Ultimate Weapon’ Lee Young-Ho (Flash), ‘Miracle Boy’ Shin Sang-Moon (Leta), ‘Genius’ Lee Yoon-Yeol (NaDa), and ‘Sniper’ Jin Young-Soo (Hwasin) will play.
The Zergs will have ‘BonJwa’ Ma Jae-Yoon (SaviOr), ‘God of War’ Park Sung-Joon (JulyZerg), ‘Chance Park’ Park Chan-Soo (Luxury), and Park Myung-Soo (Yellow[arnc]). For Protoss, ‘Revolutionist’ Kim Taek-Yong (Bisu), ‘Monster’ Do Jae-Wook (Best), ‘Commander’ Song Byung-Goo (Stork), and ‘All-Mighty’ Huh Young-Moo (JangBi) will play.
‘All-Star Race Battle’ will air starting this Monday the 16th for 3 weeks every Monday at 6 pm at the Yong-San e-Sports Stadium and will be broadcasted through OnGameNet.
On the 16th, the game will start between Terran and Zerg, the 23rd will follow with Zerg against Protoss, and the last match on the 30th will be Protoss versus Terran.
All games are best of 7, first to win 4, winner goes on format. The starting players will be determined by the hosts, and the winner can designate their next opponent. The maps will be from 9 maps from Pro League and Star League excluding Rush Hour 3. 2 additional maps will be removed by the starting players from both sides picking a map each.
Additionally, the 12 players will be given 200,000 Won for each appearance with an additional 200,000 Won for every win. In the event of an all-kill, there is an additional 200,000 Won for a total of 1,000,000 Won in prizes.
‘All-Star Race Battle’s producer Kim Jin-Hwan PD from OngameNet said, “I’d like to thank the pro gamers for being co-operative amidst their busy schedules. We will do our best to satisfy e-sports fans during this downtime through our ‘All-Star Race Battle’ and to make sure they enjoy this event with the pro gamers”.

Wow epic lineups. EPIC TvPs incoming!!!
|
Damn, this should be good.
|
Protoss EZ
With Jangbi, Stork, and Bisu playing PvT it will be a fucking massacre. The 4 best Protoss players right now > Flash + some scrubs + aging Nada (although his recent series vs Jangbi was great, it wasn't a win, and Jangbi wasn't playing 100% as far as I could tell).
|
Ok, seriously. How are the Terrans supposed to win this?
|
ooh. oooooooh. This makes me all warm and fuzzy inside =)
Bisu will lead the dragons to victory!
|
I have to agree with fanatacist. The Protoss line-up here is much stronger for TvP than the terran one. But, you know, the NaDa who showed up against JangBi in MSL could show up again. You never know.
|
|
|
damnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
how are they doing it? is it a bunch of bo1's? and does everyone play each other, or are the matches pre-determined?

Actually this is a event between all 3 races. I'll translate the article. Gimme like 30 mins
|
Even though I want Terran to win I doubt it'll happen, mainly cause out of the Terrans the only one that could really TvP worth a damn is Flash, Leta fails, Hwaisin fails, NaDa played well against Jangbi but is a tossup. The protosses all have over 60% winrate against Terrans -_-. Once again Flash is the only hope lol... This will be interesting though, whats the format? Do they all play each other or is it like Bisu vs. Flash, Leta vs. Stork... etc? Will it be just 1 game or a BoX?
|
flash allkill ez.
when is this?

No, looks like it's planned for 3 weeks or so from now, after WL is over, but before the next round of Proleague starts.

Sadly, I agree with this whole thing.

Why put Hwaisin? Hell if HiyA played Terran might have a chance, that guy is a beast vs. Protoss and took out Jangbi AND Stork recently.

I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for this

They should've brought Hiya instead of Hwasin. Go Terrans though!

