Great article, thumbs up.

I lol'd at Stork's dragon though.

Bisu should stand (nearly) alone. Seriously... The only other guy that could come close to him in series against several other good players these days is Stork, the others are just about *as* good in some matchups (Kal PvZ, Best PvT/P...) while these 2 guys look kinda *complete*.

On the other side, what do we have now? A Protoss OSL winner and a Protoss MSL winner this year. That’s about it. If we would have 2 OSL and 2 MSL wins for Protoss then all this Dragontalk would be worth something. The next MSL/OSL better show another Protoss domination or this whole Dragonshit will just be remembered as that: Shit.

The only thing really mindblowing that happened was the *only-protoss* MSL.

"Insert rant about Best because he is boring and a choker here"
"Insert rant about Kal because he is inconsistent here"
"Insert rant about Jangbi because he hasn't achieved very much here (well silver, stork has gotten several and was laughed at :p)"
"Insert rant about Free because he also hasn't achieved very much here"

Seriously, before glorifing someone they should actually win something.

And btw: You said they brought us a good Year? How is mass PvP good in any sense of the word? Seriously...

Jaedong/Flash/July/FBH/Forgg/Effort/... I don't care shall rape em good this year.

Most probably i just had to watch to many PvP's this year...

So basically you are saying BeSt, Jangbi, Free, and Kal all suck and still bring us mass PvPs?

more like Best, Jangbi, Free, and Kal suck for bringing us mass PvPs.

Looking at the Savior --> Jaedong stats makes me hope for some sort of ZvP revival. Damn Bisu cursed the entire matchup.

that dragon stuff is really a bit stupid

i personaly see a huge gap between bisu and free e.g

jangbi & kal are both better than free if u ask me but still i think stork and bisu are something different and more special

actually particularly Bisu

Sorry to be nit picky :D

Yes, this post only refers to what happened in 2008. I'm currently working on a bit of Old Vod Night sort of material that only refers to MSL/OSL history for a bit of a "10 years of Starcraft" recap.

You weren't amazed at the level of starcraft played this year? Jaedong, Flash, Mind, Effort, and others are all so much better for having had to beat so many good protoss players. I would also rather see PvP than most players' TvT or ZvZ.

I actually agree with you about Free. I think Kal still has a lot of potential like Jangbi, but he hasn't been performing well. I wasn't about to dismiss the "6" dragons as a whole though because that is how they are known.

Nice write up, definaltey.
Let's here it for (P)Bisu!!
Legendary Revolutionist!!

I'm loving this new age, the Golden-Age of Protoss. I've been following pro-gaming Ever since 2K2, a little before then when I started competitive SC but the Sky OGN starleague final was the 1st ones I seen, Where(P)[Oops]Reach took on (T)BoxeR and of course dominated who was the player that was #1 for years in many leagues and events; (P)Reach was victorious 3-1.

(P)[Oops]Reach then became my favorite Protoss, then and always.
It's been a long time as a Protoss fan. I've seen many games, many users of each race come and go. The entire time, up until now, Protoss was almost considered 'weaker' or seemed weaker in league/event results, barely managing to get into Finals - or if they did, falling to stronger mechanics of Terran (i.e. the age of (T)NaDa or (T)iloveoov) or quicker macro strats of the Zerg (i.e. (Z)YellOw or (Z)ChoJJa).

There has been many times when there would be a Protoss user make it to a finals or two, but victory has been tough and often slips through the cracks ( (P)Reach v (Z)YellOw finals 2-3, more recently (P)BeSt[HyO] v (Z)July 0-3 ). We've only been given rare gems in the Protoss race, w/ artists or Executors that brilliantly shine and exert their control over the Templar. Players like (P)Nal_rA, (P)[Oops]Reach, (P)Kingdom. (P)fOru. Unfortunately, w/ as much skill as they possesed, we Protoss fans would be lucky to see 1 or 2 of them make it into the RO8 or better in starleagues and very rarely would you see a Protoss v Protoss final (i.e. (P)Nal_rA v (P)Kingdom mycube OGN starleague 2-3)

However, again, due to this Golden-Age of Protoss, a new light has been shown throughout the galaxy. A ray of Hope. A ray of Glory. With these new executors, they're displaying the true Power, The Art of Protoss.
(P)Pure Praise be to the Six-Dragons!
Good luck to (P)Bisu[Shield] // (P)BeSt[HyO] // (P)Dream.t)JangBi // SouL_GoojiLa

Rock sucks ridiculously badly, why should he be a dragon?

Ah you are completely right, I guess they happened so close together that I mashed them up since he was top 4 in both

I like seeing good games, except the good games from Best :p. None of theseplayers i would call bad, none of them are boring (except Best :p)... But:

1.
Aside from Bisu and Stork they are overhyped due to this Dragon stuff. Yes they are among the Top players for sure, but they are not some whole diffrent entity than the top players of the other races. Jangbi, Kal, Free and Best were all just strong in one of the 2 big leagues and good/decent in Proleauge (none was mindblowing if i got the stats right out of my head). It's not like they dominated Starcraft for an absurd amount of time.

2.
To much PvP.. TOOO much. TvT and ZvZ is also not exciting, well ZvZ at least does not take long ^^. I have no problems with tons of good Protoss players, i have a problem with tons of Protoss playing Protoss vs Protoss. I really begin to root just against the "Protoss" no matter what guy they are facing.

Did you see Much v Tazza? That was a really exciting PvP.

+ Show Spoiler +
Bisu v Pusan was an average game just because Pusan is slumping so hard right now.

Terrans dominated for 5-6~ years and you're jumping off liking any Protoss because of one year of good play from a few of them. :[
