The winner has been announced.

Check the "CJ Nation" TLFE on the right.

For every person that is happy that they won a shirt, there are 10 that are unhappy they weren't selected. I know a lot of big CJ fans are disappointed you won't be getting a shirt.

Here's your chance to get a shirt to wear when Savior plays his games in the current MSL!

I have bought a white large CJ shirt from one of the lottery winners. I will give this shirt away for free. Yes, no cost for you for the shirt, no cost for shipping in the United States. There might be a bit of shipping cost to other countries, but if you can't pay that we probably can work something out.

All you have to do is write an essay. The topic is open, but you should tie it into CJ or why you deserve the shirt. Heartfelt speeches, comedic skits, historical summaries, anything is game, as long as it's less than 500 words.

Details and Rules:

1. One post per essay contest entrant. Do not enter twice. If you won a shirt in the lottery, you cannot win here. Feel free to write an essay though if you want.

1a. Alternates for the lottery can enter, but you are limited to one shirt between the lottery and this contest.

2. 500 word limit. It can be shorter, or even a poem, but no more than 500 words please.

3. You may include one image, it can be placed anywhere in your essay. It can be a drawing, photo of you praying to a CJ altar, etc.

3a. You may also add a fan video, 2 minutes maximum.

4. It must be your own writing! Give your essay a title. If you include someone else's picture or video, please credit the source if its not obvious.

5. Topic is up to you, but suggested ones include why you're a big CJ fan and deserve the shirt, why you love a certain CJ player, etc.

6. Contest closes 12:00 KST 9/23 (~2 weeks from now), and shirt will be sent out after the winner is determined.

7. Judges will include myself, Plexa, semioldguy, and intrigue. We will vote on a winner.

8. Don't post your entries in this news post -- ENTER HERE.

Good luck, and we look forward to reading your entries!

Savior is my Messiah~ (Funny invented story according to the "Topic is up to you", I specify this from the beginning)

+ Show Spoiler +

It´s in you to believe in this story or not, I will not judge you if you don´t believe it, but in this essay I´m going to talk about the magic and mystical powers that Ma Jae Yoon aka Savior possesses (and thanks to God, sry, and thanks to Savior, he shared with me one time), teh CJ Entus titan and soul... powers who made me to rethink my whole lifestyle the day that they came to my house (event that i´m going to describe in this essay too)... so if he shared his powers with me (proof that i´m a big Savior, CJ Entus, and Starcraft fan) and you don´t give me that shirt, start asking for help to FHB, otherwise consider all of you dead...

Well... this story begins on a rainy and strange day... it was summer of 2006 when my old-shitty computer broke and I had to go to a hardware store to get a new one... so 2 days later I was arriving to my home with my new computer and wondering what I was going to do with such a new powerful engine and a brand new graphic card... and here came the morbid question... Should I keep playing Starcraft or start to enjoy the new graphic card and play some Cod 2, CS:Source, even AoE!? Oh Savior... I sinned that day...

That day I remember that I started to play some Cod 2 games with my brother, and Savior, I started to feel so empty in tha moment... "Where were the stimpacks?"... "And the imba scarabs killing my 75 SCVs?"... "And the random guys in the B.net screaming "MAPHACK!! MAPHACK!! YOUuu PIECE OF EUROTRASH!!11"?"... It was so sad...

After playing some Cod 2, I started to play AoE, trying to leave the memories of Starcraft in the past...And yup... I started to feel the same thing that before... "Where were my friends on B.net?"... "Muskets? Where´s my goddamn Gauss Rifle??"...

"Fuck off new games... But I am kinda bored of always playing Starcraft... even in this new computer..." And after saying such things I just went to my bed with a tear on the cheek and thinking about what should I do... I even thought about the possibility of STOP GAMING =((!!

But here´s when the magic of teh men, the Ma Jae Yoon, the goddam hive lord, Savior him-fucking-self, felt my problem and came to my house to help me!! Yup, believe it or not!! I remember that I was in bed very sad, and suddenly, I looked the window and ZOMFG!!:

Savior was in my window asking:

"Does something bad happen to you kekeke ;;?"

Oh God... it felt just like I won the lottery and beated Mondragon + Draco in a 2 vs 1 game at the same time... it was precious...

"Yeah Ma Jae, I don´t know if keep gaming or not , halp mee =´))"

I can´t describe what happen after that because Ma Jae asked to me later to not say a word about it, try to understand him, he just doesn´t want that everybody knows about what is he capable, otherwhise he would have a fucking church in his name in every country in the world... but I can tell you that from that day, my love for Starcraft and passion for things I want increased in a godlike way... all thanks to Savior and his magic powers, powers who let him won an MSL in the final agains´t the goddam Kang Min, an OSL agains´t Nada, and let Juanpe to keep playing SC until teh end =D

So that was my essay guys, hope that at least someone had a laugh reading it has I did while I was writing it =P

Why on earth does everybody think Savior's first name is Ma Jae, it's Jae Yoon. Ma is his last name -_-

Not to entirely sound like your teacher but...

I'd recommend re-reading and editing your essays. Because if you submit it, and then a couple hours later didn't like the way you said something, or thought of something else you wanted to add, you'll kick yourself for prematurely entering the contest. The best writing is a result of writing and re-writing (and rewriting, rewriting, and more rewriting). So go over it a bunch and make it the best you can make it.

Good Luck to all of you!

Starcraft: Repercussions of Evil

Savior waited. The lights above him blinked and sparked out of the air. There were zergs in the base. He didn't see them, but had expected them now for years. His warnings to Jim Raynor were not listenend to and now it was too late. Far too late for now, anyway.
Ma Jae Yoon was a space marine for fourteen years. When he was young he watched the spaceships and he said to dad "I want to be on the ships daddy."
Dad said "No! You will BE KILL BY THE ZERG"
There was a time when he believed him. Then as he got oldered he stopped. But now in the space station base of the UED he knew there were zergs.
"This is Firebathero" the radio crackered. "You must fight the zergs!"
So Savior gotted his palsma rifle and blew up the wall.
"HE GOING TO KILL US" said the zergs
"I will shoot at him" said the zergling and he fired the rocket missiles. Savior plasmaed at him and tried to blew him up. But then the ceiling fell and they were trapped and not able to kill.
"No! I must kill the zergs" he shouted
The radio said "No, Savior. You are the Zerg"
And then Ma Jae Yoon was a Zerg player.

so ok, it isnt entirely original.. but hell, I tried. Not expecting to win. =P

eh I suck at writing, and I'm not very creative, so this is definitely NOT the contest for me... but maybe I'll try anyway, if I'm really bored. Good thing there's quite a bit of time to write this

StarCraft Under Venezuela's Warming Sun

So I turn on the radio one warm morning while my grandma walked around in the kitchen to make herself some coffee with milk and sugar. Door open, windy, sandy and a guy on the other side of the street grilling some arepas while singing some old ballenato and his wife trying to shut him up by throwing her sandals at him; just a normal morning for a South American country.

I lay on the couch in the living room, with a coffee at hand watching TV as my grandma still in the kitchen, fried some fish and bananas for breakfast/lunch and the smell propagated throghout the villa. Grandma as always planning the day talking non stop with me about what she is going to do and about how grandpa is so stubborn.

Then a friend walks in the door and greets both me and abuela, loudly as it is accustomed in Venezuela, while this dog comes out from under the kitchen table and starts barking at him.

After a little while my friend was chatting with grandma and dog, he joyfully and loudly goes "Hey Will wanna come my place with me, Chompira, julio and Cesar? Gotta show you guys something!" so I listen to him, then grandma talking to the radio, yawn, say "alright, lets go" kick the dog and move out with Simon.

And you see these two guys walking up the rocky streets of the villa, under the heavy sun, dry sand and soft wind, loudly talking crap, Simon shuffling his keys in hand, both dressed the same; blue shorts, yellow shirt and flip flops. Dogs barking behind the fences, parrots talking unappropriate stuff, kids climbing up the trees trying to take down a kite throwing rocks at it and breaking Old Humberto's windows, other youth racing on bikes, some falling off of them, and neighbors fighting to determine who can play Venezuelan folkloric music the loudest waving hi to these two guys as they walk by.

We get to Simon's place and there they were Chompira, Julio and Cesar, all the three of them staring at a computer monitor. "Epale!" we say and they all anwer back still staring at the screen. "I got a fun game we can play at Click we just got to show it to them and we'll probably make some $$$" Simon said, Chompira, Julio and Cesar stood up and turned around instantly and the 5 of us went straight out asking Simon which game it was in confusion, he laughed.

