On the 15th of April, Terror was temp banned from Afreeca for child abuse. He had an eating competition with two middle school students who said they quit school to pursue a career as an Afreeca BJ (Broadcasting Jockey). As punishment for losing, Terror poured 4.5 liters of soy sauce on the two kids and as a result received a temporary ban from Afreeca.
Hello Everyone it’s BJ Chulgu. I heard it was a week but instead I got a permanent ban... When I was unbanned after my first permaban I was really happy but being permabanned again makes me feel real lonely.... To the viewers who watched my stream, thank you. Saying I “fabricated” things and calling me things like “fabricating” [T/N: the word here was 주작 and the meaning of his word has been twisted and screwed around with so much I just chose the most appropriate in this context] Chulgu... There was one I fabricated besides the taxi driver one, the haunted house one. There were some people I paid to be featured on stream, I really wanted to make the stream fun so I fabricated somethings so please don’t be so hard on me about it T_T of course I can’t do these things anymore Also lots of people are saying “child abuse” but Those who watched my stream from the start probably know there was no child abuse. The middle school kids came to me everyday and bothered me to feature them on stream And we had agreed the loser of the spicy noodle speed eating competition would be doused in soy sauce, it was never abuse. Of course it is my fault for doing this kind of stream with middle schoolers.. But it was not abuse... And the crying at the end we had planned before I turned on the stream while discussing how to end the final scene and we decided if they were to lose they would pretend to cry and crawl out the window saying “I’m going to tell my mom.” We thought it would be fun that way.
We had planned that. After I turned off the stream I let them wash up in the bathroom, gave them my clothes to wear and drove them home. There was no abuse.. I can’t stream anymore but please don’t remember me as a bad guy. Dcinsiders and anti-fans, I really tried hard to make my stream fun to watch. Lastly, I apologize to the Afreeca admins for giving them a hard time. Anyways, Thank you so much and viewers have a nice day.
Well, seeing that those kids wanted to be afreeca BJs, the additional publicity from being on Terror's stream will only help them. Soy sauce does no physical damage, and since they consented to and enjoyed it, there's no psychological damage done too. I just can't see how this constitutes child abuse.

its not really child abuse but i translated it the way it was presented. korean media is very propaganda against games and stuff so they usually like to skew it in the negative direction.
there's alot of terror fans defending him in the comments/replies and they actually gave some pretty decent points. usually they are just completely like 200% irrational

This. Terror is one of the last persons one should look up to. Even if one is an aspiring Afreeca BJ. Even Larva shoving coins up his nostrils isn't as bad as Terror.
Also they're belittling child abuse by comparing this to it. I'm assuming the kids agreed to it; just some good old fun. I'd be surprised if anyone here said they haven't done some childish things like this before.
Real child abuse is dispicable. This is just some kids getting picked on a little at worst.
Well I can see why it would be considered child abuse. Disrespectful behaviour towards a person, regardless if its with their consent or not can lead to bad results. Not necessarily of course, but this sort of a thing shouldnt be tolerated for because similar cases would rise where the situation isn't as obvious.
First I was angry when I started to read, once I finished reading the whole text I was confused. Now I'll just settle with a very neutral "LOL WTF". Where did he even get all that Soy from? No sense it makes.
Ok so I asked the guys about this story, apparently it even ended up on the Korean news on TV. The child abuse is not from the soy sauce, it's because the "Eating competition" involved eating 5 spicy cup noodles, which are apparently so spicy, they would make you "see stars". Really really hot. Still not exactly "child abuse" but it's a little different to what the OP is saying.

they mentioned like nothing of the spicy cup noodles in the fomos post but that makes more sense in a way

Sure does with all empty containers in all of the pics in the OP.

This dude looks pretty unstable. I'm not sure if he's a good company for a kid and the role model... lol. Anyway, this ban won't help anyone and probably make it even worse. I hope he only pretended to be insane.
fucking this could only happen with terror (ninja edit: the whole situation, from randomly having eating contest with middle schoolers to getting banned to dumping soy sauce)
should have let my imagination run wild for a few days before clicking sidebar link
I was told that terror did this eating competition thing to tell them making money like himself is very hard thing to do and to convince those kids to go back to school

