He says in his videos that the reason he dissapeared was that a lot of stuff came up; he finished "schooling" (probably college), got a new job, and is getting more schooling (probably md/phd), so he was in a transition phase and didn't have time to commentate.
but I have a question which needs to be asked I think. After this OSL season and PL season, we won't be seeing BW (other than China unless something big happens) does this mean he will going to cast SC2? or is he back like for 2 months only?

he probably wont. idk what happened to him stopping commentating but he stopped when BW was still really healthy so probably busy with real life but the allure of the last BW OSL brought him back. I doubt he will commentate for long unless his life scheduled changed.
man, his disappearance was one of the great mysteries in the last days of BW TL.

I would cry tears of joy and probably a bit of sadness too if we could get a live Cholera/Klazart dualcast of the OSL finals T.T
So happy that Cholera is back!!!!! I dropped everything I was doing as soon as I saw him on my YT subscription. Man this brings back such good memories of the golden age of BW and watching his group commentaries with klazart, diggity, moletrap, and rise. If i remember correctly, klazart and cholera did a live commentary of osl or msl finals between july zerg and bisu in the dead of night. I remember listening to the commentary at like 3am and it was amazing! Welcome back cholera, although i'm sure he's only going to be back for a couple games, and thanks for the memories!

I remember the one where they were doing a live Finals and Moletrap had to leave at 4am or something and Cholera tried to bribe him with $10. I think Diggity was in on that too.
It was the cast of youtube commentators (especially klazart and cholera) who got me into professional starcraft. When I eventually found TL and learned more about the game, I realized that maybe those guys didn't have the best analysis around, as they were never top players themselves. Still to this day I don't care a bit, and I will always have a special place in my nerd heart for drawing me in.
Cholera forever!!! (and seriously watch his hyuk commentaries, absolutely hilarious)

This fucking exactly! I owe the fact that I'm here enjoying starcraft too Cholera and Klazart!
Also his Hyuk ones are great, but you haven't watched BW until you watch Cholera cast a Reach game <3

Yep, the Stork vs. Mantoss game comes to mind: "Reach's reaver just threw a flying biceps towards stork's army" or something like that haha ;D
Cholera was an incredibly influential commentator, his introduction of Reach is the exact style Artosis would later use to introduce NesTea. There were others before him but no one really hyped players up well and gave personalities to otherwise faceless Koreans until Cholera.
Also I just noticed how much he says "um" in both past and current commentaries, it's really bugging me.
Man even now when I start to type youtube.com into my browser the first result is youtube.com/CholeraSC and not the main site. Seeing a new video from him is amazing, even if he hasn't casted for 2.5 years.
Cholera!!! I rewatched his videos every now and then but it was always depressing cause I thought we'd never hear from him again. I miss his real war history analogies
I maybe an odd person on TL, but i have played a total of 10 hours of BW and SC2 total. I learned the game through Rise, Klazart and Cholera, and I will always miss those days. After them, I went to Ranshin and Nuke for my MSL and OSL resectively. This being the last proper OSL, I can't think of a better send out than of the old guard doing the casting for me.
Thanks Cholera, and Please finish the OSL. Not only will it extend the OSL for me, but make it F'amazing.
Now I can experience the legend that I have heard a lot about on all the forum fronts when people talk about youtube upload legends, even as a guy that came late to the party with the rise of SC2, its good to appreciate greatness where it exists . I have heard a lot of great things about cholera and I'm glad to hear he is back to business :DDDD.
The man that got me into this game :O!! This is so awesome! THE RETURN!! (If only for a short time, it doesn't matter, holy crap he's still alive, maybe one day a dual commentary with Rise again!!!!!)
I actually can't believe this. Did anyone else look at his channel every now and then and notice people still asking where he was. I was like, that is a nice sentiment but someone doesn't just leave his channel with no explanation for 2 and a half years and then come back because his fans are spamming "where are you cholera?". and then I read this. HAHA i guess he is back for broodwars last hurrah. God this is going to be a sad time when the OSL is over. I love the broodwar scene. but I haven't been able to watch pro league since the hybrid league. so OSL is it for me. Welcome back Cholera! now i have to Watch the finals 3 times. With you, Nuke and in Korean.
Four years ago I made my youtube account just to subscribe to him, Klazart, diggity, and moletrap. Nice to see at least one of those four has returned at least to do one last cast.
Very cool. I won't pretend that I understand the amount of effort that goes into a return like this, but I know it must be pretty significant. Thanks to Cholera and anyone else who makes it possible.
I seriously watched every single Cholera commentary when he was still active. He's what got me into BW to begin with, especially his commentaries of pimpest plays videos. Oh man, this is awesome.
my favourite trio of all time for bw was cholera does wonky introduction and humours into the cast, klazart spouting that wpm at battle times that kept track of every moves done by the players and diggity doing his cold analytic commentary on the strategic side of things.
oh man has it really been 2.5 years?
it felt like yesterday i was still getting up at night time to catch the ProLeague final between SKT and Hwaseung Oz with all three of these guys on board.
WOW Always hoped for this day, but never actually expected it. It's really surreal. I always remember Cholera for saying "GGplay now has more gas than Saudi Arabia". One of the most memorable lasting starcraft comment ever!
Super glad he came back as he was my favorite commentator, as he was super passionate. I can't believe it was 2.5 years since his last video, I used to watch these religiously.
I actually owe Cholera a lot for my passion about Broodwar and probably my passion about Starcraft in general. I'll never forget watching my first BW commentary, which was Jaedong vs. Bisu, Lecaf-Oz vs. SKT1 set 5 with Cholera and Moletrap casting.
Got me into BW and made me the massive JD fan I am today.
Yay! I loved listening to Cholera ramble about military tactics and such during his casts. I hope this is the start of a long and wonderful commentating career (be it BW (unlikely) or SC2). Even if it's not, it's good to have you back, Cholera!
The Golden Age of SC commentaries? Huh. To me there is no Golden Age. Guys noticed a lack of English content so they just decided to do it and they convened at one website. I forget the name, but it might have been SC2GG. The only thing I do remember is a lot of them getting mocked for their game knowledge so I don't get your selling point.
I know Cholera as some fanboys, but give me a break. If he's as good as these people are led to believe I'm sure we'll start hearing a lot more from him through word of mouth and he'll get picked up somewhere.