"StarCraft hobos" he said "best game ever made!" then the 4 of us look at each other and just laugh ourselves off and I say "wtf dude? there's non better game than CS!" And we were in front of the door of Click Cyber Cafe. Julio opens it and a bunch of smoke comes out as some reggaeton is played and you can hear the noise of mad keyboard tapping. "What's up yo!" says the owner smoking his cigarretes at the door.

"We got sum game yo might want to be interested in man" said Simon "so good game it might brings you some $$ cuz of people wanting to play it!" and after a complex chat on the issues revolving games being installed on the computers, we finally came to an agreement and we were given some initial cash for the idea and SC was accepted into the cafe. I mean how it wouldn't if they had WC3 in there?

Couple of months went by, and my interest in SC were still growing! I had gone way beyond the others and was analyzing the Korean scene by myself. I won some competitions held in Click Cafe and some little amount of $$ as well for getting first place in those. I developed new rivalries, friendships and strategies while my interest in foreign SC kept growing every day.

Simon, Chompira, Julio and Cesar as well as other friends we made know for a fact that StarCraft is not very well known in Venezuela, or in fact, not known at all! I want with my whole heart to get a piece of SC written in the history of every country so that when the day of its death comes, it will rest in peace among the world's nations and its people forever. I want a CJ Entus shirt resting on the body of another nation, on my body

Creativity at its best

+ Show Spoiler +

A year have passed by, yet I could remember it so clearly… it was the day my world turned upside down. A friend of mine opened a video he recently downloaded. He didn’t say anything about the content so I glared at the computer screen awaiting something to pop out. Finally the term Savior: OSL highlight video came flashing on the screen, I was about to ask "who is he?" when my friend told me "just watch". In awe I was watching as I saw plays get implemented so perfectly that I fell in love with their owner. The micro, the macro, and the style… everything was perfect! This was the model of a champion, the definition of the might of the swarm. It was Mae Jae Yoon's perfect play that turned me into the zerg player I am today.

After that day, I was simply following this player's every step. Whatever he was playing I was watching. As he destroyed his opponents one by one, none was able to stop the monster until he started to become more shaky. The 3-0 Bisu destruction before the Shinhan OSL shocked him, and because of that hit his play just went down a tiny bit soon after he won the OSL title. Yeah, but the bad part is that it started and he started slumping… Yet, I looked all my friends face-to-face and said proudly that savior will never die!! However, reality was cruel and the truth soon became the only thing that mattered for everyone. But still, I was not admitting the fact he was gone for! I knew THE SAVIOR will return to the glory he once had! My dreams are on what happened to savior are limitless! I would dream that he won another MSL and returned to his glory every once in a while. Two weeks ago I dreamt that I was somehow getting married to savior which was totally freaky! But the symbolism in those dream show how attached I am to this great character. Savior didn’t suddenly lose his skills; it's just a mental break he severely suffered from. I didn’t and ever would vote against savior under any circumstances. My love for savior and my respect to him will never end no matter what.

CJ Entus, savior's magnificent team went through lots of hardships to get to where they are now. They are a hardworking team that really holds together and have their own chemistry. As my love for savior grew so as my love and respect for CJ. Now finally getting this opportunity, to receive something that has CJ's essence on it and the hard work of all the team's sweat and tears gives me an inexpressible feeling. Savior and CJ will remain my favorite player and team respectively forever and ever. If I get a chance to hold on to something that gives any memories of them, I will cherish that thing for the rest of my life.

Well, for this post to make sense, you need some background information about me. I am a cadet at the United States Military Academy, and one of the classes that I take is advanced tactics and warfighting. For class we are given situations and must draw tactical solutions and COA (course of action) sketches depicting how we would complete a given mission.

Here is the prompt I was given and my solution to the prompt:
+ Show Spoiler +

You are the Platoon Leader for 1/A/1-76IN, a light infantry platoon that is currently task organized with two rifle squads and two machine gun teams (M240B equipped). 1-76IN (Task Force Knight) recently replaced a Marine Unit that had landed at the nearby port city of New Zeda in the country of Zedastan. The established government is struggling with counter-insurgency, and there have been numerous high-profile kidnappings, bombings, and assassinations in the past month. Conditions have deteriorated to a point requiring international intervention.

The city of New Zeda is home to over 1 million people most of whom require humanitarian relief. The main enemy force, the Zedastan People’s Army (ZPA), retreated from the city upon the arrival of the Marines. ZPA is a large but untrained militia with mostly small arms, machine guns, rocket-propelled grenades and a few mortars (60mm). The enemy does have access to modern communications such as cell phones and civilian market global positioning systems.

Task Force Knight is the security element for both U.S. and international aid organizations that are feeding the estimated 300,000 refugees. Your company, A/1-76IN, has been tasked with ensuring that ZPA forces do not return to the city to interfere with humanitarian efforts. Your platoon has been tasked with conducting ambush patrols outside New Zeda in order to prevent the ZPA from disrupting the humanitarian efforts in the city.

Your platoon has been on patrol for over an hour. The Task Force perimeter and city outskirts are approximately 3 kilometers to the south. 2nd Squad, the lead element of your platoon, reports visual contact with what appears to be an enemy patrol armed with AK-47s moving south toward your position. There appear to be at least 10 enemy troops with this patrol. They have not detected your presence.

You decide to establish a hasty ambush oriented to the northwest (positioning your forces as shown in the diagram below). You position yourself with 2nd Squad and your PSG with the two machine gun teams. You radio the Company Commander to report the situation. As you are about to initiate your ambush, the 1st Squad Leader reports visual contact with another enemy unit which is moving in your direction along a route to your rear. The Squad Leader counts at least 6 enemy fighters with more following. He’s not sure how many. The team leader also notes at least one RPK medium machine gun. It is now 1730 and EENT (end evening nautical twilight) is 10 minutes away.

What do you do?

In the next 30 seconds, decide what actions your platoon will take. Write down your decision on a piece of paper and be prepared to brief your rationale.

NO QUESTIONS!

Since I currently had an A in the class and the assignment wasn't worth all that much, this is roughly what I submitted (I redid my submission in Microsoft Paint so that I could post it here)

Well, as expected, my instructor was none too happy with my submission asking "What the Fuck is this shit cadet?!" I haven't recieved my grade yet, but I am expecting a zero.

Anyway, how does this apply to CJ you may ask? Without Saviour's dominance that "Saved" the zerg race, shennanigans like this would not be possible. I might as well have cited Saviour at the bottom of my submission, because without him, there would be nothing but PvT.

(I noticed that you cant really read the text I put next to the images on the tactical overlay, but you can get to the original image in full size here. Please use the full size image when judging my submission if possible. If not please let me know and I will type out what is said on the overlay. Thanks. http://img228.imageshack.us/my.php?image=scentrylk5.jpg)

EDIT: 2 seconds after posting it I found that imageshack is not working, so here is what the little quotes say starting at 9 and going in a clockwise direction

"Lurkers from main hive with overlord support set up stop lurker position IOT ambush and destroy enemy terran forces coming from the NW"

"Force 2, along with force 1 destroys enemy infantry using a pinscir movement"

"Defilers cast Dark swarm IOT disrupt enemy infantry and provide cover for friendly forces"

"Force 1 of Ultralisks and zerglings attack enemy infantry with force 2 using a pinscir movement"

"Hydralisks are ordered to morph into lurkers, canalizing enemy movement and blocking the intersection"

"The endstate of my mission is all hives and hatcheries defended, all enemy forces destroyed, and enough friendly forces surviving to stage an assault on the enemy's secondary base of operations (natural expansion). Tasks must be completed NLT 070530SEP08. The main effort (ME) for this group is the ultraling forces, all other forces are in place to help support the mission of the ultraling forces, which is the destruction of the unknown group of enemy infantry. (Intell guys need to scout better imo."

To the tune of "Sexyback" by Justin Timberlake"

I’m bringing sAviOr back
Them other gamers don’t know how to act
I think you're special, why don’t you come back?
So practice more, take the MSL back.

Take 'em to the bridge

sAviOr babe,
If you attack then Bisu is your slave
And then you’ll whip him with a zergling rape,
Send out the mutas and make him go ape.

Take 'em to the chorus

Come on man
Go ahead, be gone with it
You gotta come back
Go ahead, be gone with it
VIP
Go ahead, be gone with it
Start a winning streak
Go ahead, be gone with it
Take ‘em down with your hydra spit
Go ahead, be gone with it
Make Bisu quit
Go ahead, be gone with it
Use your wit and guile
Go ahead, be gone with it
Do it scourge style
Go ahead, be gone with it
And now Bisu is gone
Go ahead, be gone with it

Now Bisu is gone
Go ahead, be gone with it
[Repeat 6 times]

Now Bisu is gone

I’m bringing sAviOr back
Cause he’s the best one of the CJ pack.
He’s gonna make up for the things they lack.
Don’t let Flash win with another attack.