Physically manifesting years of e-sports pain and suffering w/ 4.5 liters of soy sauce. Like Spetsnaz that have to crawl in blood. I get it.
Jeez. If he didn't have the look of a maniac on his face after he did it I wouldn't think so badly of it. He obviously derives a ton of pleasure from it.
Does anyone have more background info on the guy that points to whether he is actually batshit insane or just playing a character for the stream?
It blows my mind that this kind of thing can be so lucrative. I can kind of see the novelty value of it but people really keep watching this guy and sending him money over such a long period of time? It's like Dragon taken to the extreme, and I don't get the appeal of him either.
I see the gif first before reading. Gotta say it seems pretty horrible for the kids, especially if someone older looks at that. Guess the uneducated afreeca streamers thingy would just get stirred up again

Meh. Terror was a somewhat funny for a while when it was all new.
Unfortunately, he just overdoes stuff in a way that's super tryhard and uninteresting. Not to mention after several years it totally unoriginal. He screams a ton and pours random shit on himself or others. I'm pretty surprised if he still gets viewers for those kinds of things.

Probably. He got kicked out of his last apartment for damaging the walls with soy sauce stains or something.
Why should he be perma-banned SNM? He is one of my favorite streamers on Afreeca and he really hasn't been THAT extreme lately, until this. Clearly he isn't for everyone, but it is just a show. A saw someone give him like 13,000 balloons last month.
I wonder if he will be allowed to play in the next SSL.
Glad it wasnt something more sinister. If the kids agreed to it (which im pretty sure they would have having gone ot his apartment) then theres no issue.

Oh man, so tasty, but yet so spicy. Sometimes feels like your stomach is going to implode on itself after eating a lot of it. I can totally relate.
Thanks for linking that old Terror video a few pages back, I forgot how hilarious that was...

The Nongshim noodles are pretty spicy, but there are far more dangerous noodles. I used to buy the Paldo brand spicy cup noodle from a local convenience store. I enjoy spicy foods, but that brand is borderline painful to eat. If someone 'forced' me to eat 5 Paldo spicy cup noodles, I can almost guarantee I would become seriously ill.

Then again, after you eat once or of
Nothing really taste the same anymore.

Wait. Does he rent? Then he is a truly horrible person. If it's just his place, then I guess if you want to trash it.... I feel for the landlords.
I don't know if he still rents, but sometimes when he does absurd things with soy sauce you can see he does have something covering the floor and goes up the wall a bit. But this is when he had a puddle of it on the floor.

I seem to recall his floor puddled with a significant amount of alcohol, but maybe it was soy sauce. And it looked like someone took a hammer to the wall or something. Appalling behaviour, really. It's like watching a train wreck. You don't want to look, but you can't help it.
I doubt the kids were seriously going to try to full time broadcaster, and the soy sauce thing is ridiculous.
Also is this ACTUALLY considered child abuse? I mean I guess since Terror coerced them into doing it it can be? but its more like some crazy television show shit.
How much does a guy like Terror make from being a BJ on Afreeca, ballpark comparisons or even just wild conjecture is welcome, and is most of the money guys make from it due to those balloon donation things or is there a healthy amount of ad revenue there as well?

Kids: Hey mom and dad, sorry we dropped out of school. Anyhow, we're going over to the apartment of some guy we met on the internet who likes to scream at the camera, pour food on himself, and re-enacted a rape video. He also basically ruined his apartment by throwing things.
Parents: That's nice dear. Be home for dinner! ^_^ y

So if you were to abuse a child for the sake of the show, is it right to do so?
If you were to re-enact a child rape for the sake of the show, is it right?
If you wake your neighbors in the middle of the night and constantly bother them for the sake of entertainment, is it right?
This isn't the first time this happened. He's been to police station multiple times for creating loud noise, and has been temp banned from afreeca for re-enacting a child rape/murder scene for 'sake of entertainment'
The truly surprising thing to me about this, is that there appears to be no plastic on terrors ground. Where hes chucking a bucket of soy sauce. How little does he care about his own apartment???

these supposed to be pictures of terror's house. from what I know he bought it so he owns the place. According to other streamers, terror is pretty normal and he just acts crazy on stream.
I don't buy it though this guy is batshit insane!!
I think, ultimately, at the end of the day, this story had a happy ending.
He was kind of teaching these kids what it will take to get on his level of notoriety. The kids will now think long and hard before deciding to quit school to become a BJ.
Who knows, maybe those two might surpass Terror in terms of y'know shenanigans. Either way, a message is sent to them regarding their future.