Edit: I was afraid the zergs wasn't invited

There is, it's actually a 3 week event with all 3 races.
Week 1 is ZvT, week 2 is ZvP, and week 3 is TvP
Zerg lineup is Savior, July, Luxury, and Yarnc.
The format is Bo7, victor picks his next opponent.
EDIT: Damn ninjas.
|
I'm really excited to watch this. I'm hoping for a Terran upset, although it's probably gonna be a one sided massacre...
EDIT: No Jaedong in Zerg lineup?

Surprised Jaedong isn't in it, both both twins being there should make it hilarious.

Oh nvm just saw that there'll be all mu's awesome!

Seriously thats disappointing, where is Jaedong? They brought the best of the other 2 races but left out the Zerg destroyer? P>T>Z IMHO.

July can All-Kill Protoss on his own, don't worry.

Yeah, HiyA has quietly killed all six dragons except Bisu. Also, what, no Jaedong? Is Lecaf going on vacation or what? Downright disappointing, he seems to have picked up his ZvT again.
|
I wish Hiya was in there, this is still very exciting. I think a well rested flash is going to tear it up, should be fun.
|
|
whaaaaat no hiya, that guy is like 70% TvP
and what's up with this racism vs. zergs...
edit: nvm

Are they deliberately excluding Hwaseung/Lecaf players?
Both HiyA and Jaedong easily belong on their respective races teams.

Apparently they get 200000 Korean Won for each Kill they get, and if they AK, they get an additional 200000 Won.
Which translates to 130 bucks for each kill, and like 600 for AKing xD
|
IMO the zerg lineup should be something like jaedong, luxury, by.hero, savior
with by.hero there bisu is just ez
ps. PvT should be brutal
|
God this should be so much fun to watch. The only possible complaint I can even think of is that I wish they played on a different day of the week (playing the day after WL playoff days leaves like 4 days in a row of nothinggggg).

The Emperor of Terran should be there since he's the true leader. Sucks!
Should be see some awesome games though. I'm surprised Jaedong isn't invited, or he was and declined.

Oh that's right, July went 2-1 against Stork and lost once to Bisu on Medusa. Clearly he has no chance.

omg, the greatest race super fight again. most likely Protoss again. -_-
Leta, Nada and Hwasin are so screwed, they better take couple night classes from Flash. Advanced TvP 400 level.

God, I expect protoss to massacre everything in sight. There's a good chance that whoever gets sent out from the protoss race might just sit down and never get back up. I don't see the terrans standing any chance versus 4 ridiculous PvTers. Zergs might have a slight better chance, but Bisu can literally just wipe out all 4 zergs alone.

Terran definitely have a better shot than people are making this out to be. At first I was like "Oh shit Protoss easy win" but, if Terran can take out Medusa before the match? I mean, it's Flash, who is sick. Leta, who can pull out a win... Hwasin who beat BeSt... NaDa who's NaDa.
I mean. Ok. We're probably going to lose. But at least we'll beat Zerg! lol.

Why no Jaedong? o_0 Weird...
Hopefully the Terran team win both their matchups. The Zerg team should be an easy win; three pretty much S-class TvZ:ers and Nada. Protoss could be tough, but Flash could pull of an all kill on a good day, Leta has beaten 5 of the 6 dragons and Nada played great against Jangbi recently. Hiya would've been better than Hwasin.
My prediction (made mostly with my heart, not my brain):
TvZ 4-1 ZvP 4-2 TvP 4-3
|
pretty sure each race will take one series, P>T, T>Z, Z>P.
|
Hiya instead of Hwasin...ok really? Hwasin is great at all match ups, his TvP record is skewed because hes lost like 15 times to just Bisu, otherwise hes a strong all around player. I mean guys if youre gonna play the stats game, analyze what you're citing first instead of posting some tlpd nonsense, and really Nada doesnt know how TvP? He basically invented modern TvP and was arguably the more impressive player in his set vs Jangbi, the best PvTer.