Take 'em to the bridge

sAviOr babe
Flash is nothing but a pawn in your game.
If he faces you you know that he’s made.
You’ll beat him so bad he’ll never get laid.

Take 'em to the chorus

Come on man
Go ahead, be gone with it
You gotta come back
Go ahead, be gone with it
VIP
Go ahead, be gone with it
Huge winning streak
Go ahead, be gone with it
He’ll go crazy, he’ll throw a fit
Go ahead, be gone with it
Command Center hit!
Go ahead, be gone with it
Use your wit and guile
Go ahead, be gone with it
Harass a while
Go ahead, be gone with it
And now Flash is gone
Go ahead, be gone with it

And now Flash is gone
Go ahead, be gone with it
[Repeat 6 times]

And now Flash is gone

I’m bringing sAviOr back
All gamers better watch how he attacks.
He’ll pwn MSL in two seconds flat.
I see it now “FireBatHero take that!”

Take 'em to the chorus

Come on man
Go ahead, be gone with it
You gotta come back
Go ahead, be gone with it
VIP
Go ahead, be gone with it
Huge winning streak
Go ahead, be gone with it
Use four pool, rush with it.
Go ahead, be gone with it
sAviOr is the shit!
Go ahead, be gone with it
Use your wit and guile
Go ahead, be gone with it
Defiler style
Go ahead, be gone with it
And FireBatHero’s gone
Go ahead, be gone with it

FireBatHero’s gone
Go ahead, be gone with it
[Repeat 6 times]

Now they all are gone.

Colosseum of Pride

By this point my closer friends all know about Starcraft and how much time I put into it. While they can accept this "game" as a hobby and past-time, they can't see that it's much more than that.

Starcraft to me is more than one endeavor of the great scheme of life, it's one which has left quite an impact on my life and the lives of ten's of thousands. It makes up a portion of who we serious Starcraft players are. The mark it leaves is permanent, but it's a mark which can normally only subtly be found on the outside. That mark, the impression Starcraft leaves in us forever, is Pride. The competitive edge of Starcraft which drives us to win is undoubtedly pride; it is what makes us even lose sleep playing "just one more game".

CJ Entus is a very good example of the embodiment of Pride through Starcraft. I can't fathom any player in this great team ever not wearing their logo with great pride and dignity. The team has had some of the most successful players in the world, of all time. The biggest names of this team, Titans of Saturn in their own right, are Ma Jae Yoon, Savior[Gm], the Maestro, and Seo Ji Hoon, Xellos[yG], The Perfect Terran.

CJ Entus also boasts of OSL winner GGPlay, Iris, Much[Gm], Kwanro[saM], and Effort. They all represent their team with some success at the very top of the pinnacle of skill in this great game. Even if all of these gamers cannot boast of the dominance of the absolute best, they still represent CJ Entus with great pride, skill, and even success.

Much closer to home for me is IdrA, currently the only non-Korean gamer in a Korean progaming team. Idra happens to be from the same country as I, the United States of America, easily in and of itself one of the most Prideful nations on Earth. A strong player in the foreign ranks, Idra now has the pride of most of the planet on his shoulders as he represents the foreign world. Greg Fields is a player who you can easily see pride in him, in his interviews and in his success.

The point of all this, is that each and every player I've mentioned in this great team has some outward symbol of their pride in themselves and this Colosseum of Pride, Starcraft. Living outside of Korea, in a society not accepting of computer gaming as a hobby, let alone as a competitive sport, I have nothing but perhaps my word to show off my pride as a Starcraft player. I love this game just as much as these progamers, I have that pride too, but no way to express it to the world. This CJ Entus T-Shirt is my chance to outwardly wear my pride, and to support the epitome of my race, Savior, and my fellow countryman Idra.

Here is mine ^^

Sport of My life

I was not a great player. I didn’t know many secrets in Starcraft. I didn’t play as much as every other player. I was just obsessed with a genius game, exploring as a newbie. Nothing did I know that it was going to be the start of something new.
I had heard rumours of great legends like Boxer and Nada. I didn’t watch replays, or any VODs. I just knew that this game amazed me, and the explorer that I am, I couldn’t stop playing. Then finally, fall 2004, a spark was lit. I got my first broadband connection at home, which allowed me to watch the WCG2004 live-stream, and to play Starcraft without having to think of hours or cost. Listening to Wackstevens enthusiastic American voice cracked me up. That WCG, made my heart sparkle. Among all the foreign players, I was exited who was going to crush the Koreans. But after watching Day[9] vs. a Korean Terran, I was so amazed by this Korean Terran player. Since I was a Terran player myself, I just kept on watching. I had seen a new legend, this time, with my own eyes. His name was Xellos. His play just seemed to perfect. I wanted to play like him. Little did I know that my Starcraft world was going to experience darker ages.
Drums of War reached my ears, and as the explorer I was, I got drawn into a whole new world with dragons, murlocs and trolls. It took 2 years, before rumours of another legend reached my ears in Azeroth. It was said that he was far greater than any Zerg before him. It drew my attention back into Starcraft. My former hero had lost the last WCG, and now he was out of the MSL as well. I heard that his team-mate was still in the tournament. I found a link that led me to watch a final match: SaviOr vs. Silver. I was exited; a new legend was sitting there, defending his title, among hundreds of cheering fans. I was amazed by his play. I was surprised by the setting and the enthusiasm of this scene I was witnessing. It made me want to watch more.

Ever since that day, late 2006 when SaviOr won his 3rd MSL. The sparks in me, flamed up. And throughout 2007, the amount of VODs I watched grew rapidly. My favourite team CJ did well in proleague, even though they had two final losses. I followed eagerly while new talent rose from the team. Terran players like Iris and Darkelf made me want to play even more. And every morning I turned on my computer, but this time, It was not to play, but to watch and exiting game of Starcraft. I dropped several classes in college only to watch the Korean e-sport scene, which now had grown to a flickering flame in my heart. I had truly found the sport that my manliness desired.

The Finale

Simple he is, simple he plays,
Practicing Starcraft days upon days.
Technique all refined, mechanics all mastered,
Shooting down nooblets those pesky lil bastards.

He climbs up the ranking an unstoppable force,
Not a thing can deter him from his straightforward course.
He challenges gods; they bow at his feet,
Amidst the best of the best he’s the elite.

His control is amazing, timing’s insane,
But no time for rest he continues to train.
At the top of the world he sees potentials below,
His era is ending he sees where he’ll go,

All heroes fall, from time or by might,
Some just step down without even a fight.
But his legacy, strength, and solemn behavior,
Will never vanish, go Maestro our Savior~

this is my quote.

Re-Vival Through B-Team

An adaptation of Re-Education Through Labor

To the sound of an Entus clicking away
To the rhythm of the ancient Win 98
They click and drag but don't train
300 APM is no strain
Like wins without victory
Slumping players is all we see

We pray and beg for your team
They try but its but a dream
We buy all of your t-shirts
But you've got to win first
A lone foreigner doesn't make it come true
Your M and OSLs are so few

To the rhythm of an announcer talking away
And the gamegirls with their cocktail trays
The bustle of the game stadium
Daum announces the time has come

We pray and beg for your team
They try but its but a dream
We buy all of your t-shirts
But you've got to win first
A lone foreigner doesn't make it come true
Your M and OSLs are so few

Savior tosses his headphones
Xellos alone in his bed moans
But still can win
As loss is sin
Get the proleague
Take it back from Lecaf Oz

You won't choke against FBH
You won't lose to Bisu
You won't go 0-3 by Estro

We are teamliquid that supports you now
Post hype polls girls blogs China and
Rick Roll
Rick Roll
Rick Roll all in youtube

We hope you take PL this year
You'll let OGN steal it, we fear
Or maybe Samsung will come through
But we still believe in you
Our wish of CJ will come true
We Zerg
We Rush
We Walk... all over you.

For those that do not speak German, the speech this video is underlined with is of Nazi content, either made by Hitler himself (I think) or Goebbels.

I do not think that associating Starcraft with Nazi propaganda is a particularly good idea.

Thank you for clarification.

I still wonder about this - I think I do not have to elaborate on Hitler's crimes against humanity.
Using this figure for any kind of jokes attests to deficits in education, immature behaviour, or both.

Wasn't it because of the "Holy War" against Nal_rA or did it start before that? I remember they compared rA to Jesus and Savior to Hitler.