I think to most people it's the sheer ridiculousness of the situation which is laughable. What he did on stream isn't funny at all (but then again I hate Terror and don't find anything he does to be funny)... but 1. who the fuck throws soy sauce on people, and 2. this being labelled as "child abuse" is absurd.
Afreeca obviously doesn't consider what he did to be very serious either, since the "ban" is only for a week. But they still stated child abuse as the reason, which completely contradicts the actual punishment. It's just bizarre, and the hyperbole discredits the severity of actual abuse, in my opinion.
Anyway, my point is that maybe you've misinterpreted people's reactions.

I agree with what you are saying for the most part, but believe me, a lot of people think his action is funny, there is a reason he has this much success

You realize the two aren't linked right? lol. It's funny that he'll have a tub of soy sauce around. It's funny that the two kids lost in a 2v1 though I guess they are middle school kids so not as much of an appetite for that hot stuff. Is the soy sauce likely to cause them any harm? no as long as they closed their eyes. Should Terror have done this? well, kids, not really but it's also not child abuse (or something I think is bannable as long as they agreed to it). Are terrors' other acts like the dog incident or the previous incident where he got banned from afreeca funny? not really, not even close because those were either disgusting or just straight up bizzare but I think this is funny.

he gets sorta creative with his cuss words so i just used generic fillers! use your imagination!
I still don't get why it's "child abuse"...the kids probably shouldn't have dropped out of school but that's their choice, eating the spicy cup noodles kinda sucks but they agreed to it and it's literally eating food not forced to do it or anything wtf, and honestly getting soy sauce poured on you isn't abusive at all... .-.

lol wow, so this guy challenged these 2 kids to a eating contest, they lost so he dumped a bucket of soy sauce on em?
and omg the screaming before he dumps it on em...!! I nearly blew my brains out from that noise. I think that beats Jim Carreys version of the most annoying sound in the world in the movie "Dumb and Dumber".
If he actually got charged with a crime here... I mean clearly these 2 kids agreed before hand, not like he was holding em against there will or anything. and not like they were 5 years old or somethin

I'm surprised to see Korea having a singular house like that. I was under the impression that the country have a huge population density. From the looks of it, that place looks to be in the suburb.
I don't think this was really ban-worthy just for the food stuff. Personally, I find it worse that these two kids ended up at his house alone with him in the first place, than that they ate spicy food and he threw soy sauce on them.
I'm also surprised no one's called this 'Afreeca's war on Terror' yet.

I could be mistaken, but from what I know Terror was not banned on spot and instead banned just after MBC News aired their story on this "child abuse" incident. Afreeca needed to protect their image
I fucking hate Korean media, especially MBC, such horrible biased propaganda reporting by them.
So one of those kids had been coming to Terror's house nearly every day at that point, begging to be featured on stream and such. Terror then struck a deal with them, saying that if they can beat him in a eating contest, then they'll win like 200 or 400 dollars or smth like that from him and they'll have their streams linked to Terror's (so they get exposure). Terror was basically making the point to these kids that the life of an Afreeca BJ is too hard, and they should go back to school because it's better for them.
That kid who was "crying" after being soaked by soy sauce was later laughing on stream to show to the viewers that he was just joking around. Terror took care of them post-stream, lending them the shower and clothing, driving them home, etc ..
However, Korean news media has this stupid agenda against anything game-related, and sets this story up as a piece of propaganda .. they only show parts of this incident to fit their story, like the kid crying (but not his laughing shortly after), to make Terror seem like a child abuser instead of someone trying to set them on the right path
This isn't the first time Korean media has been the source of such disgusting reporting. There was the infamous incident where a MBC news reporter turned off the power to a PC Bang, and used that as "evidence" that gamers are violent dirty people. Or this "story" about the "shocking truth" about foreigners stealing Korean women.

makes me feel bad for him T_T I'm inclined to believe that statement considering it seems plausible and given the Korea media and their propaganda that Arvickhero mentioned. As mentioned, maybe he can still stream on twitch for the viewers though someone will have to tell him about it?
I've always leaned towards him being a little weird but sane and mainly just doing it for an act. I hope this doesn't set some harsher standard so that we might have to worry about other Afreeca streamers. Obviously though, no one really does anything that matches the level of what he does. Is there anyone else we know that we might have to worry about doing something else that could get them banned with harsh rule, even streamers of things other than SCBW?
Hello Everyone it’s BJ Chulgu. I heard it was a week but instead I got a permanent ban... When I was unbanned after my first permaban I was really happy but being permabanned again makes me feel real lonely.... To the viewers who watched my stream, thank you. You swear at me but I’m grateful you watched my stream. I couldn’t write on my Afreeca page so I’m writing here. While streaming there were a lot of words..
The first time he got permbanned, he tried streaming on twitch. But he had a lot of trouble setting up a paypal account for donations; the afreeca balloon system is just easier and more lucrative.
I caught a few of his games including the one against trutacz where he took a nap in the middle and still won.

