What do we have to do in the mean time? Play StarCraft 2?
Play BW on ICCUP with ddraw fix and mcalauncher. EZ PZ.
when Blizzard really comes through with the patch, you'll be able to play on ICCup with no graphic glitches and no Port forwarding issues as well. gonna be pretty sweet :>

well, there is a couple of IF's. IF Blizzard finishes their annouced patch for BW (they announced to clear all graphic issues on modern OS and port forwarding) and IF we ( the ICCup BW section) get the okay from the dev's to apply the new patch to the server, you would be able to play on ICCup without any problems you had in the past.
as for your question: well SB is not operational yet, so having the alternative on icc might be valuable for the meantime.

well, i see it the same way, but the positive reaction to the SB announcement tells us, many people feel different (;

hmm. I don't understand the thing.
For example, what if i play BW in x2 windowed mode + #ll latency. What are advantages of using your app compare to my example?

Better yet, GTR recorded a quick demo of him using the interface

My interpretation is that the major advantage for you would be a matchmaking system.
My interpretation in general is that many people who could not play with the settings you use or at all will now be able to.

My YouTube channel will probably become active again as well with FPVods of mine. I don't know if I'll get back into casting.... I assume much has changed in terms of strategies since I used to cast consistently back in 2008-2009?
Nah, tanks own everything. Build tanks. If you are protoss or zerg, reroll as Terran first. That sums it up.

the contrary is true. Automated matchmaking needs more players to work proper then traditional hosting+ladder (what iccup does) In order for the matchmaking to make a "good match" for you, you need a big playerbase. Obv. the hope here is, that Shield Battery will be able to attract a lot of new players as well as "inheriting" the existing ICCup player base. Attracting the korean scene would also be valuable. We'll see how well that works.

Blizzard never announced what was going to change with the next BW patch, they just said they were working on it. What's safe to assume is that the next patch will provide compatibility for newer operating systems since that's what the first patches for WC3 and D2 this year were for.

okay thx. but wouldn't it make sense to assume they address port forwarding too? It's such a common hurdle and their intention seems to be to make BW playable again in a "modern fashion". It sounded like a safe bet to me.

At least not in the next patch. They seem to be more focused on D2 right now, with SC on the lowest priority, so the bare minimum to get SC working would make the most sense to assume.

That is because the majority are too lazy to bother searching or use those fixes. I tried to spread the news about the ddraw fix on ICCUP but everyone there was lazy as fuck to go and check it.
I have windows 10 and I have absolutely no issues running BW.
Hopefully this project will solve this issue for those lazy people. However, I have to say that later when we reach the open beta, we really need to work on advertising this. I tried to spread the news on ICCUP again, but no one bothered to go and check.
That DDRaw fix doesn't work for me on mcalauncher on win10, and I stream on AfreecaTV now, so it'd be hard to let everyone know except for spamming threads =(

Maybe I can help you with getting it working on your PC. What version of mcaluncher are you using? Also are you using the latest ddraw fix? Finally, what settings do you have enabled on the mcalauncher?

But does it work when you're not using mca64Launcher? If it does, then something in mca64Launcher should be disabled.
This might actually make me stop play SC2 and go play BW only again. Matchmaking is crazily convenient, and finding opponents on ICCup can be a hassle.