I think there is a youtube vid called "Savior-Matler" or something.

Please. This is like that Harry Potter-Voldemort nonesense. Trying to hide the past instead of bringing it into the public eye for ridicule will only lead to future incidents. Think about it: who would you rather imitate: the butt of all jokes or a person that is only whispered about and censored? Obviously the censored person would have some draw from impressionable adolescents. By making the figure of Hitler, an evil dictator responsible for deaths of millions, comparable to a Korean Zerg progamer famous for his overwhelming victories, we are making Hitler look like a fool, and thus a few people will laugh and not even deign to imitate him.

Censorship for our protection and sensititivity is still censorship. Have you heard of Godwin's law? It's a "natural law" that states that the longer an Internet conversation goes on, a reference to Hitler or the Nazis will be made.
Well good sir, you have proved it right again.

I recall a fighterforum photo of Savior in Heil-pose after some victory of his, though I'm pretty sure it didn't start because of this, but rather that picture only came along because that comparison was already in place.

Cause of his dominance back then also that fighter forum picture from the angle it was taken at really looks like hail. But then we wouldn't get savior vs nal_ra being a holy war with some great vids.

dear seojihoon,

for years now, i have watched you from afar... i cheer for all your wins... i am sad when you lose... To me in all ways but the physical we are inseperably close... i became your fan when you showed godly play at the great World Cyber Games and again the year after...

i was so happy to see your story... your journey at the greatest competition world cyber games... I was touched by your emotion on stage... you cried and i cried... your mothers story.. your experiences... made you a great champion of world cyber games... at night after sleep you practised with all your might... with your passion you worked at perfecting your craft... birthing your famous nickname... my personal favourite in all professional gaming in korea... oh DDR terran you are so good...

i suffered many critisisms on forums like teamliquid for my fan enthusiasm... much mocking for my devotion and praises of you... you the great world cyber games champion... the perfect terran... i know they just envy... i am your biggest fan... through the television i see.. your emotion your heart makes me flutter and fart... for me seojihoon mighty warrior of the world cyber games... you are perfect...

Thank you for clarification.

I still wonder about this - I think I do not have to elaborate on Hitler's crimes against humanity.
Using this figure for any kind of jokes attests to deficits in education, immature behaviour, or both.

[...] Trying to hide the past instead of bringing it into the public eye for ridicule will only lead to future incidents.

Well, IMO, the most probable effect of underlying a video of a popular progamer with a speech of Hitler will not be "making Hitler look like a fool" (why?), but instead of associating Hitler and the Nazi war machine (that also had overwhelming victories) with a well-liked, successful, popular progamer. In context of gosu play, peppy music, this will make the whole thing "cool", I fear.

Censorship for our protection and sensititivity is still censorship.

I am not talking about censorship. It is rather a matter of good taste what to put in context. I.e., helicopter jokes are fun, unless you make them in presence of a guy sitting in a wheel chair due to a heli accident (Silvio Berlusconi, I think, at that time Italian prime minister, did that).

Have you heard of Godwin's law? It's a "natural law" that states that the longer an Internet conversation goes on, a reference to Hitler or the Nazis will be made.
Well good sir, you have proved it right again.

No! Funny :-)
I wonder if that "law" is true for any given subject :-)

I jsut love the way he awaits his opponents play and make his move. Secondly I love the way Effort plays, I have a thought that Savior is teaching him many different things.

Drop the hitler debate, this isn't a thread for discussing world politics and political correctness. Fact: Savior was known as the matler (ma + hitler). End. Go debate hitler elsewhere

The Battle
+ Show Spoiler +
The wind glided along the ocean, filling the air with water. The wind continues along the shimmering surface, embracing a leaping fish before gently returning it back to its watery home. The wind trails upwards, higher until it envelops a kakaru, and following it, heads inland. The mountains grow larger and larger, and finally, jumping from the wings of the kakaru, the wind hurls itself up the face of the mountains, scaling their heights and leaping over the tips, and sails downwards into the valley below, then skimming the surface, jumping over large craters, and weird bugs, it pulses forward, to the highest hill in the valley, and there it envelopes a man, and turns to see what he see’s, a landscape in chaos, men and women running along trenches, with weird instruments making lights, metal monstrosities surging forward, the ever loud cranking of gears filling the area. Gazing past this mechanical yet, beautiful sight, the insects the wind passed earlier are screeching and pouring forward, a seeming less harmonious swarm advancing.
The man watches for a moment, then bringing a strange box to his mouth he begins rapidly talking, and below the metal machines begin to slow their advance, and spreading out they transform, sprouting large barrels from their back, which begin to roar into the night, and where the roar ends, the swarm gets smaller. The men and women rush to the sides of the metal mammoths and begin aiming their instruments at the swarm and as the lights rapidly appear and disappear, the swarm again diminishes.
The swarm is almost upon the men, when multiple metal arrows descend from the heavens, destroying the swarm wherever they land, quickly followed by metal eagles appearing from the clouds, and firing fiery light along the swarm.
The wind watches the man continue to talk into the box, and as he speaks the men and machines move in unity, all with the effort to drive back the insects. For minutes this pattern continues, the man always one step ahead of the hive. Then all is silent.
The wind follows the man as he descends from the hill into the people below, and listens
“Seo Ji Hoon!”
“Seo Ji Hoon”
“Seo Ji Hoon”
Over and over the name is repeated, and the wind gazes at the man, realizing something new, that where it appeared the men and machines were in chaos, and the swarm orderly, it was not the case, it was just chaos in the field, and this man brought order and with the activity done, the wind flows up and out of the valley, continuing its journey.

I think most will still be happy they have something they wrote out that they can really be proud of. And plus, it couldn't hurt to show our passion and support for CJ or progaming in general. This sort of effort in writing is never bad or a waste of time.

Here is mine , at least I can say ' I tried '
+ Show Spoiler +
Well , where to start ? Hmm... Yeah , found it.
I'm studying in Middle East Tech in Turkey . My dorm mate is a fan of StarCraft too. Before he taught me this undisputable No.1 game of the universe I have no idea about this game... But after that .. My life is full of SC , VODs and old essays related to game changed my way of life. I'm not exaggereting here , this is so true. Anyway , I'm also fan of Bisu , he is the 1st when I interested in the game but it was not the reason for me to enter this new world. It is really odd for me to want sAviOr's shirt but since Bisu and Savior are rivals this is exciting too. I have known TL for over 8 months but unfortunately I signed up in july and couldn't enter to poll. Therefore , this is my last chance to win this shirt.

What are we waiting for?
I've been a big fan of CJ since the beginning, starting with Xellos and Team GO. The Team GO era of CJ Entus was truly an amazing time. Various players from that team were truly amazing. XellOs, my favorite Terran (besides BoxeR, but that's a given) was truly a Perfect Terran. The rising player IPXZerg or sAviOr had a style of Zerg more entertaining than some of the best Zergs at the time.

These two players, XellOs and sAviOr became some of the best players going into the CJ Entus era. Xellos was already an accomplished player, with an OSL under his belt and winning the Korea WCG Selection. On the other hand, sAviOr was still fairly new, yet he already took an MSL. CJ would become a top-tier Proleague team because of these 2 players.

sAviOr unexpectedly took two MSLs and an OSL in about the same year, and I became more attached to CJ as I witnessed it all. CJ Entus as a whole also established a reputation in Proleague, making top spots in each Proleague in the year 2006. CJ fans everywhere rejoiced during these times, watching each game expecting to be entertained, and they were.

No one thought that the dominance would end. Suddenly in 2007, sAviOr fell into his infamous slump, and CJ became a lower-tier team in Proleague. The big slump was simply depressing for all CJ fans out there. Most watched these games and expected lackluster results from the declining team. However, the rest continued watching with a optimistic view ready to be entertained. I was one of those few who continued watching as a fan.

We were all waiting for something. We wanted CJ to make a shining comeback in Proleague. We wanted sAviOr to dominate every Starleague there was. As the months went by, nothing would happen. But most continued watching as true fans. Those who stopped following CJ couldn't stop thinking, "What am I waiting for?" Maybe it is futile to continue hoping for another period of dominance by CJ, but I'm still here. I'm waiting for it.
<Wolfpox> i remember when MVP beat that one guy, and everyone was like 'whoa' except that penguin dude.

Happy Anniversary

In 2003, I was working as a senior beauty advisor for Walgreens. Basically, my job was to tell old women which lipstick would make them look pretty, and convince them that even at 60 years old, blue eye shadow still looked good on them. One of the photo techs was a tall, skinny, blonde kid named Justin. I talked to him a bit, and thought he was funny. I even had a small crush on him, but nothing I ever thought about pursuing.

