Aw, seeing SK leaving kinda breaks my heart but glad he looks happy. Did Stork go to military yet? He's oldest competing pros around. Also JD didn't yet too. So why younger players like SK leaving now, can't they go later just like others?

Like Rain, Stork also doesn't need to do his military service, I believe due to a sleep issue of some sort.

If memory serves Rain, Stork, & Larva all are medically exempt from mandatory military service..

There is a certain timeframe koreans need to enlist... but they can decline certain dates if there is a specific reason; f.e many soccer pros in korea make use of it but they need to provide results; living in other areas of the world etc... for Stork, there are specific reasons why he does not need to enlist...

Don't know why stork is exempt, but rain is because he had surgery to transplant a lobe of his liver to his dad and larva is a cancer survivor.

no stork has been diagnosed with depression, making him ineligible for active duty but eligible for public service. his poor mental state puts him on low priority for enlistment however, and seeing as how hes over 30 now it put his enlistment priority even lower. hes been granted exemption on the basis that the likelihood of him being called up is extremely low

What is the UMS Python map that pros sometimes play? It looks fun but I can't understand what's happening.

Afreeca are hosting a tournament for, uh, workers? Well, if you're employed in Korea go find teammates and sign up. The top4 will be played out at the FreecUP studio on the 10th of November.

Basically...

Match 1 players comes in at 2 pm to check settings
Games start at 3 pm
Match 2 players must arrive by 4 pm to check settings (stork is one of the two)

Since match 2 people arrive later, they don't have time to sit on stage to check anything.

Pros use 24 inch monitors at home, on stage, etc. for all the KSLs up until now.
As soon as he sat down for his match, he noticed that it was a 27 inch monitor, so he complained and requested a change.
The people in charge contacted a Blizzard rep, but he was in LA at the time for Blizzcon, so he couldn't respond.
The people in charge didn't know what to do, so they just made up a rule that since the first match used 27 inch monitors, those in the second match had to use them too.

Stork is sensitive to the settings, so he complained, but admits he lost due to his skill in the end. The point is that players are supposed to make complaints and requests for changes before matches start, which he did.

He was told that all players must use 27 inch monitors until the finals.
However, he was later told that players would use 24 inch monitors from now on.

Something like that.

well its a bit more than just the above;
the main reason stork is pissed is because players in esports have historically been in a position of weakness compared to tournament organisers and therefore they often get "unfavourable" treatment. only after streaming became mainstream did players find a voice, largely due to their large audience followings.

in direct relation to ksl, the main issue is that stork had to play on a 27 inch monitor. this would have been fine if the players knew about this beforehand and were given adequate time to adjust settings, but the ksl tournament format is so that the 2nd round players arent given much time in their booths before the game starts (as above). the other main issue is that the players are given a "setup room" on a different floor from the main stage, so that players can practice their setup first without having to be at the main booth. in the setup room however, the monitors are 24 inch. so stork basically arrives on time, gets shepherded to the setup room and he sets everything up with a 24 inch monitor, only to be blindsided when he actually gets in the booth and realises the main monitor is 27inches. for stork personally, this was a big deal because he plays on full screen (wide) settings, so when he first loaded up sc his nexus and probes were huge and he couldnt even split probes properly.

the players werent given any information about this on the day and the tournament rules given to players prior to the tournament has no specifications for hardware setups.
further problems stem from onsite staff being completely clueless about the tournament proceedings. it took them up to 10mins to fix his sound problem which is why he didnt even notice the monitor problem until it was too late. the person in charge of the tournament (blizz employee) was at LA for blizzcon so couldnt be reached either. in the end stork was told that monitors couldnt be switched out because round 1 had already been played on 27 inch monitors and the tournament had to be "consistent", and for the rest of the tournament they would continue to use 27 inch monitors. this information was given to him by spoTV representatives, claiming the information to be directions given by blizzard.

after stork is eliminated he continues to contact tournament organisers in regards to this issue and he finds out that the blizzard representative was asleep when the issue went live in korea, because it was roughly 1am in LA. the blizz representative got back to stork the morning after. so basically stork finds out that spoTV made some rule up on the spot whilst claiming they had directives from blizzard, essentially because they just couldnt be fucked catering to the players preferences and running the tournament professionally.
whats more annoying for stork, although it was the result he eventually wanted for the sake of his colleagues, was that the tournament organisers fully backtracked everything they said about "consistency" and the tournament is currently running with 24inch monitors for the sake of maximising players' experience and performance.

tl;dr stork is ranting about how the tournament was run like shit, he was lied to and staff were clueless (another example is after storks loss, he packed all his equipment on staff instructions and moved upstairs to the setup room, only to realise as he saw mind walking down, that the losers bracket was immediately next and therefore he had no reason to leave his booth. when confronting staff about why they made him pack up his shit when he was just gonna have to come back straight away, they literally ignored him). he felt like he needed to be the one to speak up for the players and put it on record that in these scenarios almost always the players are the ones who are affected negatively and he would appreciate if tournament organisers took some responsibility for their incompetencies.

Such things happen when in an organization the main drivers are surrounded by servants without their own opinion, hence such people are unable to make decisions even when the course of action is obvious.

Such employees are good for nothing else than to do the needful.

It's a common organizational pitfall. Especially when you need to have someone qualified to do a given task but you don't want to pay for the qualification... which I imagine could be a problem in esports.

Damn that's some fucking bullshit. Glad Stork spoke up about it, hopefully no one else will have to put up with shit like that again in the KSL.

Yeah, it's good he spoke up. There's no excuses for these sort of things and behaviour from KSL.
