So Im guessing this would probably be like last year when SKT sent their best players early and KT late. My guess: CH vs Bisu Action vs Fantasy Wooki vs Sun Flash vs Best Stats vs s2 Hoejja vs alone/hyuk/soo
WOW! Chain reaction, this is really interesting!!! KT coaches have to think really hard! I wonder who from SKT trained for this map nearly for a month, i hope its Fantasy. xD But on the first set they will send Soo to hide their ace! Can't w8 for the finals!
And I hope KT coaches will Flash for an ACE match, a super unexpected decision! And we will see the TvT of the century on Chain Reaction. The map will be divided in half, well it is already divided. There will tons of tanks and turrets and battlecruisers. Flash and Fantasy will turtle like they never turtled before. Nukes will be used to for defence! And it will end in an epic battle which will result in a draw! And the rematch ends the same, and again, until ...
It's actually kind of interesting to see a reversal of the situation from last year. Previously, Coach Park would have wanted to set BeSt up against Flash in the hopes of sniping him (although I'll never be quite convinced that was a good idea), but now that BeSt has taken up the role of Bisu 2.0, avoiding Flash and taking out a zerg instead would be the ideal plan.

I say just sacrifice Hyuk or Soo to Flash and try to match up Fantasy vs Stats and it should never go to ace.

Honestly, I want to see Fantasy vs Flash. Although I think that will never happen.
I think its an interesting choice by SKT, you cannot discard Fantasy from being sent out on that map while on Neo Outlier it was 100% a protoss by skt1
Not a huge BW follower but do love proleague. Could someone explain why you would not put Flash as the ace player? Isn't he the undisputed best player?

He is KT's ace but if he comes out every ace match then it makes him vulnerable to get sniped by other team

What ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ said, but also because the map is unfavorable, or that he is way too busy. See KT vs Khan day 1. And see the ONLY ace match last year where Stats played instead of Flash. It was vs Stork as well.
In terms of map choice, I think SKT is daring KT to field a Zerg. They'll probably prepare Bisu or Fantasy for the ace. So it's all up to KT to choose between logic (Zerg, maybe Hoejja), counter-logic (Protoss, Stats), or stick to the TRUTH: that Flash is still far and away the best BW player to have ever existed and it would be a travesty not to put the team on his shoulders for the final game of this year's proleague when he's been carrying KT all his life.
A three-peat would actually be pretty fun. Then again, this could be the last (half) season of SC1 Proleague. It would be nice to see the team with the greatest prestige triumph.

Never count out Hyuk against Flash. He's one of those unpredictable players that lose only to himself.

