Could you be more specific? Is that ears or skyglow?

goodlove (our resident gosu korean) scarcely plays anymore, rookie is terrible pvz and pvp, sky is inactive, im inactive even, gag[sharky] is inactive, eunji is around i guess.. last i heard he was on seige; but he was flawed- in his conduct at the very least

I'm interested in starting a New Zealand team, not a gosu-Koreans-who-happen-to-live-here team. The skill level of Kiwi players doesn't concern me. Their interest, activity and commitment does. You give me a list of apparently decent players who don't play any more, but I have a list of active, enthusiastic players who'd love to give this their best shot.

all our traditional sources of strength have gone, trust me..

We'll see.

We have a New Zealand Starcraft forum at www.teamaus.org . Though it is inactive, you can find the contacts of some of the NZ players there.

Thanks

Fonger I have been to new zealand once, doesn't that qualify me?... Im from Canada, so we are both part of the commonwealth... I've never made love to a sheep but I've thought about it a lot...

Can I join?

Actually the idea of a commonwealth team is a pretty good one. There are isolated pockets of players from the UK, Australia, NZ, and other spots. Alone it is difficult, maybe together they can thrive.

A commonwealth team would pretty much be Canada + Midian.

Is eRas still active? He's from NZ and quite good!

Fine, but you have to bring Testie with you.

Sounds cool :D However, Australia already has national A and B teams, and many of their players are considerably better than anyone we can field. I don't know much about the UK scene, but Midian can try out for the team if he's lucky.

eRaS still plays, and yeah he's probably the best Kiwi player at this point I sounded him out about the idea yesterday, and he was less than enthusiastic, considering the number of times it has been tried and failed ;p

LoL.. nice reference to the sheep shagging Mani.

Good luck with the team... you're gonna need it. If past experience with team Aus is anything to go by you will need dedicated players with a THURST for bw. That's how players like Bren, Lastscv (tung) and du5t made it into the team, developed and then owned.

I remember Bren used to smack Testie around during the time that Testie was on the fringe of becoming one of the best foreign players.

But ye... you're totalluy right... you don't need ppl who are "skilled". You just need people with dedication and will to play bw and get better.
I really wanted a bigger opponent, like Nate Marquardt, or King Neptune, or Zeus, or Zeus and Fedor, or Fedor on Zeus's shoulders, and they can both punch but only Zeus can kick.

I've been inactive because of exams, and essentially I can't be much more active than maybe a couple games every weekend after my exams (which will be over in about 2 weeks time). If you set up nation wars or just matches then I could probably make it to most of them if they were on the weekends. I suspect that now I am extremely noob having not played in a long time. It would be nice if we managed to get a group of active players together to play some matches, and I would certainly participate in that. I think if we organise ourselves and make sure all our players are informed etc by using the teamaus forums then we could sustain a large enough number of active players. I think the main problem with the past attempts is that the group of NZ players aren't in touch enough, so theres not enough communication and the group just falls apart and we go our separate ways. I read TL everyday, but just less than before and I don't post, so yeah.

Well NZ ... visit wgtour.com , there are several requirements for starting up a national team (minimum # of members, proof of citizenship... etc) , but it's not too difficult.

Also, as long as you will be actively playing nation wars and such, there should be no problem at all... it's always nice to see new nations organizing and little bw communities growing. It's stuff like this that keeps this game alive and kicking.

I played this Fonger guy today on West, he gave me a nice game. If there are a couple more players around his skill level they could be a competitive nation.

Goodluck, i doubt there will be any exceptional circumstances (which we had) which would propel interest

we simply do not have the skill base/player base

Player base is a concern; skill base is not.
To find a dedicated group of full-time nz gamers is bloody hard,
skill base is also a concern; i doubt there a (m)any B-teams we could beat

So because a korean lives in NZ, with NZ citizenship it makes them not-applicable for the team? Goodlove, rookie, beautifulgame are 3 koreans with decentish skill and im sure there are more...
the latter two being semi-active at times
In observing the last team, there were real commitment issues.
eRaS did not particpate
Goodlove did not participate
eun_ji did not participate
Lang was unrealiable, he showed up and was a force but never showed for games
GAG is a one trick pony
Rookie was a one trick pony
Sky was a one trick pony (didnt see his tvt though)
R_I's forte was tvp, but tvz/tvt were decent
fortissimo moved to italy
beaut has commitment issues because he plays at work (internet cafe)
Nexies was almost impossible to track down
80% of the people in NZL-1 are ums
5% BGH
10% FPM
5% Low-moeny

We'll see.
Your also asking at a particularly bad time; semester 1 is drawing to a close rapidly and hence mass exams are on, also many highschools have midyears etc
didcated players around this time are scarce at best

I suggest if you are really serious about this that you assemble 5 reliable players (lol goodluck) and get some games going; in ASEAN we won 1 set (thanks RI!!), dont over estimate our skills, we are very much a weak nation. Goodluck regardless

Hey Plexa way to be a total cock to a guy wanting to try again. Perhaps the reason NZ has a tough time is that attitude?