I'm pretty sure most people want HiyA for his TvP over Hwasin's, have you seen both their TvPs recently? Obviously, Hwasin has a better TvZ, but tons of terrans have good TvZs and Flash and Leta have got that covered. The TLPD was about July's ZvP so I have no idea what you're talking about. Honestly, HiyA has taken down Jangbi/Stork/Kal and Free and straight up games. And has embarassed most other protosses (except his epic fail in the OSL) recently. Hwasin looked good for awhile, but now (I'm talking about his TvP) he's been pretty unsuccessful recently. Come on, NaDa obvious knows how to TvP, but he is going up against Jangbi/Stork/Bisu. He has a chance, but a slim one. Jangbi's PvT hasn't been his usual rape mode recently though.

I think the reason HiyA isn't in the Terran roster is because he isn't what you'd consider an "All Star", which is what I assume OGN wanted when they recruited the teams. More popular players = more hype = more viewers.
|
|
I'm not gonna miss this looks so amazing !! Bisu allkill!!
|
We aint need no JD cuz JZ in da house, Bisu is really the only toss that can beat him on their team and he has less than a 50/50 shot if its on a balanced map.
|
This is not fair for the zerg if they don't have Jaedong...

Zergs without Jaedong are just meh. I don't forsee zergs taking one at all, maybe sliding past the terrans maybe. Woulda been much more awesome with Jaedong though. =(

if savior and july play well, together they could take protoss themselves imho.
P.S. Savior, July, and Luxury have the highest zvp peak ELO's out of active players, so it's really not all that impossible.
|
although my favorite race is Protoss
i would love to see Mabonjwa, July and the zerg twins kick ass!
Zerg Fighting!

I'm pretty excited about savior v nada. Also no jaedong was the first thing I noticed....
Interesting to see the intersection between the players selected and the March Power Rank.

I was about to make the same comment, so...I agree.
I too think the "standard" results will prevail here...T>Z, Z>P, P>T.
|
Take heart Zerg fans! Zergs aren't that bad without Jaedong IMO. He's the best zerg of course... but they have a great shot against Terran and Protoss regardless.
Yarnc and Lux are Terran killers (Yarnc is especially consistent), July has taken some games off good terrans recently and imo he's 50/50 agains't Nada or Hwasin, and Savior is Savior. He's been playing well and could take a game off anyone in the lineup, Flash included. Especially because it's just a show match.
And Z>P. Duh easy rofl. If the Zergs snipe Bisu it's easy game... and anyone of them could do it. Not to mention it's JULYZERG.

How was he not "playing 100%"? That doesn't make any sense. It's a semi final that was extremely close. He was obviously playing the very best he could.
If you mean jangbi was nervous and not able to preform I don't by it. He had to be confident against nada going into game 1, I mean he has a freaking 70% win rate vs terran. Besides he had been in several semi finals before.
If nada prepares for this I expect him to do very well. And I expect him to prepare because this is the type of event nada is all about. For the fans.
Really weird to not see jaedong. I guess Lecaf (Hwaseung or whatever) couldnt work out a business deal with OGN to get him in the event. This has to be it, no way they would not include jaedong based on popularity or accomplishments. And I can't imagine any player not wanting to play in something like this.

You guys are putting way to much faith in protoss to take this. While I would enjoy a Terran Victory, the 4 zergs they brought right now are all on fire. July's PvZ is still god of war. One close loss to a hot Bisu is the only thing that made it stumble. Luxury is also on top of things.
Best and Stork are always questionable. Bisu and Jangbi are going to hope July doesn't taste the blood of one of them. July in a BoX vs a protoss is quite possibly the biggest rape ever produced.
TvZ is a tossup because it all depends on whether nada or savior wins to pick up steam.

Wow Savior vs Nada, thats great. No Jaedong sadly but i have faith in July and Savior, gogo.

Jaedong AND HiyA not in? Both on Oz? Probably not a coincidence. I bet Oz has got a vacation or couldn't get a deal in with the network, or something else interfering. Rather disappointing but oh well.
Nada vs Savior...I've got chills. Gonna be epic. Always love to see these two players clash.

whoa, this event looks SO cool
Glad BeSt is in the mix ^^ but what about Jaedong? The Zergs will be crushed without him!

No Jaedong is going to suck for zerg. Protoss is going to own everyone.

