First Round picking order is determined via lottery (the random ball pick in group selection), the following round will be reverse of the previous round, picks are based on the tiers.
First round, coaches pick from tier 1 players then in the second round, coaches pick from tier 2 players, upto 5th tier.
Since some coaches are also players, they must automatically pick themselves in their tier.
All matches are Bo7 with Ace Match Proleague Style.
Set 1 : 1v1 Set 2 : 1v1 Set 3 : 2v2 - Always on Iron Curtain Set 4 : 1v1 Set 5 : 1v1 Set 6 : 3v3 - Always on Fastest Map Possible Set 7 : 1v1 Ace match
I do believe that teams will more or less be set and that there will be trades in future seasons and drafts for non assigned players based on their ASL performance.

That's interesting because that poses the question of future sponsorship, including team sponsors to allow for a similar setup to that of the Global Team Championship in StarCraft II.
I doubt teamhouses will ever be a thing again, but if this new league can create opportunities for sponsorships & salaries like there is the GTC then the future just got brighter.
No JD guess his military service is expected to start soon? (although I've been thinking that for years so who knows)
Soulkey is there though so I guess he won't be re-enlisting any time in the near future Points (for tiers) are based on their performances in Seasons 8&9 so potentially some bargains in later rounds

Also a very interesting format would should make for great banter and entertainment.

Well I guess we all know who is going to get picked first?
Scan lets go buddy you can do it! Scan is such an underdog, and he has been showing super solid play on twitch, i hope he makes it to the big leagues, finally, finally we can see our boy scan taking on the big dogs.

It'll be fucking hilarious when stork randoms first pick and has to pick himself.

stork has to pick himself, coaches have to pick themselves when they reach their tier( well not all are on the list)
I think a lot of people are underestimating 3v3 fmp. There are super competitive games on that map with high level play. Fastest is sort of becoming normalized in the community. Should be entertaining to watch.

This is pretty good news and looks great. I'm a bit disappointed that some notable players that GTR mentioned aren't participating, but otherwise, I'm hoping to see a lot of the Tier 5 players make an appearance and do well. Also, rooting for Scan to get picked and make it!

Yeah, that's what I mean: if he RNGs first pick, he doesn't get the benefit of first pick and then has to pick last for the next tier.
Hiya was one of the greatest players during the Sospa Era. If he gets back to form he should be a tier 2 player easily. He is definitely one of my favorite Terrans.
Not sure whether I saw it anywhere but will there be an English cast for this? Excited but honestly a BW noob (never played it, only watched) so would be nice to know what's kinda going on (or maybe I should enrol in them Korean classes...)
Mind - Military in July Sea[Shield] - Finishing military duties late July/Early August. Rain - He's active in mobile games. Horang2 - Active in LOL/TFT/Just chatting. Still plays SC but don't think he's playing in this Team league. His ASL point totals are too high compared to his current skill.
Really want these teams to develop young amateurs like soma in this team league.
It isn't just Last. I watched a recent muk-bang stream with Rain & 3 others and noticed Rain was wearing a large wrist brace on his left wrist. So clearly Rain is having issues as well.
Fastest Map Possible is definitely very competitive. I know it's not a *standard* map that many hardcore players scoff at, but it contains a lot more macro than a typical map. Because you're not forced to expand, you focus fully on making a lot of units and microing them effectively. There are also many creative strategies to attack your opponent's cluster, cannon rushes are viable, etc.
I think protoss is best on FMP, does anyone have balance thoughts? The combination of zealot pressure, cannons early into a bevvy of scary tech like reaver drops, storm drops, and carriers...plus mass cannons in late game all around your nexus? It's pretty impressive how unbreakable a Protoss can be in FMP.

The players have been managing their own training for years. Who is going to tell Flash how to train and expect Flash to follow them?

For the draft.
The idea is that it prevents one or more teams from drafting a larger number of the best players and thus have a distinct competitive advantage. For example imagine having Flash, Rain, Last, Soulkey, & ZerO on the same team? That would be inherently unfair.
The 2nd reason is it gives the players listed in Tier 5 a chance to play in casted events and given exposure. Most of those in Tier 5 aren't, for the most part, good enough to regularly qualify for the ASL.

Well, A team would only get "the top 5 players" (Flash, Rain, Last, Soulkey and Zero) if no other team picks them? Also teams would be forced to pick lesser players either way when the better ones are gone. Without tiers, the teams themself would have to judge what player fits their team best and allow maximum creativity. F.e, since they have a 3v3 format maybe they want three specific players that have good synergy and practice in team games. That will be hard with the tier division, since two of those three players can be in the same division and there's no chance to get them both.
Yeah thats strange, I seem to remember Soma being tier one, so they must have that option available to them (to pick from below tiers) except if they are in such tier.
FBH's team is good. However I think Piano actually has made very good team. 2v2 Is where Piano is strongest, Mini and Calm are no slough in fastest and Zero can take down any player plus Bishop is good for his tier.
I wish Scan would've made it on the tier 5 side, would've been great to see someone playing in this that is close with the foreigner community. And not just for that reason, I actually think Scan is better than some of the Tier 5s that were drafted.

scan needs to get some results/placements in the korean tourneys to get more recognition which both mighty (2nd in castermuse tourney) and bishop (2nd in afreeca challenger) have done
On June 14 2020 23:11 MinixTheNerd wrote: wait did stork pick himself?
Because he had to. All coaches that also play has to pick themselves in that tier.
Also, I was so sure that Scan would be picked considering how he has performed on the ladder, but I don't know what kind of relationship he has with any of the coaches.