Are you kidding? People are excited the same way that they're excited to watch old progamers play. Obviously he's not the best by today's standards, and even at the time he was only a C- Zerg or something but for people who watched commentaries before the age of Day[9] it's great to have him back.
I don't really like him (something with the voice) but I suppose it's good for BW... On a related note I really miss the days of GomTV when Tasteless was casting together with Daniel. Monkey milk, anyone? I know it won't happen but getting both of them back to casting BW would be a dream come true for me lol.

TL thinking that tasteless was the only worthy commentator and mocking the actual entertaining casters like klazart because they weren't knowledgeable enough

By Golden Age, I meant when nearly every game SPL, MSL, OSL, from qualifiers onwards were cast by some commentator, who, even if they didn't have a massive knowledge of the game, were entertaining and fun to watch in their own way. Rise would bash everyone, Klazart for his passion, Cholera for his Reach crush/Hyuk bashing and history lessons, etc.etc.
To me (and a lot of others), it was an amazing time where nearly every starcraft VOD could be watched with a decently entertaining english commentator.
Nowadays, Nuke tries to handle all of OSL and Sayle all of SPL, and they do an amazing job for 2 people, but it's not like the days where 6-8 good commentators casted and often did dual/triple casts together.
Edit: Cholera doesn't seem interested in doing commentaries for a job; he just finished some schooling and is doing some more "schooling" (probably an MD or PhD), and already has a job at a Northeastern US company, which frankly is probably more stable than commentating.

What this guy said. It was a good time to be getting into the pro scene. Even if he's only doing it for a hobby Cholera should put out good content. I'd be just as happy if Cholera never gets into doing commentary for money, because his enthusiasm and excitement never sounded fake. I think that's what a lot of us miss. When you're paid to sound excited it ruins that.
Many people recognize the 2007 as the golden age of stacraft it was the best moment for foreign around the world to get into the BW scene pretty much all the games were comentate with very differents style. you can even pick!! So when was the Silver Age ?
i was literally just going through cholera's youtube channel the other day watching old osl games and stuff. this is good, although what is there to commentate now (hopefully csl will get big enough and there'll be lots of cool foreigner things though)
Great that he is back. He should've taken the time to tell everyone he was going to be unable to commentate before he left, though. Dick move to just randomly stop and never respond to anyone's questions on his channel.