Wow, this is some epic shit. Looking forward to it! Why is JD being left out? Makes no sense, to me at least.

No Jaedong? Pretty odd if you ask me o_O?
|
|
The no Jaedong thing has to be due to team circumstances. Though I laughed a bit when people proposed Hiya amongst the terrans. Good record in winners league and pro league is not enough to be considered one of the best imo. If you go by that logic you could just aswell remove Stork for Free and July for Hyvaa. I hope you all see how that would be kinda wierd seing what they have accomplished recently and in the past in the starleagues.
|
Even without Jaedong the zerg lineup looks good to take this . Just Savior needs to bring his S - game for this event that is all . Between the twins's ZvT and July's and Savior's godliness this should be a walk in the park for the zergs .

Oh wow, this is going to be awesome :D Nice to have some starcraft still during this one month lull.

oh wow sounds like good news to me, KTF really needs a decent T to support Flash... and Ive lately felt like Oz didnt really need ForGG anymore with Hiya playing that good and maybe lomo kinda comin back Hopefully Oz will get themselves a decent Protoss..
Anyways back to topic kinda funny how all the Protoss are "PvT-Tosses" and no PvZ-Tosses aka free and kal I mean bisu is just pretty much excellent at everything but PvZ has been the only matchup that he hasnt completely pwned lately ^^ So Zerg should have a good chance of taking this but I have to agree that it doesnt look good at all for Terran versus P Seeing how they put up nada vs savior they might just put up Bisu vs Hwasin for old times sake and that would already be an autowin for P so.. (unless Bisu tries to humiliate Hwasin with like a 4 probe rush ^^)

He really should be in there to pwn protoss. His TvP is S-class, without a doubt. 68% wins and he has beaten all six ''dragons'' as well as Much (who has ridiculous PvT). Look at his last 10: 9 wins and 5 of those were against ''dragons''.

As always Flash is the last and ultimate weapon!
|
The protoss line up is too strong for them to lose They're good in all match ups, especially Stork and Jangbi's PvT that I think Flash won't be able to allkill and without Jaedong the zerg line up will struggle too even with the best ZvPer July
I just look forward to some great games, these showmatches are always entertaining

|
Why no Jaedong ? o,o Anyway i don't really know who i want to win. I'm a protoss player, i love Bisu but i don't really like Stork / Jangbi / Best. I like Nada but i'm not a fan of the others terrans... Zergs are definitly the vilains ( too bad there is no JD ). Seriously July, Lux, Savior, Yarnc they have all the killer look + cold face.

Not very much but he has been a strong player for a lot longer and at least he was in both starleagues a short while ago, also in Zerg's case there is no alternative (except obviously Jaedong) because all other Zerg who are currently strong are all pretty much newcomers (unless you wanna see ggplay... which i kinda doubt)
"but if Terran want to win both matchups" - you might be right but whoever decided who would be in which team surely didnt do it with the main goal "Terran will be the strongest race and will win"...

hiyas good but unproven. he has impressive wins but they come off an aggressive, slightly unusual style in bo1's. he will be significantly less effective as he gets more exposure. he doesnt belong with the other players in the event.

Yeah, they went with "Protoss will be the strongest race and will win".
Obviously in Race Battle the people who decided the teams *should* try to make the teams like that - so they have the best chance against the other two races.
But it's no grudge match or something, it's just a special event which goal is to attrack as many viewers as possible. And in that regard Hwasin >>> Hiya (not even speaking about Nada).

The lack of JD really really really hurts this
ZvP is essentially July v P now.
It SHOULD be JD instead of Yarnc (assuming they strive to have 4 players per team).

He probably didn't want to learn it - so far it's only been in the OSL, and Savior didn't qualify for the OSL. It's very possible Savior has never played a game on this map.

