Type on bnet /help options , for additional ignoring tools for more precise actions. I reported this thread as 'low content' but seemingly mods thinks its worthwhile to have. If everyone posted a thread for every bully attempt on bnet it would be crowded in here. | ||

Ive been on bnet since 98 and im not dead yet and im a cocky MF. If im not dead you wont be. Any multiplayer game has "bullies". It comes with it. Maybe not minecraft, or yes you could destroy others work so yea, thats bullying too. | ||

Think 1-2 years ago i heard of a case where some dude went to some chicks house and literally slit her stomach open and pulled out her intestines then posted it online. I dont necessary point it out as a bad thing, since most people just want to leave and dont get into trouble. Fine for these "honest people", but dont come here pretending like you care as much, because you dont. I have seen the toxic behaviour first hand on your white flagship "The shield battery", and its one chat public shaming. Where are the freedom fighters and vigilantes, when it comes to that ? If you really cared you would start with that part of the community/ game. Since it is much easier to change. Than some random bully, which Blizzard will probally not even consider in 1 million years. | ||

Well do you really want to feel like that 1% for every game you play? Being scared for nothing basically. The cases where this stuff happens is where they leaked their home adress or name. In WoW for example its a cult to play in a clan and there your mates might know your real name and where you live. Its a way different theme compared to bnet where you 1v1 someone quickly and call him a douchebag and gets on with your life. The term "gg no re" is basically calling someone a c*nt after you beat him, in an subtle/amusing way ofc. This has been the case as long as i can remember since multiplaying, im not a native english speaker so i dont know the phrases for this stuff but its a pun way of getting someone on their nerves, feeling angry or whatever just for the case of disturbing them for a while. These killers you talk about they probably have something really ugly going on in their childhood or their current state. They arent the norm. Even if i gave my name/address im pretty sure noone would dare to come to me anyway, and if they do i will show them my arsenal :D Its also worthwhile to remember that giving an IP-Address doesnt magically make them find you. What an IP-Address is, is a link to the node (your service provider) and not to your home. You could however get DDoSed losing your internet connection but thats it. This could happen to anyone of us but these ddos fishes focus on bigger targets than your bnet playing ass. | ||

Most murders are usually done by family members and friends so it's not very hard for a friend to find out where you live through bit of banter, a lot of gamers have yearly real life hang outs, i know starcraft fastest community had one for a whlie, I knew these 2 other groups from another game Cabal Online where they would meet every few months to hang out and drink. Nothing happened ofc really fun times but it's an example of how stupidly easy it is to catch someone off guard. No ofc you shouldn't spend your life scared to log into a game because of the potential crossing paths with a psychopath. All I'm saying is that it has happened so I wouldn't completely exclude yourself. You think these "killers" care if you have a gun, a knife, or a bat sitting in your closet? They are opportunistic people for the most part, I dont think they're going to notify you via email. Like you said these people are mentally unstable and most of us aren't going to go out of our ways because someone spoke trash about our moms but every so often there is that one guy. I want to emphasize that this is not a common occurrence, just saying in the past 10+ years of reddit ive heard of the same scenario happening every few years which had it not been for reddit I would also think it's a once in a lifetime occurrence. | ||