In football this is a pretty common mind game to put the pressure to perform on the opponents. But when it's done towards the players or pointing fingers at just one or two players it usually just goes wrong nowadays. Then it can start to get ugly, the coach "loses the dressing room" as in players stop listening/care or believe in their coach and goals.
I dunno how he said it here, I don't know if the way he worded it in korean is a common thing that doesn't literally mean only that. In most pre game interviews top players humbly talk down their chances unless it's like Larva, he does his cocky showmanstyle. Korean culture is different from my homecountry, so I'm not gonna just apply what those words woud mean if said in Sweden.
Did he do it with hatred in his eyes or jokingly? Did everyone there who knows him get quiet and wonder what's wrong with this pathetic lose Or did they laugh? Does he already know all the players? Yes. Is he their friend or their coach? Well both now but he had been their coach for like 15 minutes and Friend for years.
I think ur likely to quick on the trigger here. When in the video does he say this?

They put him as the 8th pick while he has to pick himself in the first round. This is as good as it gets. I know why people are pissed but it makes no sense, the only thing they can argue about is that Stork should have had to pick himself in the 2nd round and be part of draw with the balls. For a forced first round pick, 8th is the absolute best he can get.
And no, this is just one of the many things Stork has complained about. He also lied and bullied people, among other things. I don't think you know what you're talking about. Let me ask you this: Why do you think Stork has so few viewers compared to Jaedong, Flash and Bisu? Because of his form? Jaedong took forever to get back to his form and still constantly had thousand of viewers. Stork lost all of his fans as soon as he opened his stream on Afreeca TV.

1. Afreeca tried to get old school progamers as coaches but they all declined so they asked if Stork can do it. At first he declined but they convinced him by telling him they'll make the point system balanced for him.
2. 2 days before the asl teamleague update they changed the rules on him so he his tier 1 and has to pick himself. Stork talks to admins to instead let him be 8th pick. After talking with other coaches and players, the admins agreed to this.
3. While all this is happening, Stork is closing the deal and settling terms with the sponsor he acquired.
4. On the day of the draft they flipped the script on him and not only is he self picked for tier 1, he's also 8th pick. 5. The terms and conditions he contracted with the sponsor is all fucked because of the last minute rule changes.

Jangbi never wanted to start beef with Stork but there's a video that someone took of Flash, Stork and some other gamers bad mouthing Jangbi and threatening to bully him out of streaming altogether. You people can call bullshit all you want, but these are real things and most of them never wanted to admit the success of Jangbi and even lied about all the other gamers practicing SC2 which is why Jangbi could win back-to-back OSLs. Sharp proved that to be wrong and was really confused about Stork behavior toward Jangbi's success. He seemed really jealous for some reason. Watch the finals of Jangbi vs Fantasy and you can see the difference in reactions from everyone that is not Stork.
I could keep going but I'll stop. Just know that Jangbi is purposefully not saying anything bad about Stork because he's completely over Starcraft after that whole debacle. He doesn't want to start drama and said he was 100% done with the game. Korean fans are quick to remember Flash of that whole incident even though he apologized after that video surfaced.

Stork has cheated on his girlfriend. So yeah, confirmed piece of shit. That information is public. Also, Stork has more influence than you think.
And, again, if he has to pick himself in the first round, being the 8th pick is the best possible scenario. I don't understand how you can argue otherwise. You can argue about him being in the second round instead of the first, but these 2 scenarios have no correlation. Honestly, yeah he did get screwed, but not for what you're saying. He should have been tier 2, not tier 1.
Stork constantly had 2k-3k viewers when he was streaming in the past. After all the Jangbi drama (I would call it bullying), he dropped a lot of viewers and is not mostly around 200 (I think?).

when did this happen and what did flash said?
About 2017, when they had a clan meeting (neox clan). Flash was drunk and said he'd use his influence and sponsors to make Jangbi quit forever. Stork had the same opinion. Like I've said, Flash has since then apologized, but Stork hasn't. Jangbi is gone forever after this. People believe that it is because when Jangbi was asked who were the best players according to him (on Sharp's stream), he didn't mention Flash (he mentioned Bisu and Jaedong being the best players, so I guess he was jealous?). For Flash, it could be argued that he was just drunk and he becomes pretty mean when he's drunk, because he did eventually apologize...