The only game I’d ever played was Everquest. I’d never heard of Starcraft, or Warcraft 3, or any other RTS. A friend of mine actually bought me Starcraft while he was visiting from California. I really tried to learn how to play it, but even the single player missions would take me hours to complete. It was a terrible game, and I hated it. But for some reason, I kept playing it.

One day, I came in to work super tired. I was in the office whining to my manager about how I had stayed up too late playing video games and needed to go home and sleep. Justin came in and overheard me complaining, and asked which game I had been up playing. I told him he probably didn’t know the game, but he bugged me until I finally gave in and told him. He didn’t believe me; girls aren’t interested in Starcraft, after all.

Somehow I convinced him that I had indeed been playing it. We started talking on aim, and he linked me some video feed of Starcraft TV, and an article talking about Starcraft Doritos, and tennis shoes. I thought it was a joke. I mean, people playing video games on TV? That’s crazy talk. He introduced me to players like Savior, Xellos, Boxer, Nada, July, and Nal_Ra. And even though I was awful at the game, and my APM will probably never get above 60, I loved Starcraft.

In 2006, we went to WCG USA finals or something in Las Vegas. I met Tasteless, and he told me about TeamLiquid.net. After that, Justin and I started watching Pro Starcraft religiously. I always play Liquibet, and never rank higher than 100. I am still terribly clueless about the mechanics of the game. I just cheer for my favorite players and teams, and always feel bad for the player who loses. They seem to take losing so hard!

This month, Justin (Disarray on these forums) and I are celebrating our 5 year anniversary. CJ Entus is our favorite team, and we watch every OSL, GSI, MSL, and Proleague game. I know this is my first post; I am way too shy to post in any of the topics because I am so clueless, but it would really mean a lot to me if I could give this CJ Entus shirt to my boyfriend as an anniversary present. Without Starcraft, we probably wouldn’t have started dating. <3

Reminds me of that love letter about a similar story that was posted once. It's probably been years, but I'm sure some people remember - any has a clue what the thread name was like? Coudn't find it...

I'll be honest, i'm not a huge CJ fan. But, I love the look of the shirt and i think its mega cool. The ultimate reason i want is so that i can wear it out to korean clubbing places so i'll be able to find it easier to talk to korean girls. I have a hard time talking to korean girls and just girls in general and i figured with this shirt, the final link will be set and i'll be able to talk to them once and for all. This shirt will be my saviour in every sense of the word. Imagine the respect i'd earn walking into a netcafe? korean club? oh man.

I think I'm going to be the only one posting an essay that isn't about CJ (or sAvioR for that matter). My essay is going to be a description of game 3 of the 2008 EVER OSL finals from BeSt's point of view. Hopefully I pull it off well!

Will edit this post when I'm done.

EDIT: Damn. 500 words is not enough to write a good descriptive essay! If I have time, I'll write the version that I really wanted to write, which was basically a descriptive essay of the entirety of game 3. I was limited to basically the final minutes in this version.

The Final Game

My drop was fairly successful. The ultralisk cavern was down, as was his spawning pool. He managed to deal with the dark templar before they could do any more damage, but it would have to be enough. I could still win this game, but I could not afford any mistakes. Knowing I could do nothing more with the dark templar, I abandoned them to their fate and returned to my base to macro.

I tried to decide what unit composition I needed. What was he building? I had killed off the Ultralisk Cavern and the spawning pool, so he wouldn't have any ultralisks or zerglings for a few minutes at least. That left hydras, mutas, and scourge. I queued some high templar to deal with the hydralisks and mutalisks, along with corsairs, zealots, and a reaver for good measure. I sent what was left of my corsair fleet out to scout.

I checked the usual expansion points from his position. Nothing new. My wave of zealots finished. As he was still probably rebuilding his ultralisk cavern, I still had some time before the ultralisks actually hatched. I queued another wave of zealots. Checked the scouting corsairs. Nothing at the main at 3. Sent them to 7 to check there. The high templar were done. I decided I still had time before the ultralisks were out, but I started mixing in dragoons so I would have enough to deal with them if I misjudged the timing. The reaver finished, so I loaded it into a shuttle and moved it to meet with my army. I started moving to the middle of the map for better mobility.

To my complete shock, they were met by a seething horde of ultralisks. I thought I had destroyed the cavern! How had he gotten that many so quickly?! Storms would be no good now, I desperately started merging my templar into archons. Luckily enough I had semi-countered the ultralisks by countering the hydralisks and mutalisks. Unluckily, I needed more archons. A lot more archons. My army was no match for his ultralisk and zergling force. I attempted to storm the zerg mass to thin it out. I managed a few good storms, but it was too little too late. The archons were killed before they were even finished merging. Back to the base. I needed... What did I need? Archons. Templar. Dragoons would help too. I mixed the two, dragoons and high templar. Where was that reaver? I selected the hotkey just in time to see it destroyed. Damn! What a huge waste of resources! Fool!

My units were hopelessly outnumbered by just the ultralisks, let alone the zerglings that accompanied them. Before I knew it, he was at my natural, tearing into the nexus. I tried to run the probes to my main. I caught my units finishing from the gateways. Missed timing. My natural expasning was leveled. I was too far gone. There was nothing to do but accept the inevitable.

Alright here's mine. Man I worked so hard on this that I didn't eat anything for two months and caused my whole familly to get cancer. I hope you enjoy it though.

+ Show Spoiler +
Something to Cover it Up.

Well, here I am. Standing with my hands in my pockets.
I'm not too sure what to say, what do you want me to say? We're all
here, standing in a circle, looking at the mess on the carpet. How'd it
ever down come to this...

I can't say that I can really identify with these people. I feel bad,
but not enough to turn into some sort of sub-human thingy. They
asked me to say a few words though, so here it goes...

As I gather myself and clear my throat, I realize how pathetic this
situation really is. It's time we moved on with our lives.

"Ahem, we are gathered here on this bitter september morning,
to stand around and stare at this once beautiful carpet, now soiled.
None of us are intelligent or even human enough to know how to deal with
this dramatic situation, so I propose that we share a moment of
silence, to remember the good times we lived together."

The people standing around me lower their heads and close
their eyes. Their expressions are all so sincere. I feel a tad guilty. After all,
I just decided that I don't care anymore. In truth I am not worthy of being here.

One person starts to sob quietly. I feel a stab of annoyance,
I mean it's really not the end of the world, for crying out loud,
it's just a damn carpet! Sigh, but it isn't just a carpet.

"Thank you, the question we now face is, what are we to
do with the er, the remains of the carpet."

"Obviously we will simply let it be and hope it gets well! The question
should not even be posed!" A few people voice their agreement.

I look at the man who spoke, a wreck of a man he is. His vest is
untidy and his eyes have deep, dark lines beneath them. Poor Herb,
he's been driven mad with grief and runs a weekly newsletter on how
the carpet has been doing since the accident.

"Listen Herbert", I speak gently as if to a child. "It's over son,
we gotta move on, we need to buy a new carpet."

"Buy a new carpet? Have you lost your mind? Do you know what
carpet this is? Winner of the Orange Soprano's Linen trophy, three
times winner of the Most Sexy Lion trophy, a carpet that
reinvented what we call foot comfort, a subtle, elegant, velvety
texture that truly caresses-"

Flop!

Herb stops recalling the carpet's accomplishments to locate
the source of this noise. He looks down and sees a shirt placed on
the carpet where the stain was located.

"We will leave the carpet here, with this shirt on it." I speak
in a very sexy and awesome voice, damn. "It shall hide it's
horrible deformation while reminding us of how amazing it was
in the past. Really, it's the perfect solution. Now, let's go play some
gameboy advance!"

As the cheering people start moving past me, I feel relieved that
everything is finally alright. It's like that shirt magically fixed
everything,, everythin,, everyth,,,

I wake up with a start. I look down and see that I slept only in
boxer shorts the night before.

I release an ear-shattering scream of rage.

(turn it up...)

Here's mine :D

Perfection

Since I had started playing Starcraft, my main race was Protoss. Recently however, I had decided to switch my main race to Terran. There had been many reasons to this switch. One of these is inspiration from watching Terran players play. MNM micro, tank pushes and a huge Terran ball, all used by progamers have inspired me to play Terran. Unfortunately, even progamers are human and perfection is difficult, if not impossible, to achieve. One particular Terran though, had caught my eye since I was a Protoss player and has always made me doubt my decision to play Protoss. This Terran my friends, is none other than The Perfect Terran, Seo Ji Hoon; AKA Xellos.

