Created in 2013, Sbenu has been experiencing growth across all demographics.
Managing Director Richard Arnold said, "We have high hopes for the United-themed footwear being produced by Sbenu, which is a popular brand in Korea. Sbenu has over 100 storefronts and can appeal to more than 15 million Korean fans."
Sbenu CEO Sonic said, "Sbenu was able to become a well-known brand thanks to continuous innovation in both product development and marketing. I hope that the joint marketing initiative with Manchester United, one of the best football clubs in the world, will help Sbenu become the footwear brand that represents Korea."
Sonic's Post
I get the feeling the new Proleague will be accompanied by an advertising campaign related to the new partnership. It feels like Sonic is expanding his business for the sole purpose of funding BW...
EDIT: I see that this was already mentioned in the Afreeca thread. Nevertheless, I suppose that it's useful to have the full article here. I'm really excited to find out what this means for Proleague.

Sonic is going to buy and own Blizzard soon and tell 'em like a boss: "Fire DK, DB, let Chris Metzen to design and TheMarine with Kim Carrier to balance stuff, halt all WoW, Diablo, forget about SC2 expansions and updates and cancel other minor projects like Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, Overwatch for next 10 years and work your asses on main thing - start ASAP developing HD ver. of BW !".

Dang, Sonic is absurdly successful. I actually do wonder how much his Broodwar sponsorship has to do with it.

That'll be super sweet. Or Sonic can just develop a HD version himself.
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/3HGVG4U.png) Imagine the lols if SC1 in the form of HDBW takes away DB's job the second time, in a few years after he announced victory and his love for SC2 for defeating SC1

From my limited perception, it was probably one of the main starting points. He really got a lot of the viewers to buy the shoes, post pictures of them on facebook etc. when he started his business. Buying the shoes was like a way of stating you're a fan willing to donate to the scene, to save the game.. (which was much more emotional at that point). Whether or not he could do the same thing without the BW community is up for speculations but obviously he's a clever businessman (he had plenty of mutual partnerships and clever marketing strategies in place) so it would probably just take him a bit more time.
When he went on a loan to pay for the SSL and it eventually payed off, that turned it into a success story that got him even more popular (there's a drama based on his story) but ever since then he just started putting heavy investments into marketing and expanding his business. These included other esports but also dramas and show events and now this. At this point, the Brood War audience probably isn't that important and he could easily move on from it and 'save himself the trouble'. But I think the ~1 year break when he focused on business recharged him and he had a fun project in mind (the coaching show) and we all know there's no stopping Sonic.

But yea, maybe this means that Sbenu is planning on expanding internationally soon?
I wanted to buy shoes to support Sonic for all he's done. But I'm size 13 US. And i'm pretty sure that's clown shoe status in Korea so I don't know if they'd ever make em that size.

Sonic is beyond amazing :o

Would buy SBENU for casual shoes if it ever gets to my country. Just as a thank you to Sonic's work, and one of the few times I honestly have been swayed by sponsorship work.