It's pretty dissapointing not having the best zerg in the game in a racewars

They should add one more player on each team. Jaedong for Zerg is the obvious choice...
Terran and Protoss seem a bit more difficult...
|
Unfortuantly i think Protoss will take this easy P is sporting an allstar lineup with 3 of their players in KeSPA top 10 and the other in the KeSPA top 20
Kim Taekyong (Bisu) - Best Protoss player in the history of Starcraft (arguable) Song Byungoo (Stork) - vT killer and a consistant KeSPA top 10 member Heo Yeongmul (Jangbi) - Consistant 2nd place finishes in MSL and GOM and on way to win MSL Do Jaewook (BeSt) - Macro beast. Dragon. Nuff said
The Terrans are sporting 2 very very scary players in Leta and Flash NaDa stepped up his game vs Jangbi in the MSL ro8~ and Hwasin is surging for a win in the OSL
Lee Youngho (Flash) - Ultimate Weapon. Killer of Dragons. Best terran on the pro scene right now Shin Sangmoon (Leta) - New face but absolutly kickass play. Second best Terran in the world Lee Yunyeol (Nada) - Who doesn't know NaDa? 3 OSL 3 MSL, but old... Jn Yeongsu (Hwasin) - Red Sniper good vs Zerg, showing some kickass play in the Batoo OSL
I am worried about the Zerg...>.< No Jaedong? I'm afraid this will be over soon
Ma Jae-Yoon (SaviOr) - He is playing with a shadow of his former skill. Still good..but not as good Park Sung-Joon (JulyZerg) - Calling it. SLUMPPP... Park Chan-Soo (Luxury)Park Myung-Soo (Yellow[arnc]) Both are too inconsistant but explosive players
|
Frankly it should be Jaedong not instead of Yarnc but instead of Savior or July. It should be fantasy or forGG instead of Nada probably.

Protoss is going to lose to Zerg imo. Bisu has to be in top form that day and beat both July and Savior, as I'm pretty sure July can all-kill if he beats Bisu.
Terrran is going to win vs Zerg 4-2, July's ZvT is pretty bad. + Show Spoiler +Luxury showed pretty bad ZvT vs Fantasy . Savior vs Nada is a tossup, and Yarnc's ZvT is decent.
Protoss will wreck Terran. All the Protoss players here have over 60% win vs T.

All you July-doubters out there, I will laugh and spit in your face when July AK's Protoss on his own. ^^

No Jaedong ;/
What is happening?
|
This lack of Jaedong on the Zerg team is scary, what the hell could possibly warrant that. Trading Yarnc for Jaedong please.
Either way July is going to curb stomp protoss team, and if Zerg had both July and Jaedong i'd pick them over P to come out with more wins.

I think July there fits well as he is the best ZvPer right now in the league. But Savior... With all respect, he doesn't really fit there. I think Yarnc deserves his spot. He's been doing really well recently (except of disappointing performance against ZerO).

ehm all star and no boxer wtf??? im sure many have said this but ill just say it again.... what a shame....
|
i do not understand the lack of jaedong.
where is the jaedong.
|
While i think the zerg will fair fine without him with July poised to get a double all kill and all I feel the zerg race is not accurately represented with the lack of Jaedong.

July is HUNGRY.
Savior can come, too.

Is there a link to this? I keep up on sAviOr interviews and I've never heard him say something like that.
Tears of the Moon is 5-5, balanced, for ZvT btw, so in retrospect it really isnt all that weird that he thumbed it down for the ZvT portion - its not like RH3 is in the pool.

Is there a link to this? I keep up on sAviOr interviews and I've never heard him say something like that. Tears of the Moon is 5-5, balanced, for ZvT btw, so in retrospect it really isnt all that weird that he thumbed it down for the ZvT portion - its not like RH3 is in the pool. did you really just claim a map is balanced solely from statistics off of a 10 game pool?

because z has no chance to win T___T

Why does everyone cite career statistics to demonstrate a player's skill in a particular matchup? Do you really think players like Bisu or Jangbi are anything like they used to be 2 or 3 years ago?
A more accurate citation would display their stats for the last year, or the last several months.