So there.
Flash vs Fantasy ace match incoming.
Even though KT zergs performance has been amazing so far, KT will not field a Z. Bisu is the best PvZer ever, and Fantasy vs Z during playoffs, and especially ace games, is super scary because he can always come with the sickest bulds (see Fantasy vs JD, Fantasy vs Effort etc).
I see reaver play being quite strong on this map PvT, and Protoss can take expansions all around the map. If Flash is sent out, I think his build will be 1 rax FE into 1 fact 1 port, 1 wraith to prevent reaver harass, followed by a dropship (do not forget that the cliff at the natural is droppable, and the main mineral line can be hit by tanks dropped on the high ground behind).
Fantasy has not played a single game on NCR/CR, I do not believe he will be sent, and while he's in super shape, he is still the underdog against Flash's TvT, and probably the underdog against Stats on a difficult map like this one.
I am almost sure that the ace match will be Bisu vs Stats. If ace match there is !
I'm not much of a fan of NCR as a map, so seeing it played twice this match kind of makes me uneasy. I'm guessing SKT is going to bolster their zerg line-up and send them out on that map, but i have only so much faith in SKT's zerg line-up. T_T
The way I see it, SKT chose NCR because every other team during the playoffs has chosen Outlier. Now you're fooling yourself if you think Flash wasn't preparing something for that map so that he could be sent out during the Grand Finals had that map been chosen as the repeat. Now with NCR being thrown in, had KT expect Outlier, they are now at a disadvantage.
2 of the 3 potential Aces for SKT are NCR-ready and KT's main ace is not and he will either have to come up with something brilliant (which is possible) or they will have to said Stats.
Sending Stats, in my opinion, would be the better answer in my opinion because SKT hasn't sent Fantasy on NCR yet and to be honest, as an SKT fan, I'm a litter nervous with a Bisu or Best vs a NRC-ready Stats, or a vs NCR-ready protoss in general -_-;;
For SKT, get Bisu ready for a vP on NCR. Best could be sent but every team has a true ace and as much as I respect Best and Fantasy as reliable players, Bisu is their true Ace.
And to the person who suggested Flash vs Bisu on sniper ridge......................................................................... That would be the worst....
Yup. SKT got a chance if this doesn't go to ACE MATCH since Flash is so damn scary when handling pressure while SKT players... well choke a little too much (I guess Fantasy and Soo being the only exceptions). I predict SKT 4-1 or 4-2
Stats<soo Flash>By. Sun Wooki<Fantasy Action<Bisu Hoejja>Best
I don't know who for sixth map but I expect a mirror
It seems unlikely to me that KT fields anyone but Flash in the ace match of the finals, but I would have said the same thing about ace match KTvSamsung d1. If Flash comes out first I think it's a big tip of their hand to SKT that Flash is going to play the ace match.
I agree that the imbalance of PL regular season finish is way too high. Getting seeded directly into finals is insane, let alone getting seeded into finals and they get to pick 2 maps! I'm not just saying this because I'm a KT fan, KT benefitted from the seed into finals 2 years ago and I disagreed with it then. PL needs to do a more traditional playoff. They can keep the higher seed gets to pick ace match if they force all the teams to play the same number of games. That way there is no doubt that finishing well is rewarding, but at the same time doesn't give the 1st place team a ~55% chance to win the finals.
Or they could do map selection as the starleagues do. Give the top team a thumbs-down vote for a map so it doesn't come out twice. I do believe that was the old system anyway. Giving a team choice for ace match map just diminishes the fun.
A TvT on Neo Chain reaction might be the most ridiculous game ever, you can practically start sieging the other person's main and natural from any direction
I for one think that if Best wins his game SKT will have a very good chance of winning, his vZ's been ridiculously good this season, he's had a better record than Bisu. If he can pull out a win, be it against the main line of KT or against KT zergs, that would be huge. If Bisu and Fantasy aren't matched up against the main line of KT they will likely win, and even if they do it's still at least evenly spread. Best winning would be critical to ending the game before ACE or pushing it to ACE where SKT has had time to prepare for a strategy on Neo Chain Reaction for almost a month.
On March 26 2012 14:25 Scarecrow wrote: Such a stupid system, the ace match should be arbitrary instead of one team picking such a terrible map.
Then, what's the point of getting a higher place during the regular season?
You get to rest and prepare builds for 1 team only. They just made a large advantage huge
Actually they start by preparing for 3, then 2, then 1. Technically, the time the two teams spend preparing for each other with 100% confidence is the same.
I would say KT actually has an advantage because they have more exposure to the maps during playoff time which could be different from the regular season.
Bisu > CH, Fanta > Action, Sun < Stats, Best < Flash Soo < Hoejja Hyuk > Mind Fanta < Flash
And the winner is.......... KT!! (again, meh)
What if Soo actually beats Hoejja ? Think about it. SKT wins but we are denied an epic FvF grand finals ace match. Everything depends on two scrub zergs + Show Spoiler +
(ok Hoejja owns during those playoffs, but that does not clear his 30% ZvZ and ZvT record from '08 to '11)
fighting in a matchup dictated by build order wins.
Given Mind's super-slump and who KT decided to send out during the playoffs so far, I'd be more inclined to replace Mind with Wooki in that potential lineup list.

The outcome of the finals is indeed largely determined by coin-flip ZvZ(s) just like last year.
I want to see Hyuk rip through CH, cause I don't like CH. Fantasy vs Flash Bisu vs Reach Stats vs S2/Soo Action vs Princess KT winning 4-3 Reach taking ACE Holy crap, I'm a scout
Hello guys. I'm glad to finally join tl. I play sc2 mostly but interested in broodwar. I know it is the playoffs already. Cay I ask about the teams playing and what the situation is. I know some players like Fantasy, bisu, and Flash, but if someone could provide a "catch-up" on this so I can appreciate it better. Also when is the next round? March 31?

Welcome to TL! :D
Currently the SK Planet Proleague 2011-2012 regular season is already over. We started the playoffs a couple of weeks ago, and KT Rolster has fought through CJ Entus and Samsung KHAN to its 3rd consecutive finals, where it faces the seeded team SK Telecom T1 (the best team ever, btw). It's good that you already know Fantasy, Bisu, and Flash, as they are the key players for their respective teams. Also important are Stats (KT) and BeSt (SKT), and the many many KT/SKT zergs.
The finals will take place on April 8th, at 6PM KST. They'll be Bo7 with ace match.

Thanks Kiett. This is most welcoming, and informative. I've seen a few games of Flash and fantasy through YT (keyword: broodwar) I think I have to watch some more to warm up on the professional broodwar games. Is there an organized archive of recent games? Preferably the playoffs? Sorry for the bother and thanks again.

If you want to watch the latest playoffs comentated in english go here ---> http://www.youtube.com/saylebw (he has casted every game of the last proleague) If you would rather listen to korean comentators, follow the links on the above post. I also started watching broodwar recently and trust me, its worth it and so good. btw, the next match, the finals is on April 8th on korean, meaning either late at night April 7 or very early Arpil 8th for westerners (is this correct?)

Yeah its really depressing that Mind is doing so terribly, Wooki would be an ample replacement... And yes, we need Reach in this - Mantoss for ace match!!!

Man I really hope they play Reach, most retiring players gets a farewell game, and wouldnt it be fitting for a player of Reach's status to get his farewell game in the PL finals.
