I think it will be good for SC2 fans who haven't discovered the full extent of the BW scene (such as me) to see some of the biggest stars BW has to offer. I also think it will be good for the BW stars to be exposed to the explosive fandom the United States has to offer (because, as I understand it, Korean BW players never compete in foreign tournaments.
Exhibition matches aren't the same, they won't be in the actual tournament and do you think KESPA will allow it?

I think this is going to be really interesting to see. All of these players with a very vocal fanbase coming over and really being exposed to that - I'm excited to watch their reactions to that.

THIS IS HORRIBLE!
Why does Blizzcon have to sell out so fast?! T_T
It sells out like .05 seconds after they go on sale, and THEN It's like "oh btw NesTea and MVP playing" "oh btw, GSL October finals" "oh btw, Bisu, Jaedong, Jangbi, Fantasy"
....I'm so sad.

Sweet I really hope to watch them play some sc2!!! :D

Its to be expected in the sc2 community though, the bandwagoning that goes on is hilarious.

tbh i think this "move" to invite S-class players(some of current best, whateva) is quite skillfull move by Blizzard, it speaks to me "Look BW Pros SC2 is that big in foreigner lands come join us" But thats just my perspective, as i dont know the details i may be quite mistaken. However there was no big party year ago when sc2 came, there was only GRRR.... playing some showmatch in Korea etc. So for me it has this ring to it.

Anyone thought maybe they were just invited to attend?
You know, as guests?
Or did it specifically say otherwise?
I doubt Blizzard would force them to play some matches.

There was no competition. Idra, Tyler and Ret (only started following BW in late 2008-2009 Flash vs Movie OSL run) could even be considered B-Teamers in BW. And they were the best foreigners.
Basically Idra was the equivalent of a SC2 Code B player you had never heard of before. Those were the best foreigners. An the tournaments, well TSL2 had the biggest prize pool for foreigners and it was 10 000$ for first place.

They play the WCG outside Korea. They travel for that. There were also some finals played in China.
To those asking why no Flash....wtf he has a giant cut in his arm....He is probably resting as much as he can and will soon start rehab....why would he go there in his current state?
To those saying they sure have played the game in their free time...wrong. A few of them have stated that they havent played the game and have no intention to do it because they dont have that much free time and when they have, they wont be spending it playing SC even if its the 2nd.
They will probably off race or play some 2v2s idk. Or even just some BW showmatches. Kespa probably doesnt want them to be showing SC2...the amount of speculation after that would probably hurt all their efforts to bring new sponsors and fresh money to BW.
|
I think Blizzard has decided it's in their best interests to play nice with the BW scene. I wonder if they actually did sponsor the "Dream Team" like some people on TL were speculating. That'd be....surprising. But smart of them. If they start being nice to and supportive of BW, KeSPA might soften on SC2, and that'd be a big win for both games.
|
Wow this is completely unexpected. I don't think I've ever wanted to attend a Blizzcon so much @_@
|
I dont want to throw hard speculation but who really knows to what trades Kespa and Blizzard came to? Maybe its some "exchange program" like introducing Top pros to sc2 scene while Blizzard giving hidden support for BW scene. Imho Blizzard openly sponsoring Korean BW would be actually bad marketing for them in terms of SC2 only. ("what? They are sponsoring 11 y game instead of their new brand one? It means SC2 sucks!"etc)
edit: Agree with Ribbon

I hope they will play some SCBW games, if they play SC2 I dont think im gonna watch those (despite I follow SC2 scene a little)
But the real reason behind those invitation is to attract Korean viewer and got those progamer opinion on HOTS (Which really need a lot of SCBW spirit)