I don't think Flash can play in all of these, at least if its like the format they use to play on streams. Also, I disagree with the warning you got, these kinds of aspects matter a lot in practical performance (team 8 hehe) and might influence later seasons (Soulkeys military is still there, next draft etc).

Yeah I hope you are right about Flash, that would be so overpowered
As for your second point, I totally agree. One person's complaints lead to a lot of people complaining about the draft system now. If he didn't say anything and just said he'll try to win and is satisfied with his team, no one would have even complained about the draft system in the first place. This constant toxic whining from him and now trashing the league on the live stream like this is really not good for bw imo. I still agree with my warning though, I have no problem with it. I should leave my personal bias out of this. I already regret talking about this but it needs to be known, the negative effects of some particular ex-pros are really starting to become clear, and as a big bw fan, I obviously want nothing but the best for the scene. Cheers.
Thank you for your posts, Essbee. There is a real gap in the KR fans and the international fans because most of us here don't speak Korean. It's like a whole different world, where we can mostly only judge players based on their gameplay (or just blindly their results #shade), especially because a lot of the interviews are so sterile / lose nuance in translation.
I fell in love with Stork's gameplay long ago but even still I appreciate you making this stuff known.
On June 15 2020 01:25 Essbee wrote: Sorry I don't know if this kind of post is permitted but Stork is a pathetic loser. My wife translated for me what he said and he already gave up and thinks his team sucks (wow...). It's already well known that he never stop whining so I feel terrible for the players he drafted. Something is seriously wrong with this guy.
WOAH WOAH WOAH. Watch how you speak about the Storku. Relax bro.
Sorry man, he made Jangbi disappear forever by being a total dick, so yeah. He deserves all the hate he's currently getting.
how did he made JangBi disappear forever? I missed something I think.. please elaborate.
Basically bullied him out of streaming along with Flash. Flash apologized, Stork hasn't. Jangbi struggled with confidence issues his whole career. So yeah, it didn't take much for them to make him stop streaming.
when did this happen and what did flash said?
About 2017, when they had a clan meeting (neox clan). Flash was drunk and said he'd use his influence and sponsors to make Jangbi quit forever. Stork had the same opinion. Like I've said, Flash has since then apologized, but Stork hasn't. Jangbi is gone forever after this. People believe that it is because when Jangbi was asked who were the best players according to him (on Sharp's stream), he didn't mention Flash (he mentioned Bisu and Jaedong being the best players, so I guess he was jealous?). For Flash, it could be argued that he was just drunk and he becomes pretty mean when he's drunk, because he did eventually apologize...
all this drama... I appreciate you providing this information because this is stuff that we don't hear about at all. Most on here heard the story about Jangbi deciding that streaming is not for him, moving from SC and going to work at his dad's factory.
However, before Flash and Stork came back to the scene, he played SC during the SSL days, in SSL9 and 10 (dunno why no 11 lol): 2014-2015 10th SonicTV Starleague . Either way, it's truly sad if this is how things transpired and if it led Jangbi to decide that streaming BW is not for him. I've personally lost respect to both players, though less so for Flash since he at least apologized. Stork though, let's leave it at that.
We have a tendency to regard these progamers as disembodied minor deities (language and culture barrier helps), but occasionally we are reminded of their rather juvenile nature and tendencies succumb to many garden variety human conditions. You'd hear about "path of night" style stories from time to time back in the day, but the lid has really come loose post KeSPA.
Does anybody here have any knowledge about how the clans breakdown, and who is in which clan currently?
shuttle and stork joined "Never Ending Oral Sex"(Yes. It really means that) yesterday. JD said he's not going to join somewhere stacked like NeOx (Flash, Bisu, Stork, Effort, Shuttle, Larva, Terror, Sea, etc....). Of all the notable BW BJs only Mind and Best didn't join up with any of the 2 clans. They are both staying with [WHITE] clan. NVM Best joined Moo.

Points were given based on how far the players got in Seasons 8 and 9 of ASL for some players, who were unable to participate in those starleagues because of military service for example (eg. Bisu, hero), results from previous starleagues were used instead.

If he really was a piece of shit why do the other progamers always look for him for spon proleagues, why do they chill with him off stream, and visit his wife's clothing store to make purchases?
Stork has cheated on his girlfriend. So yeah, confirmed piece of shit. That information is public. Also, Stork has more influence than you think.
You're throwing in so much stuff I have no idea what's you're point. Why are you triggered? The group selection was highly debateable because of the before mentioned rules...

something as notable as flash issuing an apology for being a dick to jangbi should have a clip or youtube for something so significant. there might be some truth in there but whole thing just reeks of classic ygosu exaggeration/drama shit stirring

agree with you like please any reliable sources for that claim?
i have my doubts like if anything we know from streaming and getting to know flash is such class act a standup guy would not bully someone unless it was just humor and not too serious..(my gut feeling)
You're literally taking to heart the toxic lies of ygosu threads posted by people like Goni(infamous for creating malicious lies about progamers, who recently got sued and had to pay a fine to stork)
Here is a video dated Jan 3,2020 from Firebathero talking about a off-stream dinner he had. Stork and Jangbi was both there. If they had bad blood they would never be having dinner together.

