Elo works by individual game results, NOT series. This is because winning 2-0 is better than winning 2-1. on the other hand u play differently when it's BO3 and when it's BO1, so i wouldn't be so fast with looking down at the current system. @iop , @Bonyth - this is how elo systems works always, everywhere, no way it will be changed whenever. i think you forgot some results because i went down in the ranking after "haveatyou" tournament while i should climb in the ranking. Would be nice to see a big/prestigious site like TL.net implement some sort of foreign BW ranking if someone like Zulu (with help from others maybe) is willing to update it. That could help out the foreign scene and serve as extra motivation for people to practice, BW players in general are extremely competitive. | ||

I think it is possible to do it in future but the "to do list" is already very long so i am not expecting to make it soon, but who knows, this idea seems very nice. | ||

@spx, It is almost impossible to distinguish which match was wo and which one was played, becouse admins of most tournaments dont have tools to indicate it or just are to lazy, probably this 1st. From my perspective i cant blind shooting, becouse it might be hurtful for somebody. @DragOn, u are as a random becouse there is 5 race options, PTZR and unknown. Thanks for info about players! | ||

I actually feel that if you look at this list and don't just look at the ELO, but also on amount of games played, win rate, and region played in, it ends up being a pretty damn solid indicator. That said, even if you don't, Bonyth, Dewalt, TT, Eon, Dandy as top 5? I'm on board with that. The next 10 being Terror Gorynich Gargoyle Sziky Ty2 Naugrim Koget Dragon Mana Michael? I'd prolly swap 2-3 of those for 2-3 of the next ones (Ret, Kenzy and Marwin), but it really is fairly accurate. Obviously doesn't accurately reflect the skill of players who have hardly played any tournaments, but for the ones who register for ~2 every week, it really does. It doesn't really have much meaning when you look outside the top 25 because there some players with much fewer games end up being represented just through having one good recent tournament run, but for the top 25, I really feel it is quite accurate. And for the record I think out of the top 50, I'm prolly one of the most wrongly rated players. I dunno if I think I'm better than anyone above me (certainly none of the europeans), and there are lots of players below that I would consider a significant favorite against me if I were to play them. | ||

About BWCL - yeah im very sad i didnt include it, but i didnt know that now results are on iccup site (my bad - blind old eyes), deffinitly will include it in future if there will be next seasons, playoffs, anythin. Im very happy now BWCL have place when u can clearly check results. STPL - Liquipdia page wasnt updated since week5 of round1 as i remember. So i decided to not add it if i am unable to add all games. Can anyone cofirm, cuz i am not sure, Zarrr is Favorit right? | ||

Poegim, I really encourage you to decouple the data from the elo ranking. That way you can also graph elo over time. Have a table with just the player/score/date, and let your algorithm crawl over this table from the beginning of time to now, creating a new table with date/player/elo. I really like your initiative. | ||

But I may only guess it can take at least half of the year to see the results, after I get green light from community and can start working on it. List contains all games from STPL for which matches were casted up to yesterday. There were several duplicate user names. Those I can remember: - Marine from pSi and Marine from vT (first is 'Marine', 2nd 'Marine_vT' - Jaewon from Nas and Jaewon from WHITE (both having NaS / WHITE after nickname) - Best from Red and BeSt progamer (first is Best, second BeStKOREA) - Mind from dM (?) and Mind progamer (same as for Best, but only MindKOREA played) - Beast from NaS and Korea (resolution same as previously, but only beast from NaS played) | ||

So yeah, sorry for your situation TT1, but your team could replace you with anybody just as you were seeing troubles with rescheduling game, and than he would be on games list as winner/losser depends on how game did go. That would also benefit everybody watching STPL, since there would be more game to be casted and seeing walkovers is always bad feeling. dM-White - yeah, the point is there are two players with nickname Mind - one from your team and another one progamer (he played at least once in WHITE vs SouL in Round 1, if I remember correctly). | ||

It says i have 2 wins vs g0rynich but it's actually 1 win and 1 loss. Like i mentioned i never played vs Marine and you added a bunch of my games where i offraced for fun (vs Labuela // vs Dewalt). Is the goal here to have an accurate ranking or are we just gonna add every single match without double checking anything? I'm checking the other pages and there's a ton of mistakes in those too.. Also, adding a ranking page for CPL would be really cool, imo. | ||

This is still amateur community so no one should expect too much. There is no way to do it perfect as long as it is not a professional thing. People smurfs, plays on different accounts, changing names, gets wo, et cetera. @ Demurity, You need to have 10 games to be visible, but as i see now You = Chego, so i will merge this accs, mb there is some games on Demurity nickname (probably yes becouse Demurity nickname exist in base). ill make some fixes in gamelist in few days if ppl will report (like TT1 vs notforu). | ||

Due to no possiblity to check whether each loss was forfeit or not all games reported by organizers as loss are just loss is ranking. Or maybe just PROs? But then Scan and ajuk wasnt pro anyway i belive. Should be Cross allowed? Is he realy Canadian or just Korean? Is Jayun more Korean or more American, who would judge? There is many problems with that. Its more on tounament organizers hands from my perspective. | ||

In my eyes it was always clear that regional competition is the preferred format. And for a ranking like this, it would make most sense for korean players to not be included. (Though that makes it weird if tournament organisers do actually include them, like you said.) | ||

I think the goal of the tool is to create the most realistic ranking of foreign players, based on their actual results/skill. If you allow players to report walkover so they can be removed they only thing you get is better database. The example of "intentional" vo to get a better place still doesnt matter, as what you try to measure is ELO performance based on matches played against each other. Otherwise you consciously corrupt your data without getting any additional benefit from this. Same for your betting part - the odds should be based on real matches, not walkovers. | ||

Perhaps if you had a seperate Global Ranking where it had both the Koreans and Foreigners who play in foreign tournaments and just a foreign one where you remove all koreans? That way you get the best of both worlds. | ||