I feel like the kids should really come forth and try to revert that ban thats ridiculous.
This is just so sad ): Terror while quirky doesn't seem to be malicious or horrible or anything and now he's getting ridiculously punished for something that's not his fault :\

I believe that he is the most popular streamer there.
That's like losing your most valuable asset.
That's why they reversed the decision from last time.
It's not exactly like "oh without terror we are not making money we need him back ." They decided to do a really complicated process involving a lot of voting/debating/judging from viewers and admins. And the banned streamer had to do a bunch of community service too. And honestly Terror's balloon earnings are nothing close to high earning girl cam streamers.. I don't think they'd regret it that much since it does get rid of some negative publicity that Afreeca gets.

oh hmm I see. Well, I guess he won't be streaming anytime soon then unless its on some other platform I haven't heard of lol. Also, lol at bolded. Was he that up ahead or did he outclass trutacz that badly? I will have to question how long this nap was for

and omg the screaming before he dumps it on em...!!
Kids can't give legal consent unless korea is different from most of the world. Consent would have to be given by parents and kids may or may not have to be up for it.
But if you want to argue if this is child abuse is completely another story. Either way all i can think about is the smell of the place soaked in soy sauce.

So now minors need parents to sign contracts to interact with older people? I'm mind baffled a contest/prank broadcasted can be considered remotely close to something like child abuse.

South Korean Laws indicates that such action may/is considered child abuse I guess.
its not so much legality as it is MBC news and other korean media outlets twisting the story to fit their desired narrative. Nobody is going to press charges against Terror for this lol

And it wasn't so much the legality I was just giving a riposte to the idea that children can give consent and that makes everything okay. As if the problem with how he acts is child abuse or not child abuse as long as children agree to it. Which btw child abuse is often defined by the state and the child's consent has nothing to do with it. As a child can be okay with being molested their consent has no weight on deciding if molestation is child abuse, the abused aren't allowed to okay abuse, at least not until they are their own person, then only to a certain extent.
At Least that was my point in saying if you want to talk child abuse it's a completely other subject, consent is a tangential manner. I don't think this is child abuse, if it was morally acceptable or not just depends if the kids were coerced in any unusual manner.
Already lurked in this thread for awhile, but I just have to pop in and say that the image of Terror drenching two willing kids in soy-sauce is just so strange...and uniquely...Terror.

It looks (from the spores) that he successfully defended a 9pool with a 12pool, which would give him the leeway needed to take a nap
there are alternatives like popkontv which terror streamed on for a while. the downside is that those stream servers are so tiny compared to afreeca so they dont have the bandwidth to support tons of viewers.

uh yea that's not what I was referring to at all lol. I was answering the post above mine, and by extension answering all the other posts that seemed to be confused as to why this was labeled/considered "child abuse"

good read. I wouldn't have known even if though I just saw the video lol.
so Nickelodeons Double Dare will be facing like 1,000 lawsuits from kids who have pending "childhood abuse" cases against them for getting doused? This is idiotic. I really don't see the big deal here. If the kids parents don't mind them being there, considering he's somewhat of a personality, I don't see the issue, other than the weird creepy michael jackson vibes associated with hanging out with people a third your age, but other than that! haha
but in all seriousness I think a month ban would have been more appropriate than permanent. Guy should just go to Twitch or something anyways ... If he's that popular... his fans will follow him.
Afreeca isn't the only dog in the doghouse, and in fact, I doubt they have anything on Twitch or TL community wise, but what do I know. Even IF Afreeca has more hits, which it probably does, the viewers I doubt are as wealthy or prominent in relation so he would probably get more donations elsewhere anyways.
I'm kind of venturing off from the mainpoint but hey I think this is bullshit, and I wanted to speak up. This guy does ALL OF THIS -just- for FUN.

that's a pretty good idea actually lol. You want to be unbanned since I presume the bans are for something outrageous(like terror's first >.>) then help the community!
