Get out there and compete! Sure but they've been getting out there and competing their whole life, at some point they probably just wanna be able to relax. Part of it is also, at least for JD and Larva, that their primary source of income is streaming, not competing. Brood War has gotten to the point that for players streaming on Afreeca is their full-time occupation and competing is a side job. If these players don't necessarily NEED the income from competing in the ASL they may feel less inclined to do so. If players stop competing in tournaments, then overall StarCraft viewership will decline even more, including their personal streams. It's a bit short sighted.

This! I can see now, your plans for Korea were far more advanced than I initially thought.

If JD get UK citizenship without implement of military service, then he cant comeback korea.

He can drop his Korean citizenship and comeback as a "foreigner" with a visa.

recently, President of south korea decided to reduce military service.
So, the period of military service is 18 months now.

From what I have heard, this will not affect those who have already started their service.

Holy shit... so people just started 6 months early for no reason

So if Flash started his military now, he'd finish it sooner than Bisu? Hero must really wish he'd started it just a little bit later. LOL That feelsbadman

im pretty sure the 18 month service only applies to men who start after nov. 2020. hero will be done before the new laws are even implemented. flash and jd might reconsider though haha, although i know jd was planning to go next year

You know who makes out like a bandit for putting off his service for so long?
Stork.

Didn't Scan just go to army like 3 weeks ago ; o

If scan is doing his military service it's the first I heard of it. Good luck and hopefully there's still a BW scene when you get back.

Otherwise I can only imagine what the environment in the barracks would be like when people start leaving sooner than their compatriots.

Can any korean give update on Pusan's situation? Has he quit BW?

If it only begins to apply in Nov 2020 doesn't that mean that anyone who entered before Nov 2018 will leave first?

What about for the people that are REQUIRED to apply before Nov 2020? That must suck.

That must suck. Yes, but apparently there are ways to delay it if you want (a la every progamer so far). I wonder if they correct for that as well - the people between now and 2020 can't extend? That would be an interesting question/social phenomenon to explore statistically.

Is there some sort of appeals process dealt in a case by case basis to delay military service, or can you keep delaying it until an absolute deadline in which it is impossible to delay after that? I’m not well-versed on this but I always imagined it to be the latter, unless it is something completely different.