Lol, I just misread this as "All Star Rice Battle"

Zerg 2-0
July will AK Protoss by default and his mutas should be a cool watch vs Terran too.

savior vs nada would be epic....
hah

ok this does not seem too good for terran and zerg. terran has flash who obviously is a beast and leta and hwasin and nada who are not doing well at all recently. 4 protoss>flash
for zerg, WHERE THE FUCK IS JAEDONG
|
Yeah seriously, wtf? Yarnc/Savior but no Jaedong? Thanks OGN

There are two kinds of Zerg fans,
Type 1 "WHERE IS JAEDONG?!?!?1/1/1/?!/!1/ONE!/? This group of Zergs believes that there is only one player that can save their race from imminent trouncing so they call his name, hoping that their caps locked posts would serve as the batman spotlight for Jaedong. If Jaedong isn't in this thing, it's over, fucking GG. Might as well not have Zerg in the pool afterall.
Type 2 "_______ will rape all the P/T ez with his superior _______" This group of Zergs is rabidly delusional, saying that slumping or oldschool players will somehow dominate the top players of the current. July is the most obvious of these examples; JULY WILL ALL-KILL PROTOSS. Lol for real? I mean just because he cheesed and outsmarted Best in his first OSL EVER, and took a game off Bisu at some point in time, people are saying he will destroy Stork who just beat him, Bisu who just beat him and everyone, and other top Protosses? Please. Savior... Don't even get me started on this tragic story, it's really sad to watch from the side.

There are two kinds of Toss fans,
Type 1 "OMG BISU WILL CRUSH THIS FUCKN NOOB LOL EZ" Yes, Bisu is the best player of all fucking time. Not just present and past, but future as well. It seems impossible to these people that Bisu would lose anything, ever. When he lost the GOM Showmatch, it wasn't really a loss, it was a simple tactical mistake - even God makes mistakes sometimes. When by.hero beats Bisu, it's imba maps and history. When Savior beat Bisu, it was map again. When Bisu's gateway almost died when dropped, he deserved that win because DT was almost out! It's all true. Also, Stork is a pussy.
OneOtherType 2 "I fuckn haet bisu stork needs 2 be the #1 protoss evr" Just because Bisu has been trouncing Stork everywhere, winning medals and shit, that doesn't mean anything: a true champion gets 6 silvers in a row and keeps struggling through the nerdtears. It doesn't matter how often you fail to deliver as long as you keep at it, right!? Eventually a newbie on the scene might make it to the finals and then you can cheese him and rape him due to his inexperience. A true champion is quiet, geeky looking, and will never explain his losses away due to 11-2 map imbalance or emotions felt because of that loss. Stork is #1 forever. Jangbi supporters tend to fall in this category too, since their hero is on his way to losing to Bisu just as badly as Stork does. Also, Bisu is a douche.
PS: Just joking around, OneOther ;D I think you are pretty reasonable most of the time.

And you know that in snice january 08 he is 26-7, which is a 74% win rate. Those are better by a bit than any protoss PvZ. I'm not saying he's going to all-kill, but in this matchup he's the best player on either side.

how is July NOT a valid threat vs P? he has been a ZvP monster and still is, though yes i do agree Savior isnt that great but hes not a mediocre zerg anymore (like in massive slump phase) so stop with the rant that "omg old schoolers will fail cause they're extremely overinflated due to their past achievements"
|
Realistically, will he all-kill?
No.
End of story.
|
|
bisu might kill the other zergs but then SAVIOR will destroy him like he did in the msl and then the rest of the zergs will be like "omg gg bye"

epic but where is jaedong? Was he too busy? 500 euros for an all-kill, kinda low for pro gamers, though the won may have bigger value in korea.

Protoss line-up seems so god-damn scary.
Edit: What the heck? No Jaedong? Take out fake yellow and put Jaedong in!

I asked my friend at Fomos last night and she said Hwaseung doesn't usually participate in these kinds of show matches - also JD has individual events to prepare for and the head coach wanted them to have a period of rest. The team also has the play offs on Sunday so it's a pretty logical decision. Although poor Park Chansoo has two things to do in the next two weeks and he was playing last night for the zergs.