I'm totally ready to admit I'm wrong if proven otherwise. But a lot of these things have happened on video and there's proof. I'll give you proofs later. Stork cheating on his wife/girlfriend (+ a child) isn't something I made up. Maybe the thing about Jangbi is made up? I don't think so, I just gotta find that neox video and that Sharp one. I honestly would hope what I'm saying is bullshit and we could all rest easy on Stork and Flash, but some of these things I've seen with my own eyes on stream... I don't even know if the videos exist anymore but I swear I'll try to find them if you want. I hope you are right and there's a way to prove everything I've said is wrong... I'll reply to you later.
But back in 2019 there was a big issue where his wife "cheated" on him. A high donation viewer came out saying he cheated with Jiyu behind Storks back and what not and the Stork/Jiyu couple reputation went to utter shit back in 2019. But after keeping quiet for like half a year, they were gathering evidence/data to take the guy to court.
This rumor was debunked after half a year of slander they had to face and the community turned on itself because they were all talking shit with no proof.
Here is the video of that situation. Stork and Jiyu take the guy to court and wins.

I assume your korean is better than mine, so maybe you can verify.
I don't know man at this point I think you just want to believe all this bullshit.
From what i remember they all met up after that incident and had drinks and apologized. Then after they even played spon team battles together after that incident. Like i said if they're meeting up for food and drinks in 2020 do you really think they have problems?
Anyway I'm so done with this you can believe what you want to believe.
I think the tier list on page 1 really shows the ridiculous skill gap in BW is. Those tier 5 guys get to 2400-2500 on ladder pretty easily and anyone who gets to that rank is pretty dam good. But above that there's still 4 other tiers and a still huge gap between tier 1 and 5. Amazing when you think about it.

I'm not even denying what you're saying. I'm glad if you want to prove me wrong, and after everything you've told me (about that dude making fake stories), you made me research more. If I can just limit my negative opinion of Stork on his constant whining, I'll be happy about it. I have no reason to have a bias for or against someone. I always respected Stork's game. But you just call it bullshit because they met for drinks lol, Jangbi just doesn't care at this point. He said that already. He's an introverted guy. Meanwhile, Stork's general personality leads me to believe these stories, but yeah, they could be fabricated. I'm not sure about that cheating story anymore. I initially just wanted to limit this to his whining and lack of effort, but you pushed me to talk about these stories. Seriously, look at the finals again when Jangbi wins. Look at Stork's reaction vs his other teammates...

I think it's FBH who talked about the ladder points being meaningless for progamers. Like, the difference between S rank and progamers is just as large as a regular S rank gamer and like B or C. I don't remember what FBH said exactly but it was along those lines :D

Ahhhh ok I know this. This is a different story by the way. This is about his wife cheating on him and it was proven to be false. That has nothing to do with Stork.
But again, it could be false, just going with what we have. But if you ask ME personally, I have absolutely zero respect for anyone who cheats on someone even once and even if they apologize for it.
Anyway... that's just my take and my info on it. Stork has reached a boiling point in my mind and that's what led me to my initial post. Some people like it, some don't but I felt like I needed to share this with the people. I've already received negative PMs, I'm sorry to you people who do not like this, I really am. Some people do like it and are happy to know more about these human beings.
I repeat. I will be ABSOLUTELY GLAD TO BE PROVEN WRONG. I have nothing but respect for starcraft and I want to it to live forever. I wish nothing but for Stork to be known as this whining and somewhat lazy but insanely talented protoss with a low apm but incredible decision-making. I am someone who can separate the person from the player. I was always a big fan of Flash despite the controversies surrounding him. I can appreciate how incredible of a player he is.
I wouldn't have talked about this if I didn't believe that their behavior could end up hurting starcraft as much as something like the match-fixing scandal did. They are at the head of starcraft, they are the players people will look up to for starcraft, they've got to be careful with what they do (in my opinion). This is important for the future of starcraft.
AfreecaTV said they wanted to go at least until ASL season 60 (!!!!). I think Stork bad mouthing them live for a league that is for the fans (a teamleague that everyone wanted) is something that I felt that definitely crossed the line (again...).
I can end this on a positive note by saying that this era of streaming made me appreciate the personality and general positive influence of many many ex-progamers. In particular, I've gained a lot of respect for: - Snow (helps growing the game, helps new players, interviews ex-gamers...) - Midas (forced into LoL to keep his stream alive, tried to delete his account because he wanted to stick to BW but he wasn't popular enough to continue streaming, so he made a new LoL account, I'm very happy that he is still dedicated to BW and being a coach and all, and the chinese starleague) - Larva (organizing tournaments, just fun/crazy personality, insanely dedicated and practices super hard, especially pushing the ZvT meta/strategies) - Zero, Best, hero, Light (all constantly getting better and becoming real prominent players who help shape the general quality of the games we are getting daily)
Not all is grim, sorry for the undertone of my initial post, I don't want to give this bad impression about the korean starcraft scene. The scene is definitely growing and most gamers are doing the right thing for starcraft to stay alive for a long time. I love you all, even Stork if most of what I said is proven to be fabricated (god I hope it is...). Cheers.

