Hey everyone, it's me tasteless (lol!) and i have some news I'm very excited to share with all of you.
A lot of people have been wondering what the hell happened to me since my casting in WCG Italy and if i would continue to cast for starcraft. In between that time i have been very busy emailing other esports organizations and attempting to get to more Starcraft coverage at other events. Originally i was supposed to be sent to WWI in Korea but there were some mistakes made by GGL and they did not receive the funding in time to send me down there. Imaginably, i was very sad i would not get to cast for you all.
However, i have managed to get in touch with Gameplay HD (http://www.gameplayhd.com/) and i am currently writing commentary scripts for them so that we can have some English analysis of the WWI games. They should be done around august. Unfortunately they already have a commentator lined up and i wont be the one actually speaking, instead he'll be reading from the script i wrote for him. What's great is we will have more English coverage out there!
I have been training two new broadcasters for Starcraft. They are both very experienced Esports broadcasters. One from EsportsTV (http://www.esportstv.com/newsite/) and another from GGL (http://www.esportstv.com/newsite/). They are both learning quickly and i am looking forward to casting some events with them for you all.
I am going to Blizzcon in a few weeks and there will be English coverage for everyone who wants it. I also plan on stealing a few of the koreans and international players and interviewing them. So please tune in for that :D
Finally, i will be going to korea on august 7th to broadcast for the Seoul Esports Festival. This is a huge event with almost ever progamer attending. The stipulation for me going was that i would have to cast Warcraft 3 as well. While i did get top 10 on the War3 ladder shortly after the games release i do not consider myself by any means an acomplished or knowledgeable War3 player, since war3 players are 10x better now. Because of this i probably be doing lead casting rather than color casting. In other words i'll cover basic, generic stuff while i have someone else do more in depth analysis.
I originally vowed to only cast Starcraft for my carrier as a Starcraft caster. I actually turned down a free trip to Germany to cast a war3 tournament because i told them i wouldn't cast an event that didn't host starcraft. However i would HAVE to cast war3 at this event or they said i couldn't go. So i decided i would take them up on it. I also have every intention of doing the best god damn war3 casting you've ever heard in your whole life.
I would also publicly like to ask Klazart to do a free cast with me sometime soon. Day and me still want to co cast together but it's been quite difficult for us to meet up at the same time (he lives in California and i live in Colorado). I also want to encourage more Starcraft casters to get on the scene, i have been very impressed with the casts I've heard on tl.net so far and i want more of them <3
Good to see that some of your English commentator people are trying to team up.
Hopefully more SC and in the future SCII events will be well covered with quality commentating in English.
Anyway, Klazart said during the MSL final that he is willing to do a cast together with Tasteless or others but that he doesn't know how to do it live without technical problems.
Ah, awesome. I really hope you're able to get more action casting starcraft, as you really are the best.
Wc3 has always had issues with the english commentators being rather low key and/or just generally unexcited about the games. Granted, the games usually aren't anywhere near as eventful as starcraft ones are, but when I was into the scene even I was bothered by the lack of enthusiasm. I hope for their sake that you're able to show them a fun side of the game they may not have taken in before. I'm sure you'll be great, as there's a lot of 'downtime' wherein you can make your priceless comments. :D

Tasteless Loves You
Wow!
This is great news. I knew they would pick you to do the scripts. I entered my own request for the job but I am so glad that they got you for the job. I mentioned you as my #1 recommendation in my email to them. I can't wait to see how the commentator uses your scripts. Great work and keep it up man because momentum is on your side.

Some of you may know me from my Counter-Strike commentary I have done with iTG/GGL and TsN before that. For those of you that don't know, I have been commentating for CS 1.6 and CS:S since my first major event in 2004, and I've attended many major tournaments since then as the lead commentator for Counter-Strike. I've travelled to Seoul 5 times for e-sports related trips. I've seen pro starcraft matches in person, and was even mentored by Jun il-Hoon who many consider to be the greatest in the world of Korean Starcraft commentary. I've even lived in Seoul for a period of 8 weeks for the World e-Sports Games which was a tournament that ran both WC3 and CS tournaments I've also attended the WCG grand finals with Nick last year, and really got a chance to see him in action (both commentating AND drinking). Right now I wanted to let you all know that I'll be working with Nick on a project comming up in August, the Seoul e-Sports Festival (a.k.a. e-Stars/a.k.a. e-Stars Seoul). Nick and I have been called upon to commentate the pro-starcraft and pro-warcraft 3 tournaments for this upcomming event. I have been beginning work with Nick on Starcraft commentary and although my background is in FPS games, I wanted you all to know that before I even knew what Half Life was, I was playing Starcraft. I look forward to this great opportunity to learn from someone as talented and knolwedgable as Nick, but I also look forward to be able to be the voice of Starcraft for all of you english-speakers that don't necessarily always have access to english-content for professional starcraft tournaments. I'm not listing all of my accomplishments above to wave my dick in your faces, only to let you know that I am someone who has experienced the progaming scene at its best in Korea, and the opportunity to commentate for you is an honor. I want to bring some of the dynamics and excitement that I try to bring with my FPS commentary to the RTS stage in the form of one of my most favorite games, Starcraft. So please, I may not be the most expert commentator to begin with, so don't be too hard on me, but I want you all to know that I love this game, and will do my best for the community.
Excellent. While it's unfortunate Klaz won't be able to cast with Tasteless as he has retired from casting, at least for quite a while, it's nice to know we have Tasteless back to fill the void. I'm just wondering about the availability of the english casts from the games in Korea. Hopefully there will be a stream with it, although that seems somewhat unlikely..
Hi - I highly suggest that you prepare questions for your interview beforehand. (Just in case you aren't!)
I once watched some westerner interview a Korean pro, but it was quite unstructured and not smooth; the interviewer even mentioned he was thinking up questions of the spot. I think this wastes a bit of the interviewee's time and is disrespectful of the person's limited time at such an event.

that sounds like my interview with nal ra. i was told five minutes before by my boss that we had time for an interview and to get as many questions as humanly possible. this was also my first interview i had ever done. i studdered and stumbeled over my words due to lack of experience. That wont be happening this time since now i know to plan ahead for something like this. honestly that interview is pretty painful for me to watch although i thought nal ras responses were quite good.
I actually had this great interview with midas from wcg that for some reason was never posted on ggl. Anyways i think if you see any more from me they will be better. i do appreciate the input though
