Post-match interview with Park Sung Jun (JulyZerg) after his 3-2 win over Goodfriend. Translated from FiFo.
-What are your feelings after having won your second Starleague?
It feels good that I won (understatement of the year -_-;; ). I love the fact that I beat a Terran player to do this. All this time the Zerg users have been losing to Terran. However this time, I broke the curse. I am happy not only because I have become the champion twice, but also set several new records.
-You had to fight very hard for the 5th game.
When my formation was broken in the middle I thought I would certainly lose. I think I won because I was able to cut off any of the opponent's additional units effectively. Therefore I was able to fight off the final attack.
-You lost the fourth game.
I lost even though I knew what his plans were. I should have built at least a Sunken Colony in my base but I was too occupied with controlling Zerglings.
-Your thoughts on the first game?
Looking at the situation I was so far ahead that I couldn’t lose. However the mutalisk control really wasn’t working out. Even when I made guardians they died hopelessly, and I felt it was so absurd that I had lost that way. After the first game I felt angered. The second game on the other hand I was able to win because the opponent bunker rushed. In fact I went a two hatch build to defend against any bunker rushes from the start. Also I thought that he would have seen me use burrow but he wasn’t aware after all. I won because I was able to fight off the first batch of units.
-Which players helped you the most?
Sync, 박민현, Lee Yoon Jae, Xellos, 진영수, Casy, Cloud, 안상훈, Boxer, Iris and others helped me prepare. Yesterday I talked a lot with Boxer. He said to prevent the opponent from scouting in game 1. Yesterday there was no one to practice with so I went to bed early. (dont know nicks of these guys left above)
-During your arrival what were you saying to Goodfriend?
I said not to encourage the fans too much during our entrance. It would’ve been so strange if we waved so we both made a pact not to do this (laughs).
-Being a winner twice, it wouldn’t be so wrong to ask for a pay rise.
I’m still willing to accept whatever they offer. I doubt they will give me a raise even if I negotiate. When they decide on this matter I will decide then whether or not I am satisfied.
-You will be taking college entrance examinations after the games?
The exams are to take place on the 3rd of August. I have nothing useful in my head so it’s a little worrying. (Laughs).
-On the fact that it was very hot inside the gaming booths.
The environment was very bad. Especially during game 1 and 2 there was no time to cool myself off and I found it very hard to cope. It was difficult to concentrate because of the heat- I was sweating all over just by sitting down.
-How did you feel playing Goodfriend as your opponent?
He really surprises me, continuing on from last season. I was watching the replay of game 4 and he even attempted a 6 rax. I think his mindset today overall was to go for quick victories. Having thought of this, I feel I got very lucky in game 2.
-You were both defeated and victorious with mutalisks.
I played so foolishly during game 1 with them. I was relieved that they listened to me a lot more in game 5.
-The support from Zerg users are immense.
I love all the support I get from the Zerg players. Next OSL not only will I try for a hat-trick, I will also attempt to break the OSL winner’s curse.
-We’re curious as to what your coach said to you during the match.
He told me not to get nervous. Also Pusan told me that he would call me insulting names if I were to lose the second game. It’s his special method of ‘encouragement’ (laughs)
-What do you want to do right now, having won the game?
I want to take a shower very soon. I’m all sweaty.
-It’s a little outward but we have to ask; are you thinking of losing weight? (hahaha ^^;; )
I’m planning to. I’m planning to study and exercise in the morning and practice in the evening.
-Seems you will be on top of the rankings for some time.
I strongly want to defend my position at the top in pro-gaming so I didn’t want to lose today. I wish to maintain my position and I have a reputation to keep up, being ranked first, so I kept saying to myself that I must win today. My aim is to defend my position for a year, and I will try my hardest in order to do so.
-Final words for your fans?
Thank you so much for coming all the way to Ilsan. Today the games were very tight, and in the next competition I will build on my weaknesses and show you stronger plays.

When the 5th game is about to be finished.. when GoodFriend is about to type GG.. he was so desperate and hopeless T.T He was holding his mouth and tried so hard not to cry.

I don't care what you hippies say, Zerg is gay and July must lose...HE MUST LOSE!! -_- I was really pulling for GF too... I wish I could say it was close, but July played like he was drunk in game 1. Free win for GF.
I don't know why he didn't try to play a macro style vs July...it worked against GoRush.

If it were any other T, I'd probably have been pulling for them too.
Game 5 was amazing. I been in situations like that and when I don't have enough mutalisk I always lose due to the power of mmf+tanks. It was simply incredible what he could do with a few mutalisk. GoodFriend had July in Game 5 when his tanks were destroying his sunkens, but he pulled back to regroup. BIG MISTAKE! I can see why he cried. It will haunt him for the rest of his life because he will remember what could have happened if he continued to push then would become the 2005 OSL champion. Maybe next time!

GF was over-cautious late in the game probably becoz of an earlier mistake at around 9min. at the time GF had decimated the sunkens with siege tank and had around 20m&m, so he decided to rush through the remaining defense. But sunken+muta killed off the entire force. later he pulled back his force to regroup becoz he thought his 8-10m&m from the base wont be enough to convoy the 2 tanks all the way up. And he knew July's overlord saw the move of his reinforcement every time.
