So you'll find someone to play with no matter what rank you are, although you might be playing the same people over and over. People are friendly and very willing to teach and give feedback. It also helps that TecPac are wizards.

I have restarted my computer and reinstalled ShieldBattery. Strangely enough, it worked before but I can't get it working now. I can log into ShieldBattery on the web client.

I've seen this bug occasionally (and we plan to fix it, but haven't yet). Generally refreshing the client should work (ctrl+r or F5). If that doesn't help, I'd try closing the client, deleting the ShieldBattery data folder (you can hit window+r, type %AppData%\ShieldBattery, and hit enter to get there), and relaunching it. I'll prioritize fixing this issue for our next release, sorry about that!

I refreshed the client and didn't have a data folder to delete for my ShieldBattery file path but they don't seem to be helping. I'll keep testing to see if I can find a workaround. In the mean time, thanks for your support! I really appreciate the work you do. Curious, any idea when your next release is slated for?

Just to make sure, when I say "data folder" I just meant you can delete the entirety of %AppData%\ShieldBattery (or just everything in there, shouldn't make much of a difference), not specifically a folder called "data" ![]() No definite date for the next release yet, soon! And if the above still doesn't help, let me know and I can try to clear your sessions on the server to see if that helps.

Thanks a bunch! | ||

If your question is more generic about having 2 versions, here's a longer answer: + Show Spoiler + To have both versions you need to backup/copy the entire 1.16 folder somewhere else before upgrading to 1.18. So you have 2 options, either uninstall 1.18 and re-install 1.16, then copy the folder somewhere else, and install 1.18 again after you've copied it.... or find a non-official (*COUGH* ... iccup ... *COUGH*) copy of 1.16 online somewhere ![]() You can't have an official copy of both installed at once.

StarCraft has went from a shoddy 1.18 release with so many bugs it was barely unplayable to the working state it is in now. Blizzard has done a lot of things right, and they do actively listen to player feedback. However, I feel the biggest disadvantage of playing on Blizzard over Shieldbattery (assuming Shieldbattery continues and releases matchmaking/ladder features) is that Blizz seems to need their hand held all the way to know what the players want. I am positive Shieldbattery is way more in touch with the Brood War scene - and that, to me, is extremely important. I never really imagined Blizzard would release a map pool that included Arcadia II and Nostalgia, but here we are. I trust Blizzard's ability to make SC:R a success and a delight to play, but I don't trust their judgment. It is really too early to say anything else though, but I just feel like (and this is not to anyone specific, but in general) people should not count Shieldbattery out.