At the start of his career, Xellos has faced several encounters, the biggest of which is his mother. Like most parents, Seo Ji Hoon’s mother wanted to see her only son excel in his studies and get a secure job with good pay to support his family and so on. Many parents would be disappointed if their only son decided to play video games for a living. Seo Ji Hoon’s mother is no different. Ever since his father passed away, Xellos and his sister were taken care of by their mother. In a family without a father, the only son was expected to support the family as soon as he could. Xellos decided to do this through the game Starcraft. His mother resented this and had resorted to beating him many times. Seo Ji Hoon didn’t let his mother stop him though, and continued to play. His mother soon gave up trying to stop him and spitefully sent him off to his team as soon as he got his progamer’s license. On July 13, 2003, Xellos finally solved his conflict with his mother, dedicating all his hard work to her by winning his first OSL beating Yellow 3-2 in the finals bringing tears to the eyes of his fans, and most importantly, his mother.

“I am here because of you. I love you Mom.”
-Xellos

So, what is Seo Ji Hoon’s role in CJ Entus? Back before CJ Entus got its name, it was called “G.O.” Their star player: Xellos. Their sponsor: None. Most other teams had their own sponsors to support them such as Samsung, SK Telecom, and Pantech & Curitel. G.O. had to support themselves from their players’ own winnings. Xellos, being the star player, contributed the most to his team’s funds. Winning the Olympus OSL in 2003, WCG in 2004 and WCG Korea in 2005, Xellos was able to keep G.O. alive until they finally got CJ Foodsystem as their sponsor. Without Xellos, G.O. wouldn’t have been able to survive. Without Xellos, no company would want to sponsor the team. Without Xellos, there would be no CJ Entus.

Unfortunately, once you have reached perfection, the only move left leads to imperfection. Xellos is no longer one of CJ’s stars. However, he will always be the legend known as The Perfect Terran.

I really wish this wasn't i love cj becuase i love savior thing but i ended up noticing that it is kinda that with new zerg hype kawrno and effort cause they share under savior tutelage

I don't have any inspiring stories to tell. I can just tell what I have, I'm just a 17 year old fan of starcraft, I used to play sc all the time but i left the game a several years.

About a year ago i came back to it with my friends we played together had some good times but they moved on but to me i couldn't i found the game much more fulfilling then any other game. So i kept playing I never was very good i lately i don't play much more then a few games in a week.

Thou i stopped playing i kept watching, I guess i understand how you can enjoying watching someone else play something.

At first i had no favorites back in the day i used to watch the few things i could see to improve, H.O.T.-Forever for when i play zerg and Xellos a while later. But when i came back to watching the game everything changed thing became well impressive. It was the sAviOr era after all i was memorized at his power in play such a low apm but such an impressive winning rate. So i started watching games just to see savior play just so happens it was Team CJ Entus found out xellos was on the team was surprised my off race is terran. Protoss is for people who want to win apparently i like style though.

Anyways I would just really appreciate a CJ ENTUS shirt esp scene it's my size and the one i really wanted white, although savior wore black the white one just looked better. Xellos, Iris, Savior is the reason i love CJ that is really it much is great i just don't like protoss. Mainly a bias for loosing to them all the time.

I wish i could say i'm not a just savior fan boy but i like iris because he was savior era. Really it's savior before team cj then xellos and iris just impressed me esp those games on that one 2 player map where he took games agnist savior.

I really don't know what im getting at i just ended up procrastinate about this and loosing ot my curse again. But i would kick myself in the balls if i didn't atlest try

-Chris, I really wish i could get the CJ shirt please and thank you =)

The air was filled with sounds of dropships plummetting to the ground, pummelled by the cerebrate's kamikaze fliers. The last groups of brave men and women were swathed in corrosive biotoxins spewed forth by skittering plague factories as they picked apart by swarms of hydralisks and lurkers. The desert sands were choked with blood as the swarm pushed through the last of the human defenses.

And then, GG.

It was over. The first, and best professional Starcraft game i ever saw, had ended.

Ma Jae Yoon, more commonly known as Savior, had finished off the most epic semifinal game 5, against none other than his teammate, Byun Hyung Tae. Iris. The Berserker Terran.

It was Savior's high point. CJ's high point. And my starting point. From then on, when it came to Starcraft, I ate, slept, and breathed Savior. I suddenly became untouchable amongst my friends and started playing for hours on end. He was my inspiration. I would explain to my peers, most of whom didn't even know the existence of Starcraft, why I wasn't looking glum like I usually did. "Ma Jae Who?" "Yoon. Ma Jae Yoon. And he's just ridiculous."

I never actually got to see him fall. I was out the night of the Legendary MSL finals. Where Bisu picked him apart to the horror of all CJ fans everywhere. Our hero, our scion of the creep, was defeated. And he has still yet to recover.

I don't think that Savior will rise again to the level he previously attained. I think that he can still pull himself up to the competitive level once more. I believe in Ma Jae Yoon. Every time he falls i may go "oh he's done", but I cheer for him anyways the next time he plays. Every time FBH dances, I think, "There will be a reckoning." Because progamers, more than anyone, must learn how to accept their losses. Savior will pick himself up again. And I will watch him once more.

You Could Be Happy

The turbulent seas erected a great fierce wave, clashing and crashing against sharp jagged rocks. The walls withstood thousands of pounds of force slamming against it. The waves were thunderous; it shook the entire kingdom as if it was a fragile piece of paper; wind flapping against it's very being. The waves continued to pound, the continuous horror to many eyes of Man. Our jaws dropped, and our eyes widened. The unspeakable horror filled our beating hearts and yet, it calms. The dominance of Terrans were astonishing. The havoc they have wrecked continued to leave wakes in the hearts of many. Zerg fell to the amazing multitask and macro of their ill-fated enemies. Protoss trembled in fear as they get out-macro'd by a race which they should abuse in their cold-hearted sleeps.

In a breath, in shallow sleep, a hero emerges; but for the rest of us, we do not see him as the hero. In fact; he is the anti-hero. Ma Jae Yoon: Maestro of Zerg. A symphony of his valor, a symphony of death, harmonics tuned to it's own accord. sAviOr was born. Out of the far reaches of space, in the darkest and coldest regions, he thrived, and consumed. His assimilation of every player was known; his thirst was insatiable. He climbed, and crawled his way on top of the ladder -- knocking anyone who stood in his way down.

His reversal of Longinus II was legendary. Lee Yun Yeol, open-jawed, could not believe it himself. Wave after wave of his own forces ended up only in defeat and decimation. Temple shook as sAviOr just overwhelmed it. It was his time, it was his dominance and no one else will take it away from him.

A cold and starry night, a night not to be forgotten. The statistical analysis gave MJY the win, but a no-name will quickly change that. MSL finals - finished ending. The reversal of Longinus II was nonexistent. The Temple withstood the thunderous waves. Blitz X will not be forgotten as the desolate days of MJY finally collapses. 93%... 80%... 70%... 60%... the statistics dropped deeper and deeper into the abyss. His decline was rapid; his fans were left scattered and scathed. All in all, this would be his last chance to redeem himself. In an ace game, MJY was to go up against YellOw[arnc] in an epic ZvZ, coming out on top was sAviOr... the Maestro, an emotional and intense game - his redemption - last requiem.

+ Show Spoiler [Exhibiting Greatness] +

If you turn to your left, you'll see one of our most popular exhibits here at the Progaming Museum. Ma Jae Yoon, also known as Savior, donated these two pages of the diary he kept while a progamer on CJ Entus. They paint a picture of a talented but troubled gamer, in the throes of a well documented slump. They also mark the beginning of a return to form for the Zerg legend. The second entry shown here was written shortly after his stunning tear through both major leagues, capped off by two spectacular final set dismantlings of FireBatHero and Bisu. Solidified as one of the greatest Starcraft players of all time, fans today often forget that even Savior had his struggles. Sometimes, the greatest thing you can find out about your heroes is that they're human, just like you.

09/20/08

Dear Diary,

Well, I lost again. I think I almost expected it this time. He played like I knew he would. I was able to stop it. I am able to stop it. I just didn’t stop it. I think even he was surprised at how easy it was. I don’t understand any of it anymore. The macro is easy, the micro is easy, and the builds are easy. It’s all easy. So why is it so hard to win?

I owe my team. I owe my fans. I really owe myself.

I can’t promise my team yet. I’m not ready. I can’t promise my fans yet either. They’re not ready. But I can promise myself, and I can promise you, diary. I can promise you I will win. One day, I’ll write, “I told you so”.

MJY

Dear Diary,

I told you so.

