Could you introduce yourself to us?

Sen: Hi, I'm Sen from Taiwan. I'm 27 years old and a SC2 Progamer.

I'd like to talk to you about the Starcraft Brood War tournament, but obviously we can't ignore the massive performance you've just put down in the Starcraft II Taiwan Open. Can you talk us through the tournament?

Sen: It's exciting to play SC1 again. I haven't played SC1 since the SC2 release. As for my tournament win at the Taiwan Open.. It's made me really happy. I really didn't expect I could win it. Maybe its because the tournament is in Taiwan, so a lot of ppl cheered for me. Everytime I got an advantage I could clearly hear screams from the audience.

When did you know you won the tournament?

Sen: When it was 3-3 during my game vs HyuN and his aggresive baneling zergling attack failed, I knew I won.

How did you feel when he typed gg and you heard the audience chant your name?

Sen: Truly amazing, it's in Taiwan and lots of the best Koreans were invited and I won it.

It's wonderful and I'm really happy for you. The Taiwanese players showed a very strong performance this tournament. Do you think it was mostly luck or has the skill level in Taiwan grown this much?

Sen: I think the Taiwan players improved a lot, but it's still very hard to win against the best Korean pros so some luck was involved.

Okay, let's move on to Brood War. When did you start playing and what caused you to start?

Sen: I started in 2000 when I saw my older brother playing Starcraft. I watch him and thought "This game is fun!" Then I started playing 2v2 and some UMSes with him, both in WC3 and SC1. They were fun! In 2003 I joined the WCG Taiwan qualifier tournament. That was my first time playing an offline tournament.

Why did you choose Zerg?

Sen: I played Protoss first but PvZ was really hard so I started playing Zerg. I switched before playing the WCG qualifier tournament. I played all races for fun at the beginning, just like any other game. I only really started practicing Zerg for the tournament as you could only pick one race.

Okay, tell me about your first offline tournament experience. What was it like?

Sen: I made it to the Round of 8 then I lost to a Protoss player on an island map. Island maps were very imbalanced against Zerg at that time. It was a bad experience for my first tournament in WCG.

Did you not enjoy it?

Sen: It was fun, sure, but I lost.

So would you say you have a winner's mentality? Do you only enjoy the game if you win?

Sen: It's okay, I think everyone prefers winning over losing. Don't you? Fucking Artanis. What do you feel when you lose all your money on poker?

That hits too close to home.

Sen: Hahaha

Anyway, what I mean is: is a tournament only fun for you if you win?

Sen: Of course not, it's always fun. But when you win it's more fun! At the WCG Tournament in Taiwan, all the friends met once every year. It's really fun to see everyone. In the past it was only one tournament a year so it was special. It's like: All of us are friends but we only know each other online, but the WCG Qualifiers made us meet.

Sounds awesome. What's been your best offline tournament experience in BW?

Sen: I played in WCG Singapore 2005. I lost to fOrU, he was the champion that year. I almost beat him, I had an advantage. It was 1-1, last game, but I lost. Looks like it's not the best experience because I lost!
I think it's WCG 2004, first time I went abroad and I made it far into the top 8. Nobody knew me and think I'm easy to beat, but I beat many famous players. It was a good experience.

How was the rest of the experience like other than the games?

Sen: It was the first time I was in America. My English was so poor at the time. I started to learn English so much when I finished my journey in WCG 2004. I didn't know anyone there at the time, I didn't have any international friends.

Did that make it easier to prepare? No distractions?

Sen: Harder, I had nobody to share strategy with.

So now looking forward to the tournament, who do you most want to beat?

Sen: I just want to have fun in this tournament, nobody I want to beat mostly.

A lot of players think that this is their chance now to beat the legendary Sen though. What do you have to say to them?

Sen: Hahaha, ok I'll practice more time.

Now the serious questions. You get to go on a sailing trip with any player, which players do you take along?

Sen: Fenix Mondragon or TT1 I think. Mondragon was my teammate long ago in ToT, TT1 I met before and played for Fnatic at the same time, and Fenix is just a good guy and was a fnatic teammate too.

Ok. What's your favourite food?

Sen: Sushi and Sashim.

Do you like pets?

Sen: I like dogs.

Sen: LOL, eating dog in Taiwan is illegal.
