My favourite builds and stuff i like seeing Flash do: - Strong FD into some massive contain into making the protoss look like a scrub. - 14CC into 3 rax+Valkyrie (quite possibly anything is good) - Anything incorporating dropships full of marines dropped ontop of a hatchery with alot of drones - Killing 4 Protoss bases at once while having a huge mass of tanks in their main base. - His godlike marine splits against lurkers

It is the original Esport, and it will forever be where gaming became more than just gaming; it became a passion, a dream, a job, a struggle, a hope, a goal, a story, a lifestyle. BW Forever. <3 T_T

Brood War is more than just a game to me; it is a way of life. Brood War has made me a smarter and more mature man, by teaching me to think outside of the box, and be overly analytical and interpretive of my surroundings. Brood War players never take anything for granted. They never take no for an answer. They never surrender to failure. They can not be stopped. There is a distinct characteristic about Brood War players. Whether it ranges from our obsessively-high Actions Per Minute, which no other game can even come close to reaching, or whether it ranges from our ability to turn a simple game of collecting minerals and fighting armies into one of the most beautiful and sound strategical war games ever developed on this planet. The fact that as players, spectators and fans, we have all caused probabilities to almost go out the window, and professionals have the exact mineral count and drone count down to the wire in the 25 minute mark in a game is remarkable. This game has paved the way and set the measuring stick by which every other game and competition is created and judged for today. No other game has caused the amount of hype and drama that Brood War has. No other game has caused millions of fans around the world to be able to connect with one another, despite not understanding each others languages, and communicating with words and phrases that were globally understood by communities through just a game and its respective actions. No other game has caused theory-crafting to be so in-depth, so vivid, and so perplexing in nature, that we as gamers have developed strategies in Brood War that are in many ways more advanced and tactile than any Artificial Intelligence can ever mimic, and this is due to the power of our minds ability to expand and adapt over time. Brood War is my heritage. It is my passion for gaming. It is what causes me to have a warm feeling of love and happiness every single time I see a game, ranging from the most amateur of games, to the most professional of settings. Brood War is my life. ![]()

All the other stuff is pretty cool too, but that's the main reason why I'll always hold BW in a special place.

its not so much about winning laddergames or even getting deep in a tourney. its more about watching starcraft, listening to hilarious commentary, seeing a weird but powerfull new build or just enjoying great games like most recently drg vs thorzain on antiga shipyard. but possibly the most important part are all those small .jpg, .png, and .gif files you see every day. i dont even care if its a gif of a firebathero ceremony or of moons banelings, a nostalgic picture of boxer haircuts in 2003-2006 or a screenshot of the lobby for the second game of idra vs cruncher in tsl3, reading the starcraft bible thread or wathching the picture in the programer look-alike thread. my life is better because everytime im down i can click on some random link on teamliquid, in skype or irc to get a small potion of starcraft joy imageshack.us/photo/my-images/703/chillouto.png/ http://i.imgur.com/yDklQ.png http://i.imgur.com/jfIH2.png

It's maybe because of it's simplicity, it's dedicated players or just simply because it's the game I've been playing from the time I knew what a Desktop is to owning one. Many games I have known before Brood War, and many after. But Brood War is the game that I'll always be playing. I don't know. It's kinda like taking a bath. You actually don't need to take a bath, but it feels good to take a bath.

So i put my love for Starcraft in my school work. If i can learn by myself to play a game this well, i could do whatever i want. Because starcraft was really complex. Starcraft is the reason why i speak english. I used to have an english version of the game and the storyline was difficult to catch. So i translated the whole game. Every dialogue ingame, every briefing. Hell i translated the whole manual. And online it wasn't really a french speaking fest. So i asked the player to explain it to me. I played Starcraft with a dictionnary. People tends to say video games can't do squat for a child but distract him. And that's not true (ok i might write this at work but you got the point). When life was difficult i just played. I dreamed about this game. I was thinking about strategies all the time when i was travelling back or from school. I met a lot of people online and some of them are close friends today. When i started playing Starcraft II it wasn't quite the same. The game was good but something was missing. The ultimate controls of each units and even if the hype was good... It was just not Brood War. When i watch matches online i'm sometimes screaming behind my TV (yes i watch it in my couch and not behind my computer...) "What are you doing ! " "Go back now !! " "Oh my god that's so beautiful". I sometimes rage because the player that i chear for lost. My relationship with Brood War last for more than 12 years for now. It's even longer that my longest "love relationship" (ok i'm not that old but still). Starcraft Brood War is just so full of emotion, of fun, of everything. Yeah. For me. Brood War is everything. I love it even after it will dies.