I just wanted to remind people to go back and re-read their entries, as I scanned them since I finished mine. Besides a few obvious typos in some, at least a couple were well over 500 words, and I'd hate to see someone disqualified because they didn't run theirs through a word count. Mine probably would have been 1500 to properly present all the points, but I managed to get it under 500, so I'm sure you can too.

According to the OP, there's just over 18 hours left (I'm waiting til the end to paste mine).

The Son and the Shirt

The very start of my life is a perfect example of how miserable it has been for me in this world. As soon as I was out of the wet, dark world of my mother, I was thrust into the very wet and very dark world of Seoul in a thunderstorm. The birth certificate and I were wrapped in a shirt and left at a door. That was the last time I saw my mother. My birth certificate tells me that my mother is Alice Henry and that my father is Park Yeong Min. My mother lied about her name, but I know who my father is. I'm the illegitimate son of the professional StarCraft player Much. The shirt I was wrapped in was one of his jerseys. Yes, he's definitely old enough to be my father.

The orphanage that I was raised in was full of kids who were cooler, smarter, and better looking than me. I spent most of my early years roaming the streets, squabbling with kids who had real homes. I stole to feed myself and begged to get money to pay off The Bullies. The Bullies were led by Kim, the greatest street kid around. His dad owned a telecom company and he made a point of telling everyone. I lived in dumpsters and he lived in a mansion, and he still had to go around stuffing kimchi down my shirt. Eventually I decided to stop paying him to stay away, that was around the same time that all of us were introduced to computers.

It started with Kim, of course, when his daddy gave him a computer of his own. Then the other kids started getting them and started going to the game cafes on dates. Soon after they began to recognize my shirt. It was the shirt I was born in, the shirt I was born to wear, the only shirt I owned, my father's old jersey. I was made fun of constantly, they made fun of my dad, calling him “Gramps” and his micro “the old man's twitch.”

Now I spend all of my time on my computer, hiding from The Bullies. All the cool kids have good computers, their StarCraft runs like a dream, I found my computer in a dumpster, my StarCraft doesn't have zerglings. The marines also walk backwards. They have a hard time shooting. My only friend is my jersey, tattered and stained.

Please, you could be the first nice person to ever look my way, the bearer of the first gift I've ever received (other than the numerous gifts from my favorite dumpster). I couldn't afford your first contest and now is my only chance to replace the dying companion that I wrap around myself when I dream on cold nights and wear proudly under fire from kimchi projectiles. Please, with your jersey and my genetic micro, I would have a chance to make something for myself. Even if I've never seen a zergling.

Once upon a time there was a faggot, no one cared what his name was or is. The faggot died, he got run over by a red truck or a meteor crashed unto him. You see, it doesn’t matter how the faggot died, what matters is his death and not how it occurred, how he lived didn’t matter, what mattered it that he lived. You see some things are just fated, some things cannot be changed like birds flying, dogs dying, people fucking, and savior winning. That is the rhythm of life and the poetry of fate. You cannot change the events, but how the events occur change, you see that is fate and mutability intertwining. I am destined to win a CJ T-shirt, it doesn’t matter how it happens but the fact it will happen will make it happen. I had a little chit chat with God about it and he came to the same conclusion, granted he is a busy man, but he agreed to the proposal and said Son you will win the CJ T-shirt because you are gosu. I was engulfed with happiness and light, but then I asked him what if those guys at TL don’t want to give me the shirt. He replied to me saying, I shall thee engulf them with eternal damnation, you saw what I did to that faggot yes? And I replied ye. He replied I will not smash them with a Red TrucK, but I will let optimus Prime unleash his ultimate fury on the fools if they don’t give you the T-Shirt. Well then I asked why can’t you give me the T-Shirt and he replied, I like doing things in style son. I will blind Ye mortal fools at TL and make this essay a miracle essay that will win you the T-Shirt. It is now your inevitable destiny to win the T-Shirt. You Shall Become now GoSu with the t-shirt, and I was grateful and gosu forever. With the Shirt I Shall be bestowed upon the Light of the true Savior. With the powers of the CJ T-Shirt I shall Succeed Ma Jae Yoon and become the true heir to the zerg. Julyzerg and Jaedong are just faggots that made a pact with Satan, they shall be dealt with later once I attain the light.

“Down at the cross where my Savior died, Down where for cleansing from sin I cried, There to my heart was the blood applied; Glory to His Name!”

I just finished now, I got class in <10 minutes :O

+ Show Spoiler +
It was April 2006. It had been over a year since I had watched a professional game of Starcraft. My hero, the Mantoss, up against a no-name Zerg named Savior in the Pringles MSL. At the time I knew Reach was weak in his PvZ but I was confident that he would emerge victorious. After all, it WAS some no-name Zerg. The game started and Savior took down Reach’s natural Nexus within minutes. I shrugged it off as a lucky move and still believed Reach would win. Time passed by in a blur and my hero was crumbling in front of me. Savior’s moves were perfect: units were at the right place at the right time, harassment was flawless, and his game sense was fantastic. At the time I believed that the Starcraft greats such as Boxer, Reach, Yellow, iloveoov, Julyzerg, would never die and all the no-names had to suffer being .. well, no-names. I was shocked at somebody unknown to me was dismantling a Protoss god with such grace and simplicity. Savior used Ensnare and Broodlings to catch Shuttles and snipe Templars, the first I had ever seen them used so effectively against Protoss. My love for Savior increased as he pranced through the Pringles MSL like it was a 3v3 noobfest on Fastest. Then came the finals, the only one thus far that has kept me at my computer watching intently. The God of Protoss, Nal_rA against my new love, Savior. Easily and effortlessly, I saw my new love tear through the God of Protoss like tissue paper. It was, to say the least, terrifying and awe-inspiring at the same time. I thought that Savior was THE player to watch forever, the one that would usher in a new Boxer-esque era of outstanding skills and indomitable play.

And now back to the present. I see my hero a shadow of his former self. After his crippling loss to FireBatHero in GOM2 and his continuing downward spiral, it’s heartbreaking to see a person who was at the top of his game what seemed like yesterday become toppled almost effortlessly by a weirdo who enjoys dancing like a maniac when he wins and crying like a child when he loses. It is sad to see a person who was an unstoppable force, the one who would be your anchor in Liquibet, the one you would always count on to win, become just another player in the fast-paced drama that is professional Starcraft. Every so often I go on YouTube and I watch Savior’s golden days, the great year of 2006 and his dominance, and my heart breaks a little inside.

Edit: Fixed because indentations weren't working -_-

Edit2: Damn, now that I submitted I feel mad nervous

Here goes:

+ Show Spoiler +

I watch intently for a barracks landing
At five AM, through eyes with slumber glazed,
A four-pool at a crucial series standing
Or yet another fatal comsat razed...

To no avail. The hero's frenzied hands
Convey a bitter, growing desperation.
He flails and fails, I see with trepidation,
Before his younger foe's precise commands.

The night gives way, the sky is gray. I pray
Their starry craft may rise again to art,
Or, if the future promises dismay,
They'll build a pylon heart to warm my heart.

I trudge to work bereft of sleep, and yet
A CJ match shall never bring regret.

The games mentioned in the first stanza are from early 2007. In order:

http://www.teamliquid.net/tlpd/games/2959_Justin_vs_sAviOr

We believe that we invent symbols. The truth is that they invent us; we are their creatures, shaped by their hard, defining edges.

Just make a 2 minute video of yourself crying about not having time to write anything, in the form of "Leave Britney Alone." I'm sure it'll get a few high ranks by the judges. Plus, it'll only take 2 minutes to make.

I seriously wish I had video recording capabilities to add a submission to my essay. Unfortunately I'm poor, and you can't pirate a camcorder.

Starcraft Progaming

The CJ shirt. Normally, people would see this as just any other shirt that someone would wear but this is not the case for this community. We at Teamliquid have a strong diverse community, ranging from noobs to progamers like Idra, and having people from different cultures all around the world.

When I first got into Starcraft, I searched “starcraft” on youtube and just wanted to see some cool videos. I saw Boxer’s perfect scv rush against Yellow. That sure was awesome, but I yearned for a dominant zerg player. Sure Yellow was good, but I wanted to see a zerg demolish every opponent he faced, one after another. Soon enough, I found sAviOr videos. His play was astonishing. The units came from nowhere as he kept macroing from his 3 hatch build. The muta micro was any terran’s nightmare. The intense defiler micro saved his base from pushes one after another. This player soon became my favorite zerg.