YES! I've been waiting for this moment for a long time. Welcome back Cholera! "Bisu the Hair Toss, Reach the Man Toss, etc etc etc." Loved every second of it.
Cholera, Moletrap, Klazart, Diggity, Nuke... EASILY a few thousand hours watching and rewatching their VODS. So happy to hear the news.
They were my gateway into professional brood war. Someone mentioned it earlier, but they really helped put faces and personalities to what would otherwise be player A versus B.
Will be watching and rewatching the finals on at least 3 different channels.

Um, no? Nick being the only worthy commentator? Are you crazy? Sure guys gave him more leeway because he had the balls to approach Wheaty and say, "Look man, I think you could use a little help casting these games. I live and breath Starcraft. How about you let me help you out with the casting?" Other than that to this very day he continues to get ripped just like the rest.
We're talking about leeway. Nick got leeway in the beginning and not much more than that. Let's be honest.
Entertaining is personal preference. Now we're going into subjective territory.
If you ask me there are very few guys who are very knowledgeable about the game let alone commentate it.
I tried watching MLG today and you know what? I got bored. So much in between time with analyst that dragged on and I didn't find much to get too excited about with the use of their voices, but you know what? Their voices were controlled and at the end of the day they didn't lose their voices. Good for them on that, but I rather have music blaring in the background.

Wow, I'm missing for a weekend and this is what happens? This is pretty freaking amazing. I'll have to watch these videos when I have a chance and hope I don't tear up.
My interest in BW slowly waned when all the English BW commentators slowly started becoming busy and disappearing. Definitely want to watch the OSL semis and finals if Cholera is going to cast them all.
Without you, I'd never find my way into StarCraft. There are hardly words in my vocabulary that could describe the joy that fills my heart after reading this post. I just wanted to say 'thank you' and please do not leave us alone for so long anymore.

YES! I just checked; I never unsubscribed from either . Cholera's first upload now has 15,000 views. I'm going to watch him tonight!
Besides his ridiculous bromance with Reach, some of my favorite Cholera moments were actually when he made a bad joke. There'd be this slight pause, and then this quiet snickering because he just couldn't help himself. That'd always crack me up.
Cholera, I wish you the best and I'll be watching!

He should switch to sc2 and establish himself as one of the best caster, just so he can cast some big events and meet Zergbong in person. I would definitely love to see that.
But if he decides to comment the foreign bw scene, then I certainly don't mind either.
Would be cool to see if Cholera kinda supports the small BW scene here~ But I don't mind him commentating SC2 either. I'm just really happy to see him back.

I shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as these guys <3
Something I loved about watching these guys was they'd drop a lot of knowledge for the viewers while still keeping the casts entertaining. Cholera was probably the most well balanced with that, it made it hard not to watch the casts because it would be useful and fun to watch. When I watched Husky's vods I felt like I was getting dumber, and Day9 tries to keep the teaching mostly in his dailies, his casting style is closer to Husky's where he pushes phony excitement. Sorry for the Day9 hate but just being real, I don't want to sit through boring hour long dailies to learn SC2, half of which is him thinking he knows way more about life than he does and sharing his views with the audience ( =x ). So that's my selfish reasoning for wanting Cholera and maybe some other old faces in the SC2 scene. I miss that casting style.
I watched Cholera's new vods and it looks like he's still got it. They're the first Broodwar games I've watched in a while and it's even more epic considering they may be the last professional games ever played. Also sad.

hahahhahahha omg i love the zergbong casts REALLY gave me a negative opinion of nestea season 2. Good thing he was able to change that when he won a GSL without dropping a single game
Rusty indeed, but fun to hear that voice again. I have been enjoying BW since 2008. Cholera and Klazart got me into it. After his retirement I've been follwing Nuke (and he has been improving his casting skills with every OSL... Nuke is god now).
absolutely LOVE Cholera and all the sc2gg casters (Rise, Klazart, Moletrap, Diggity). their commentaries on reach, hyuk, zergbong, skyhigh, firebathero, and the Rock were amazing