The state of Starcraft is the only thing that matters to me, more than my fandom. Look, Daniel, I like you, we talked before. Please, don't let your fandom get in the way though. You are obviously a fan of Stork. I am a fan of Starcraft. I can change my favorite player whenever I want, I don't get attached to any athlete, music band, players or celebrities. I let their art/play amaze me and limit it at that. I don't claim to be better than you because of this, that's just what I personally do to avoid disappointment. Savior and Last disappointed me. I always liked Stork and was hoping he would do well for Protoss' sake. Jangbi happened to do just that by proving the strength of Protoss and my reaction after all this was that it bred jealousy inside Stork for not being the most prominent Protoss of Samsung Khan anymore. Just my thoughts, could be wrong.
And I wasn't serious when I used "piece of shit", it was just because I quoted the other post so I used the same words lol. I would use different and more specific words if I wanted to call someone out. Maybe I should have quoted that myself when I replied.

No its okay. Uh yes, I have strong standards when it comes to cheating, so thanks I guess? The year has nothing to do with it... and it has not been proven wrong until now. Seeing Stork's overall personality is enough for me to believe it. And also, whenever Stork is against the wall for other controversies, he will argue very fiercely if he believes he is right. Pretty strange that he decided to ignore the cheating scandal.
Sorta feel bad for Best since he never wins anything and his team looks like the underdog... The guy is way better than his individual tournament standings say (he beat Queen in the most recent Race War tournament)
I wish GoRush picked Mini, Soulkey or Larva (maybe in that order) over Ssak in the second round
I'm also very curious as to how good Free is right now (pretty sure he's better than his tier)

GoRush couldn't have done that since the draft is serpentine. That means Stork had pick 8 and 9, and then it goes in reverse order back to 1 (so the first pick gets 1 and 16, for example). So soulkey was essentially picked 9th, and Ssak was picked 12th
Free is playing quite a lot these days, he's getting better and better. I think midas knocked it out of the park with his draft... all these players can be very very good. To answer your question, yeah, he was picked early in the 3rd round (he was "supposed" to go in the 5th).

In that case, GoRush definitely should have picked Action or Soma over Ssak I think.
I just checked Free's channel, and he's mid 2400, which is pretty high.

Oh I meant that stream after ASL 6 match with Effort where Last tried to explain how he felt after all online harass and declining health. Midway he broke down and started crying and had to turn stream down.
Ok just checked the story, I will go back on my words and say sorry for my opinion about Last. During the ASL6, he played in the semifinals against Effort and Effort beat him 3-2 at that time. After the match, korean people spammed his stream with "tesagi" and he tried to contain his emotions and said he took painkillers to endure the pain in his wrist and still play in the ASL and people wouldn't recognize his efforts (pun intended) and just blame the terran race for him being able to go that far. All of this despite Last being a well known hard worker. And you know who happened to push the "tesagi" agenda (it was not really a big thing before the afreecatv era)? So, despite Last crying and being bullied by tons of fans, no one seemed to want to apologize and even doubled down on it and didn't want to admit their fault (Or try to help the guy? And Sea, oh well, I'm not even gonna start on him, but let's just say that he has his own reputation already.
Not only this, but both Sea and Stork laugh at Last taking detailed notes about the TvZ matchup because they say they don't do this themselves (what a surprise) and think it's ridiculous. Let that be clear, THEY LAUGH AT HIM FOR TRYING TO WIN GAMES AND BE BETTER.

LOL all this proves is you take things at face value and you understand 0 about Afreeca streaming culture. The way Sea handled it is the epitome of 방방봐, 채채봐. You gotta gain viewers 민심 by being lighthearted. Afreeca was and is still like that till this day. If he went all serious and told viewers to stop saying tesagi, the flaming/trolling would have gotten 100x worse for Last.
You can go look up anyone that has fucked up and had a "새탁" stream. It's just the person getting roasted nonstop until the viewers finally feel like its okay and time to move on.

