Jaedong could be retiring, and going to the military. There’s been some buzz around that for quite a while now... he said that he would be going into the military at some point this year. Effort could be in the same boat, as he has not completed military service. | ||

But also sounds a bit lazy to be honest. I mean yeah, it's going to be stressful but that's the path they decided to take. It's their job basically. But I guess it's stressful because of the "fan base" bashing them every time they lose. I really loath that mentality. I would rather see my boy competing than bashing them so much that they are better of not competing - both nerve-wise and money-wise. It's ridiculous. | ||

Looks like Cadenzie is taking one for the team. #BRINGJAEDONGHOME seriously though, a ton of good Zerg talent will be missing. Hero was a top of the line Zerg, so was Larva. the only Zergs left are basically Soulkey. You have lower-tier Zergs that have potential though like Action is coming on the rise, MIsO has been doing pretty well. Calm has made some splash, Shine is still in there, Soma looks interesting as an up and comer. But yeah, Zerg line just got gutted for ASL6, only 4 Zergs I see making it, with maybe 2 more that could potentially make it. In a Ro24 format, only 6 Zergs is 25%, and that's their max potential. Only 3 will probably make it meaning only 1/8th of the tournament is Zerg. It would be a very long ASL with a ton of TvT, PvT, and PvP (unless the PvP matches are all rushes). Hope JD does in fact reverse his decision though, we definitely need all the Zergs we can get right now. | ||

Part of it is also, at least for JD and Larva, that their primary source of income is streaming, not competing. Brood War has gotten to the point that for players streaming on Afreeca is their full-time occupation and competing is a side job. If these players don't necessarily NEED the income from competing in the ASL they may feel less inclined to do so. | ||
