This already happened because Sonic forgot to research/pay the tourney fee for prize pools > than like $5000. In fact it probably gave him more viewers because of the drama of it happening right before SSL6(?)

This always seems to happen with Chinese events. We hear about some cool event, there is some nice hype for it...and then it is forgotten. Or best case scenario is we get to here some results, like what happened with Ssak and Jaystar. That's not bad, but that match easily could have had a nice LR thread with everyone watching live.

you can watch the games on youku if your interested. i did that and jaystar vs ssak was greatly entertaining. But ofc your point is valid, there is not enough manpower/ information to do a good coverage on the chinese scene.

Maybe it's related, but it seems like often no one knows about it at all though, as someone always seems to say oh I would have put up a LR thread if I had known this was occurring. I personally didn't even realize the match had been scheduled (I think someone mentioned it once in the thread but it got swallowed up).

I don't know situation with CN streams. Are they just laggy/inconsistent and/or not consolidated the way Sonic and to a lesser extent Afreeca in general is?

I haven't had the interest to delve deep into what it's all about. But imagine SOSPA without snipealot's streams, it wouldn't be nearly as huge to us. What's missing is someone regularly checking the chinese sites, making LR's, making events for the TL Calendar etc. None has done that like what ArvickHero, snipealot, and now I have done.

The biggest problem is reliable (re)streams. LR, Calendar Events, TLPD, Liquibets, write-ups could all come if there was a reliable and consistent way to watch Chinese events like we can watch SOSPA events thanks to snipealot (btw, snipealot tried restreaming some of the Chinese events, but it was still buffering constantly).

Also part of the problem is there is not a well organized website like teamliquid for Chinese bw. There are multiple fractions and they all want to do their own thing. Events are posted only very last minute, and are constantly subject to changes (I.e. not very professional).

Then there is also the lag issue...... Chinese streams mostly cater only to Chinese audience, so anyone outside of he Chinese firewall will experience lag.

Stream lag has gotten better the past 1-2 years. I watch a lot of Chinese Dota streams and they are for the most part lag-free now.

There are three streaming services that I know of. COSL uses sina, which is terrible for me. FBL uses fengyun (storm), which is lagless.