Ok, but why are the comments so negative on that video? That's what just makes no logic to me. Are you saying that ALL these koreans are unaware of that "afreeca streaming culture"? Bullying someone for playing starcraft is part of a culture? I know what you mean but I just fail to grasp the logic with everything you've told me and what I've seen.
Are you saying that most korean viewers also don't understand that streaming culture? Genuinely curious.
Because there is something called 감성 in korea streaming culture. Twitch vs youtube vs afreeca vs popcorn.
Afreeca is hardcore/stupid/immmature to Korean youtube fans while Afreeca fans think youtube fans are too 십선비 which is like way to PC, and can't take a joke, stick up their ass. So they conflict a lot. Chul9 recently explained the difference between afreeca and youtube viewers briefly, i'll try to look for that clip.
This might be off topic but I've been re-watching ASL casts recently because you know they're worth re-watching I watched whatever ASL group it was where Nada almost beat Lava by nuking his sunkens, What a fucking game! So desperate. Anyway it just made me think Where's Nada? he's not participating in this? What's he up to? Maybe he has other commitments, maybe he just doesn't want part of it for whatever reason. But he'd have made a great coach for this.

But you know, Last won ASL 7. The true reason is that his hands are just so messed up, he cannot play seriously anymore. Last had a lot of these kinds of breakdowns in between KSL 2 and ASL 7. During that one teamleague where he was paired with JyJ and ggaemon (and Cadenzie if I remember correctly) he went in full rage mode during draft and had to apologize. Now this we know already, during ASL7, KSL3 and ASL8 Last goes to hospital daily, we see him having again that 350-400 apm against Sharp Rain and Mini. Then during ASL8 he has under 200 apm...
So if it is just fun and entertaiment, then at least we have examples like Jaedong and Last who ruined their health and gaming ability in order to still win. Then you have likes of Sea... Maybe its the streaming culture and something we nonkoreans just dont get. Now Last cannot even play spongames nor take part of teamleagues because his hands are so badly messed up. Sorry for this wall of text.

I also said that,he would be really great coach as he is genius player with great mechanic and tactics! Any info about Tastosis casting this ASL team league?
Tasteless mentioned during one of his streams that they were not asked to cast this. And that is probably due to budgets, or smthn, because they, as casters, need to be paid for casting. I think that sponsors either don't have the budget or don't think it is a good investment.
Iron Curtain! My favorite 2v2 map. Me and my clanmate used to win that one on clanwars regularly. Such a great map, and so many abuses that you can do.

Dont have budget to pay two guys to cast games so everyone outside of Korea (rest of the world) can watch and understand? :D I dont wanna believe in that,im sure they will cast games!
I don't even care if it will be Tastosis who casts this.. may be even someone else, anyone really.. the most important thing is that we have an english cast from this huge event

It's probably sadly true that any potential revenue from an English stream wouldn't match the cost of paying the guys to cast it. But I hope the event takes off anyway.

Sorry if I missed your previous comment. But yeah, if he doesn't have the mechanics and speed anymore he sure has the brain for it. I'd love to see him sending rookies out with crazy schemes to bring down the mighty players they are up against.
It's obvious that we foreigners really, really want Tastosis to be casting this. Most of us are older and have a job. I think AfreecaTV should put up events for these types of tournaments (KCM, ASL, ASL Team League, etc) like a month in advance where we can pay x dollars to subscribe for the content and if the goal is reached they get to cast, else ppl get their money back and it's cancelled. This is prob easier said than done but currently we are getting ASL content for free, and i think they can make more money of tastosis casting, which means we also get more of it. Win win.
Whats stoping him from making an afreeca stream and start building his path?apart from cadenzie idk any foreigner broodwar player streaming on afreeca residing in Korea.I think he should jump and take this opportunity.

Tastosis is on another level of casting! Cadenzie know much about BW and thats a fact, but my ears hurt when i try to listen hear mumble. Rapid scream all the time durint the cast like a girl,No regret is not BW guy and Nyoken is ok,but non of them come near Tastosis and thats a fact!

I've been wondering the same thing for a while. Early on I thought they accepted donations, then for a few seasons they sold ASL clothes (the ugly sweaters from whichever season that was), but nothing now. I'd be happy to pitch in for an english broadcast or buy an ASL jacket from last season.
I think the foreigner fans are a small but passionate community and so would definitely be willing to pay-to-view this in order to get an English cast. I know I would, at least.
No, judging from the thread, we would rather Afreeca pay instead of us, for a very specific 2 people to cast. But only those 2, everybody else can go cast for free it seems, but not them.

Agree about Rapid being hard to listen to but i find Cadenzie great tbh and would love to hear her cast again. May be nyoken/denzie?

What do you even mean? I don't get your point.
It seems like there are quite a lot of us who would want to pay to watch Afreecas team league with english commentators, I would prefer Tastosis at the moment but others would be fine as well.
The most important thing is that Afreeca should make it easier for us foreign fans to give them money. I want to support the league.

I'd also pay good money to have an English cast to this league (I have a feeling it's going to be really epic and a commentary I can understand would make it so much better). I'd prefer Tastosis, of course, but any pair would do... Is there anything we can do about this?

Personally I’d be happy to hear a player of her level cast in English.

