CPL Ranking Tour link is here. All players are REQUIRED to sign up and play. This is an evaluation tour and critical to help ensure a level of parity between the initial starting skill levels of teams. If you have extenuating circumstances and will absolutely not be able to play, then please send me a PM or message me on Skype/Discord to explain your situation.

This is fantastic, thanks for doing this. It is a huge time investment for everyone though, and I wonder how many people actually understand that. I'm really hoping you don't get 90% going afk4lyf before the event ends, best of luck!

AllofmySadface I would not be B+, that's for sure, but I mean I do not have a competitive understanding of the intricacies of play that spectators often miss. My only "competitive experience" would be participating as the Zerg player for my High School's Starleague about 3 years ago, not that this is saying much. I would not be able to catch details that would be obvious to a veteran and I would not be able to explain what is going into the micro, but I could talk about broad concepts such as strategy that I have picked up from my time watching Broodwar. However, this might be obsolete since the broodwar I watched was a different level and it might be a case of apples and oranges. Nevertheless, a newb casting newbs might be an interesting dynamic... I didn't mean to sound like a know-it-all or something, my bad. L_Master was asking for comments as well as a registration snippet so I posted.

It's a time investment, yes. A huge one though? Not sure I'd call it that. Looks like 25 ladder games as leading the poll. That's maybe 8 hours of playing over 8 weeks. One hour per week. Then also making one practice session for an hour or two once a week. Once the league starts it's just about showing up for a 10-45 min single game of starcraft. Much less than what I've done for a typical club on campus. I'd say taken at its minimum the time investment of CPL for a player is modest. It's probably a moderate investment for most coaches though.

However, if you don't think you have to Internet to play, there is no chance of you being able to cast the games. I'd encourage you to sign up as a player, I strongly suspect we can work around an Internet issue.

I don't think your enthusiasm is misguided, it's always a great thing to see people who are hype about the game I love. I just think that in a league focused on improvement, more experienced players as casters would be more appropriate. Players would be able to hear what they did wrong in more specific terms from reputable players. I'd suggest reaching out to the following noobleague organizer and L_Master in these threads for a more fitting venue: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/bw-tournaments/515888-d-d-tournament-small-ds-starcraft-league-v http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/brood-war/515174-the-return-of-lmaster-low-mid-level-casting-fun Of course I'm not an organizer here or in those other threads so I can't say any of this with authority. I'm saying this because when I was learning the game from fellow noobs I picked up a lot of bad habits, disinformation, etc. Basically it hurt more than it helped. Another suggestion would be to do some example casts first? Start a stream, get it authorized by TL, in the thread you can ask for replays. Wish you the best of luck, would definitely be interesting to see a theatre major casting haha.

I will have to crunch some games in the next few nights to have a profile to provide for entering into both DRIT and this, if I get to the minimum count of games then I'll register as a player before the 20th. Thanks for your understanding

Thanks for your understanding Yes, it's almost always an independent person who does casting + obsing. Sometimes a co commentator join from Skype or such program but that is less common. Coordinating fancier stuff like a dedicated observer online tends to be a ton of extra work. You can sign up now, and then if you don't get in 10+ games we can discuss it at that point

All of those dates are during the training portion of the league, and it's not like you're missing weeks at a time so it certainly will not be any issue. Main thing you'd want is availability on Sundays at 15:00 (EST) from around mid January to mid March as those will be the match dates. There will be some flexibility for rescheduling though if circumstances come up. Other thing you'd want to enough availability and time to be able to commit to a few hours of BW each week practicing with teammates and coaches.
