I'm not going to start watching SC2. I gave it a chance, twice actually and both times I unconsciously stopped. I have tried watching a few matches of other games with professional scene. Nothing could match BW for me.

Lmao. Dota 2 powerrank would be hilarious, because of the sample size of broadcasted games after every major tournament the top 10 players on the rank would contain every player that played in the finals. And the discussion would contain "But X got 12 creep denies and Y only got 11" or "BKB is totally op, X player doesn't deserve top 1".

And not to mention, sad and pathetic. If BW fans weren't so elitist and quick to judge newcomers, maybe BW would have actually grown with the huge influx of SC2 fans. Im so sorry that when I played SC1 I was in middle school and had little interest in competitive RTS and following a video game scene from a foreign country. Does that mean I enjoyed SC1 and BW any less than you? SC2 is easy, BW is hard, no one in their right mind will argue with that. But beyond that, the SC2 community is open and willing to help and accept noobs. The SC2 community is full of generous people who genuinely want to help newcomers and grow the fan base. In stark contrast is the BW community where asking a noob question is grounds for ridicule. To some extent you guys are your own worst enemies, part of the reason BW never caught on outside of Korea. Get off your high horses please, it doesn't make anyone sympathetic towards your cause.

Read the next line after that bla bla bla grandma and grandpa story . Not our problem when players your self never experience bw in the first place . Also to claim one community is being generous than other is really does not bide when you don't have grounds to prove it . Look at any sc2 players who open up a "help me get in to bw " thread and show me the animosity we have against these new comers . There are none, also talking about the poll and than relating us to be some pompous and arrogant elites from the good old days is a no go here . No enemies are made we just love the game as it is right now and people level of tolerant are pretty low right now . Also don't need to play the "aww I won't give your sympathy " card right now . Never need one, didn't even ask for one .

BW fans just hate when sc2 fans come to our small part of this forum (which used to belong entirely to us) and shit on our game and say they're happy BW is dying. Fuck that. There are tons of threads of sc2 noobs trying to learn about BW and they are greeted very kindly and filled with helpful information and welcoming hands. BW fans are VERY quick to lend a helping hand to anyone who approaches the vast world of BW with an open mind and a yearning to learn. What we hate is sc2 fans who think they know everything and want BW to die. EDIT: ninja sniped by Sawamura EDIT2: I'm starting to think that the sc2 fans are more condescending to the BW community than we are to them anymore. Sure we started off with a shit ton of animosity since we didn't want to see our beloved game die, but we have cooled off a lot since then and accepted the fact that a transition is inevitable. It's like the sc2 community doesn't want to realize that we have been doing this shit for YEEEAAARS, why wouldn't we have a tidbit of knowledge? I mean shit... I wonder what they would call the tournaments if it weren't for BW? I wonder what threads they would have if they didn't have ours to copy? (sc2 BM thread, etc). I really really really wonder what the sc2 pro scene would be like if there weren't ever a BW one for them to bite off.

I only started watching BW when I got into SC2 but I would always see PL matches on when I would stay up to watch GSL. A lot of times I watched the BW games instead because they honestly are more interesting, even though I couldn't understand the commentary or much of the game for that matter. When I found Sayle stream it helped a lot having an english commentator and it really made me want to play again, and try to learn some of the 1v1 competitive aspect of BW. Don't take me for one of these vindictive SC2 players who wants to see SC2 take BW's place. I'm merely talking from my experience. I reinstalled BW a month ago and tried to play on line. I know I'm a noob, but I was just trying to join custom games. I was kicked from 5 in a row instantly for being 0-0-0. I gave up and have only tried to play once since then.. I have also been kicked from streams and such for asking noob questions I guess. Again, I don't meant to be inflammatory, even though my first post was pretty poorly worded. Sorry! and hypocritical -.-

Good luck finding equivalents threads on sc2 forum

Sorry! and hypocritical -.- I wasn't trying to say you were an offender, I was just stating my frustrations in general. Starting to play BW on ICCUP is reaaalllly hard, the competition is really stiff. Best thing you can do is find a practice partner who is around your skill level. I actually stopped playing BW for a few years and got into wc3, and when I tried to switch back it was really difficult getting used to the lack of automining, etc. Watching Sayle's casts are a great way to understand the builds of the pros, then practice practice practice ![]()

I don't follow SCII. DotA 2 PR is more likely. Will stop following professional StarCraft. Will stay for the community.