Agree about Rapid being hard to listen to but i find Cadenzie great tbh and would love to hear her cast again. May be nyoken/denzie?
cadenzie with that overly feminine high pitch voice its a terrible experience to listen to
bad take.
if I were to give her constructive feedback it's that she's too soft-spoken sometimes and needs to enunciate more. her overall commentary is solid, though.
Groups are disappointing because the best 2v2 team names will not be realized. I'm thinking especially about missed opportunities with FlashLight and SexyBeast.
If Movie had participated we could have seen the ActionMovie team we've all been waiting for.
Instead we'll have to settle for MiniPiano and MisoNoob.

I have no idea how you can make such accusations without giving any sources. I also googled a bit with my non-existing Korean and google translate and could find nothing. Here is some korean wiki which seems fairly up to date, and it also doesn't list anything. namu.wiki
It's more likely that he is just not really interested in bw anymore.

The fuck are you talking about? Delete the post then if you are not sure and depend on fucking google translate off of language you don't understand, especially on serious accusation
He is busy working on online retail company he set up and showed up last month on firebathero's mini interview and says his skill really died down and doesn't really play 1v1s and is focusing on his real life right now.
Just stupid how some people post without any information.
You manage to consistently post garbage posts before this. I think it's about time you think before you post.
Groups: - A (Pusan, FBH, Piano, Zeus) - B (Iris, Stork, Midas, GoRush)
Upcoming matches: - June 28th is going to be Pusan's team vs FBH's team - June 30th is going to be Iris's team vs Stork's team - July 5th is going to be Midas's team vs GoRush's team - July 7th is going to be Piano's team vs Zeus's team
Extra players for each team (captains could draft extra players from the last tier if they wanted): - Pusan: - - FBH: ArtUser (Zerg) - Iris: - - Stork: - - Midas: Scan (Terran), Motive (Protoss) - GoRush: Kante (Zerg) - Piano: ByuL (Terran), trOt (Terran) - Zeus: -
So the initial announcement said it was always 2v2 third set and 3v3 sixth set, but the schedule posted looks like they're changing the order? It's always third and sixth sets, but sometimes they do it the other way around.

No idea which of these are actually sponsors, but these are the team names I've seen (listed by coach):
Pusan: Afreeca Midas: resun'z Zeus: isoi Gorush: Glorious FBH: Charariyo Piano: Top Toon Iris: Stealth Stork: Great Escape
Would be funny if Stork indeed chose the track from the OSL in which he got yet another silver... Is this a subtle dig at Afreeca/Flash/the draft yet again?? haha
I'm excited for the first game. I really hope this tournament is at least semi successful, Broodwar really needs this. Some of you guys will be all into the streams watching, living and playing Broodwar everyday. But there must be tonnes of casual viewers like me who get excited about each ASL and then almost end up forgetting about Broodwar waiting for the next big tournament to come along. Having a team league where we have basically weekly entertainment in at least semi important games should really help fill in the gaps between the ASLs and keep Broodwar closer to the forefront of my mind.

Totaly agree with you! We just need english caster for this league, cuz its really hard to watch it with korean casters yelling all the time and i dont understand a word of it Its only 5 days till this start,i hope they will confirm english casters in next two days!

Don't worry, you'll get used to it and pretty soon you won't be able to watch BW without the Korean casters :-)
Don't a ton of Korean viewers watch ASL re-streamed on their favourite streamer's AfreecaTV channel? Surely an English caster would be allowed to do that provided they streamed solely on AfreecaTV as well?
Given the Afreeca team are appearing under the name of 'AfreecaTV Heroes' as opposed to the already established 'Afreeca Freecs' brand I wouldn't get too hopeful about the longevity of these sponsorship deals

I don't think so since the Freecs name's meaning comes from the term CS=creep score in MOBA: freecs = free farm = dominate the lane = win game. Thus Freecs is a very LoL/MOBA-oriented team name.
On the other hand, Pusan was a player of MBCGame HERO, another broadcast company just like AfreecaTV, so it is both fitting and a cool tribute to the old team name with AfreecaTV Heroes, like a reincarnation of the BW team.
The team Freecs is derived from the word ‘free’ and ‘freak’, which represents our mission to continuously take on new and exciting challenges in the esports industry.
Afreeca Freecs logo was created by taking the first letter of Freecs(‘F’) and designing it to resemble strong and sharp wings. The logo represents the Freecsteam taking a giant leap with their wings, challenging boundaries through endless imagination.

Will the VODs of ASTL eventually be available on AfreecaTV eSports YT channel like it is for SC2 ? Timestamping videos on-the-fly is still a problem with the Afreeca player for linking any specific match and it lags for many of our viewers.

I do not believe there are any plans of uploading the full VODs to YouTube at this time. As far as I know, they are only uploading highlights. Here is the current playlist.

Oh, great. You may as well consider putting some geographical restriction on afreecaTv so that no foreigner is able to watch it without a vpn.

