SKT has signed new contracts with T1 staff(the leader, coach and 8 players) today.
In addition to 180,000 US$ annual salary, BoxeR could earn at most 80,000 US$ bonus, which breaks the record of NaDa last Aug (200,000 US$ annual salary). This 3-year-contract may bring his at most 780,000 totally. And according to the contract, he might receive more supplementaries due to his achievement next 2 or 3 years. Again, BoxeR climbs up to the throne of the annual salary.
Another mainnstay of T1, Oov also gets a 3-year-contract with 150,000 US$ annual salary, which triples his income last year. SKT affirms to his huge contribution to the team.
And Kingdom, the captain of Protoss in the team, signs a 3-year-contract, which ensures 300,000 US$ for him. Few weeks ago, SKT signed with GoRush, the captain of Zerg in the team, a 100,000 US$ annual contract. It's reported each captain may get at best 50,000 US$ bonus if he does well in tournaments.
According to the managers of SKT, their strategy is to give the best player the highest salary. They hope the team will achieve more in 2005.
Interview with BoxeR afterwards
Q: You just get the highest salary! Congrats!
BoxeR: In case I do very well. It's not the highest salary because some of it(refer to the bonus) is due to my performance. But I will fight for the highest.
Q: So how do you earn the highest salary?
BoxeR: The bonus has something to do with my achievement in major tournaments. No pains, no gains.
Q: You have renewed the record of annual salary in 2 years.
BoxeR: If you talk about the sum, that's true. However, I'd like to see other player get more than 200,000 US$ basic salary.
Q: This is your first long contract.
BoxeR: I always admire other players for their long contracts, "they have the stable home" I said to myself. Now after signing mine, I feel relieved as well as some heave pressure, sort of complicated sense.
Q: A few words for your fans.
BoxeR: As a progamer, I've stayed in SKT T1 for the longest time. I wish I could help my teammates. Hope you cheer for me and T1 in the future.

Haha, that's what I was thinking too. He'll be sticking around for another 3 years I guess. Starcraft gaming in 2008. Hard to imagine.

Hmm...how old is Boxer right now? I mean after the army which is 4(?) years in korea, he doesnt even have learned a job or studied sth...and the money earned by gaming dont last forever...

You have the option of doing some more civilian related work instead I think and in return it's a bit longer

I seem to remember Reach was the highest paid recently... I guess that's out-of-date now? $300'000 over 2 years or something? (obviously that's less than boxer or Nada now)