Now, what’s amazing is why I even got into Starcraft. Literally no one I knew played it, except my cousins four years back. There wasn’t anyone to talk about sAviOr’s loss against FBH and the humiliating ceremony that followed. No one would understand the jibberish of macro, micro, and APM. I realize that I got into Starcraft because of its precise and strategical gameplay. I admired the wit, dexterity, and determination that these gamers needed to become champions of Starcraft.

I want this shirt because I feel it would spread the word of Starcraft to others unaware of its existence. If we get a bigger foreign fan base, it would allow more foreign progamers to go to Korea and learn from the true masters of the game. This garment would show others that they are not alone in the Starcraft universe. Besides the worlds of Char, Aiur, Mar Sara, and the other Starcraft planets, Earth is still battling it out as these three unique yet balanced races. Come forth, and join the Swarm, the Conclave, or the Confederacy, they’re all waiting for anyone willing to lead their army.

There's still a few well over 500 words. I guess those people submitted theirs and haven't come back. Hopefully they'll notice before the deadline is up.

I find it amusing how many entrants have a team icon other than CJ's. That should be intsa-DQ

Only three hours left. I'm curious to see how many others are doing the same thing as me and waiting to post their entry until the last hour. I didn't want anyone reading mine and getting ideas :o. I hope the judges aren't biased towards earlier entries. I'm so nervous that I'll fall asleep or something, I'll probably post mine soon...I doubt anyone has time to start one if they haven't already (mine took like 4 days).

I dedicate my 1000th post to XellOs, for without him there would be no CJ Entus.

+ Show Spoiler [essay and image] +

Model of Perfection

When you think of a “gamer,” what images come to mind? The average person might envision someone who is lazy and irresponsible, someone immature for his age, someone emotionally unstable, or maybe just a social outcast. Whatever it is, the person they imagine is usually not the model of perfection. Yet when I think of a “gamer,” I envision someone mature, hard working, responsible, selfless, and loyal. Assuming I'm sane, how can it be possible that while the average person thinks of an overall low-life, I think of someone you could model your life after? Because when I think of a “gamer,” I think of Seo Ji Hoon, the Perfect Gamer.

More commonly known as XellOs, Seo Ji Hoon boasts qualities seemingly opposite the average gamer. While it might not be rare for a licensed progamer to act well mannered, Seo Ji Hoon's emotional maturity goes far beyond typing “GG” or bowing after defeat. His stoic demeanor is the first thing most fans notice. He believes that any serious gamer must control his emotions at all times, and he exemplifies this control better than most crisis counselors. Of course without hard work, maturity doesn't get you far.

Dedication is required of any progamer, but XellOs' goes beyond that of even other pros. Forbidden from playing by his mom, he had to train silently at night to achieve the skills to go pro. He maintained that dedication as a pro by voluntarily dropping to the B team when he was slumping, devoting more time to practicing and returning to his previous form.

While most people game to avoid responsibility, Seo Ji Hoon became pro to support his family. Losing his dad at 12, he was expected to help provide for his mother. Licensed at 17, Seo Ji Hoon was able to do just that, eventually winning an OSL and devoting it to his mom. Yet Seo Ji Hoon's loyalty isn't just to his family.

As a member of unsponsored G.O., much of XellOs' winnings went to help support the team. While others left G.O. for higher pay at sponsored teams, he remained, despite needing to support his mom financially. Because of his selfless loyalty as their star player, G.O. secured sponsorship and became CJ Entus.

When I think of a “gamer,” I think of Seo Ji Hoon, because he is what other gamers should strive to be. CJ Entus embodies his qualities, being known for emotional control and hard work. While others may envy their favorite pro because of his wins or his looks, I envy XellOs because of his heart. He is the reason I stay up all night to watch every match of every CJ player. He is the reason my favorite player of every race all play for CJ Entus. He is the reason I still play StarCraft and am not ashamed to tell others. Seo Ji Hoon isn't just a model for other gamers; he is a model for anyone.

I don’t usually give out the full resolution image, but I wanted to make sure you could see all the “photos.” If anyone here wants me to make that into a wallpaper, let me know what resolution, and I can.

Hopefully next time there’s a writing contest we’ll get 1500 words, so we can write a standard five-paragraph essay. 500 is good for a poem, but I can’t write poems

Anyway, I hope everyone had as good a time as I did writing and entering (although I had the most fun making the image). Now I get to go back to not being able to sleep until they announce the winner.

Closed Eyes

I want this shirt. I want this shirt so bad that I can taste it. I want it so bad that I draw it on my body and imagine that I already have it. As I go about my daily business I attract many raised eyebrows and snide remarks. It doesn't matter though, as long as I'm wrapped in the embrace of CJ entus. I close my eyes and imagine myself on a small Korean stage, standing before crowds of cheering fans. I stumble out of that little booth with my eyes locked onto the bench. In front of me are my teammates, slumped over their seats staring back at me. I must remember my surroundings. Forcing away my smile and feelings of excitement, I lethargically high five my teammates. The sea breeze brushes through my hair and my sweat glistens in the spotlights. I've never been to Busan before, but now I hope I never leave. The Ace match took a lot out of me. I pull off my CJ shirt won in a little competition. It has made all the difference for me and hoping that it can for someone else, I throw it deep into the crowds. At that moment the fans flood towards the stage. They pick me up and toss me high into the night sky, towards the stars. I feel as if I can reach out and grab them, pull them out of the sky and put them into my pockets. I close my eyes once again hoping this moment never ends.

... Man I want this shirt.

After seeing the guy with the shirt drawn on, I get the feeling my chances are as slim as they come, but here's my essay anyways:

+ Show Spoiler +

First Love

When I was chosen as the first alternate in the lottery for the large white CJ shirt I’m now writing to win, I was ecstatic. Weeks of eager anticipation had finally culminated into my one shot. I fell short by a hair, but I was left with hope. If there was anyone else to be given a chance to purchase a large white shirt, it would be me first. Later recounting my good fortune to a friend, he asked, “What are you so happy about? You lost.” Stunned, I pondered the question. Why was I so happy?

I had started playing on low money 1v1’s coming from the mineral rich BGH games, and repeatedly, I was trounced in magnificent fashion. My spirit as broken as my StarCraft pride, I turned to professional gamers for answers. Looking for anything, a certain zerg player caught my eye. I began to see a parallel between myself and all of his opponents; we were all dominated and playing way out of our league. I immediately became a fan, and my interest in progaming grew rapidly. My desire for the game became uncontrollable, and VODs were no longer sufficient. I wanted to feel the rush of watching a game live. Searching for my fix, Team Liquid seemed the most useful site in a language familiar to me. I immediately searched for threads relating to watching games live, and I was pleasantly surprised by the massive fan base outside of Korea. More importantly, I learned the name of my hero, Ma Jae Yoon. Throwing myself passionately into progaming, I felt my love for the sport exceed my love for any other, and finally I understood what drove those crazy fans in stadiums to wave foam fingers or paint their faces. Young and ambitious, I dreamed of the day I would make an expedition to Korea to watch my favorite player and my favorite team. I longed for the day I could sit next to Korean fan girls and scream with them in unison, “MA JAE YOON FIGHTING” or “CJ FIGHTING”. Desperate for an outlet of my fandom, I hunted relentlessly for merchandise relating to either player or team. I would eventually give up after several frustrating hours poking through sites where the language barrier proved too solid to be breached. Finally in 2008, I found it. I found what I had been looking for a year ago; it was exactly what I wanted. The CJ shirt – my opportunity to display my passion to anyone who cared and impose itself upon anyone who doesn’t. Frantically, I looked toward contacts in Korea only to find that they were unable to help without a Korean SSN. With hope all but lost, a post reignited the flame within me. Team Liquid would be receiving CJ shirts. There was one more chance.

Reflecting upon all of this, I realized the answer to his question was simple and unexpected. It’s love; to have even the slimmest chance makes me elated.

We've seen a lost art in the metagame
An era's end
Like your third you can't afford to defend
When we came here today
All I wanted to say
Was how much I miss you

Lost it all to the Terran ball
And some girls you can't afford to pay
When we came here today
We all felt something new
'Cause now you rush hive... and lose

to the tune of Red Eyed and Blue by Wilco

Hey, I may not have CJ as my favorite team icon but theyre still my 2nd/3rd favorite team. Besides I'm not cheating or lying about my favorite team

I hope no one in here puts CJ as their favorite when its not

yeah i thought it was obvious he didn't write, record, upload that in 30 minutes hehe. goear was down and thats why it was 30 minutes late, he was done many hours before the deadline

this is a very difficult decision and all four judges have different opinions too, it will be a very, very close choice. before, i wondered if it was a mistake to do this but after reading so many passionate entries i know now it was worth it