Yeah, and it is little surprise considering the lack of official English cast.
I personally stopped watching after eonzerg's last cast because: - afreeca stream does not work well - I have no idea who half of the players are - the level of play is obviously lower than ASL or other major tournaments - all the "team" stuff is pointless if you can't understand a word of what the players say - I am clueless about pro strategies in 2v2 / 3v3
All of this could be fixed with proper English cast, ideally on YouTube. Tasteless has stated multiple times that he was interested. I don't see any reason it would get less audience than regular ASL, because honestly, the tournament looks great.
But as it is, it seems one really needs to be a hardcore fan to enjoy it as a foreigner :-(

a company doesn't want to spend resources on something that generates literally no return on investment? wow, ok

I dont know, is that really no return at all ? Wouldn't Gillette be interested to advertise to foreigners, too ? Are we really so few that it's not worth it ?

I'm guessing this is a sponsorship by Gillette Korea, so yes, they likely don't care about reaching one or two hundred live viewers elsewhere in the world which can't buy their product. Commercially speaking, the foreign audience is unfortunately completely negligible, so your entitled attitude is misguided at best.

Did things change?
First it was ok, then another team internally said that by providing a clean feed it could be interpreted that we violated our contract with Blizzard. That's not to say that Eonzerg/Cruiser0929 are not able to cast over the ASTL. We are just not legally able to provide the clean feed unfortunately.
Truthfully it's probably not nearly as big of a deal as they make it seem. They said a similar thing about the ASL once, but then it turned out to be fine. I understand though, that they live in total fear of Blizzard.

Not so long ago, AfreecaTV used to provide both [ENG] and [KOR] ASL VODs on youtube. At that time, the number of views on english VODs was about 20% of the korean VODs. Hiring 2 casters to reach 20% more audience sounds like a good deal to me, but maybe I'm missing something.

Is this true at all?
Like 20k+ or whatever would watch britney watch asl alone. Many koreans watched asl through other popular streamers, plus they can more readily watch live so less would watch the vods, theres no way the english audience is 20% of the korean audience.
*Edit first portion- the asl s9 vods did better than i thought, looked like 60k - 100k views on them*
This is all USA math, but for a "free" stream:
A median salary in Seoul is like $18 USD per hour, making math simple and lowballing say 1 english caster costs $100 for the gig (say, audio only english cast, no camera person, no makeup, etc).
Quick google seatch is like ad views/youtube creators can get paid $20 per 1000 ad views (rounding up), or about $3 to $5 per actual 1000 views. If thats the going rate advertisers use in paying content creators, gillette/afreeca need like 10,000 direct ad views that will actually have a revenue stream back to them to even break "even" on the generous math of 2 casters cost.
Consider also its likely the viewers are 90% the same week over week, so the return per viewer declines. If the english audience paid subcriptions (like twitch) or paid balloons (afreeca), afreeca could have incentive for a smaller audience retention, but the audience is too small and the money isnt there as people dont pay any premium.
And all that comes at at the opportunity cost of spending that money elsewhere for afreeca or the sponsor -- gillette digital advertising on afreeca could reach more audience dumping a random ad on some korean chick streamer than paying a professional english studio stream. That may even be true for the korean starcraft stream, but there is incentive for afreeca/sponsor to host a broodwar event as it is very popular currently and also supports diverse content for the platform.
That all said, i do hope the playoffs or finals of this league throws on an official english cast. Finals can draw in more viewers, and probably almost all the viewers watching now will also watch the finals.

I dont get why you dont know who is playing...all players have their nick name besides their korean name (at least in game). The announcer gives both the team and player english/romanized version in the introduction (besides, neither Eon nor tastosis would give a lot more info on these new, lesser known players...you would end up searching for them in LP anyway). "the level of play is lower" is mostly subjective, as we have had a lot of cool games already, despite some duds. Besides, apart from ASL dont know which "major" tournaments are there tbh that give you this idea.
What makes you think any caster wouldnt be as clueless as you in "pro" 2v2 and 3v3? Apart from 2v2 in very old PL, its not like there was a proper foreign competitive scene for this. But if you are good enough in 1v1(I assume since it is not mentioned as something missing anywhere in your post), Im pretty sure you have already seen a shift and quite a few adjustments in the latest 2v2/3v3 in comparison to the first week of the league.
It would be cool to have english cast yes, but the sentiment going on in this thread by a few people is, IMHO, not fair. Afreeca is doing great by giving us a team league that so many of us craved for so long to have back. If it grows enough and shows potential to other sponsors, maybe in the future it can be worth it and make sense to them to have an english cast. For now, be happy there is a team league and new games to watch despite being 2020.

StarCastTV is worth a look. They have a patreon to support their stuff. FlashFTW is doing a great job and it’s a massive treat when Nyoken pops in. If that got bigger might turn people onto the foreigner interest.

Spot on 100%! I'm personally glad that we are getting a BW team league in 2020 and the players seem to be having a blast too. Only thing I would love to see is closer games, but I've only managed to watch the first couple of days so maybe things will get better as the best teams start to play each other.
