Lol at everyone complaining about Jangbi cheese and whatnot. Who is the greatest most loved BW/esports player of all time? How did he get started? What was he known for? Funny that one of Boxer's disciples is brought down by cheese, (admittedly much less entertaining cheese than Boxers) What I thought most interesting was how obviously Jangbi had prepared his builds. He barely scouted/didn't even scout in a few games. His first DT rush was completely blind. He clearly knew what Fantasy was going to do and planned accordingly, and Fantasy failed to adapt.

It might have cost him the championship ![]() Congrats JangBi, last OSL champion!!! :D :D JangBi told us before hand that we will be able to see a bit of everything in the games today and thus we saw Robo tech, Templar Achieve, and StarGates ones. I think he delivered perfectly. Only umbrage I have is the last game. He could have made the game much longer... back of after he killed the initial tanks, double expands from there and just play defensively. Pantaji will be fighting up hill throughout a slow but surely the eventual death of exhaustion as we see JangBi BMing like crazy with Mind Control, and Scoutuuuu!! DADADA!. I would really love to see that and the fans across the world even go crazier. But alas, we don't know if Fantasy might pull off some crazy Vulture Terrorism at mid game that will be able to get him back into the game, JangBi did what he had to do to seal off the championship. I am prone to defend sc2 simply because its the game I play, but that doesnt mean I need to bash bw and a reverse situation is also uncalled for. People will alway find a reason to laud bw as the golden game and claim sc2 is shit, and if thats what you believe then its probably time for you to stop following the starcraft scene. Sc2 is evolving constantly, and well see where it ends, and if can ever match the greatness of bw. I personally just like to see skilled players play these games, and play them myself. This finals, while cool, looked a lot like many sc2 finals, and thats fine with me. I personally only watch SC2 because of G2D and IdrA, other members are not worth my time with the exception of Artosis because he is the ONLY caster that knows wtf is going on. But I still like G2D because of his qualities, and his absolute polar opposite personality of Day[9] whom I have respected once upon a time.

Fantasy got outplayed, and in a completely straight up manner. Brood war is a game played on the razor's edge. Even the most skilled players can misread the other and lose outright. To claim that some over aggressive or cheesey builds are illegitimate and not worthy of a finals is to miss the point of competitive gaming; you bring everything you have to the table. I didn't cry foul when JulyZerg 5pooled BeSt 3 times in a row, and I won't cry foul now that Jangbi used carriers, proxy reavers and DTs to win. Jangbi has always played a unique and abusive style that's unlike other Protosses. It fits him, and it's fitting that his back to back OSL wins are on the backs of this kind of play. I'm a Fantasy fan too. I wanted a Fantasy 3-0 to happen so that he could claim a perfect OSL run. I didn't get that, but I got some solid Brood War, the likes of which we haven't seen for a while (thanks, Proleague), and the likes of which we won't see for a long time. I don't question the fact that fantasy got outplayed, but only how it happened and the value of the games, I'm not saying that players shouldn't cheese, by all means, do what you have to do to win, that won't stop me from fiercely believing that these games have less value, because they truly do in many ways, and that if it came down to it, jangbi would very quickly run out of cards to play in a longer series, this to me was disservice to how much better fantasy has been playing for a long time. Mind me, this has nothing to do with me loving macro games only or anything of the sort, I just happen to like good strategical moves in a row, not fishing poles in the fog of war into gg. Interesting analogies but inapplicable to these games. Jangbi came with prepared builds but nowhere in the series was there a situation where both players blind picked a build, and then the outcome was decided by what each picked. On NEC Jangbi chose a build that's deadly against 14CC on that map, and he did so *after* seeing a 14CC built brazenly at Fantasy's wall. He saw a weakness and chose the most abusive punishment. Fantasy received as much scouting as he could possibly leverage, but his contingency (or lack thereof) for proxy robo just failed. On Gladiator Jangbi did blind pick his 2 gate range into archives play, but the build showed at least THREE key pieces of information that Fantasy could've read: SCV in main sees 2 gates, Vulture in nat sees no nexus, for minutes before DTs come Jangbi shows aggressive suicide mine clearing. Any sort of response from Fantasy involving detection would've put him up but he didn't choose them for whatever reason. My guesses: 1. Fantasy parried a different DT opener in game 2. Maybe he felt he discouraged further DT openers. 2. Fantasy got a blind greed opening punished by an elevator and reaver response. Perhaps he chose fac cc fac double shop to snub any bulldog or elevator breaks. He also made a bunker at front instead of an ebay. 3. Fantasy saw a lot of success in game 2 with standard play + an aggressive vulture presence that yanked Jangbi's army around the map. His fast 2 shop is a good way to get double upgraded vultures out en masse soon after an expo. Regardless of his reasoning, Fantasy made an unsuccessful play. But whatever plays either player made were the fruits of research, preparation, practice, and ultimately on-site intuition and wits. Not luck. Every single opening, "cheese" or not, is blind up till a certain point in the game, and it is up to the player to prepare contingencies and adapt.

Seeing grown-up men crying on stage, and Kim Carrier with his broken voice telling all the viewers how much he loves the game and all the fans... I cried. I don't understand a single word of korean, but I can feel the passion that he is emitting. If there is anyone that deserve our love (upcoming appreciation project?) after all these years, it has to be Kim Carrier. I didn't think Starcraft could be this touching, but I was wrong. It can't end like this. It just can't. + Show Spoiler + On the other hand, if it has to end, then I wouldn't want any other ending than the one I just described ![]()

The Emperor who paved the way, overcoming the ruthless Storm, To continue protecting the empire, it was then succeeded by the Cheater, Many have tried to take it down, including the God of War with its mighty horns, But it took a Tornado reigning the crown as long as it could, making him one of the best victors, Then came along a Maestro, destroyer and savior in the kingdom's darkest hours, Until it was stopped by a Revolutionist, to maintain balance with its new found power, However the Tyrant was there too, devouring all known legends with ferocity, Thank goodness however, there exists an Ultimate Weapon ending his monstrosity, Many thought he will win it all till the end, nonetheless the Terrorist struck him down first, Wanting to return the empire's former glory, he did all he could killing many, Only to be defeated by the Almighty twice, giving the hero his deserved prize. :'(

Arbitrarily speaking, I used to detest the player wholeheartily but then as time developed, I've gained a massive respect for the guy because he is the sole foreigner that is able to handle Korean training regime in which 90% of them don't nearly take this job as seriously and just dick around ffs.
