Honestly, some of the teams were kind of awful. Khan, Oz, Fox, MBC, STX are the worst teams in the league and consolidating some of them or doing some structural changes could in fact strengthen the scene. Khan lost great and Stork is slumping and January sucks. Oz seems to be getting better with Killer stepping up but they were very poor for the entire season, excluding WL. Fox is just terminally awful. MBC lost light and I would not be surprised to see some of the others quit, assuming the team doesn't disband altogether. STX is... well, they have Bogus and that's it. BogusSTX. The remaining four teams are SKT, KT, Stars and CJ. All great teams with a lot of depth. The shitty teams need fresh blood and if teams need to merge or die to make it happen, then so be it. Quality > quantity. This message has been brought to you by the optimism squad. Noone on MBC wants to quit unless they're forced out of their jobs. I can assure you that. You've named half the league in your list of awful teams. 5 teams don't make a league. In fact PL can't even function with 6-7 teams. The only hope is for Kespa to find new sponsors for most of the potentially disbanding teams.

Actually I think January did a really good job. Khan had a terrible 09-10 season but that was when FBH and Jangbi started slumping hardcore, Stork had to carry everything and Great was never more than pretty good. She heavily banked on rookies this season and now they're looking very promising going in to the new season with Brave, Grape, TurN and Reality (and Byul maybe?) to back up Stork and maybe Jangbi. They just need a solid zerg. That is, if they actually go in to the new season

But 6 would be pushing it, I agree but I don't think it'll drop below 8. Fox and some other team will make it 8 in total and there'll surely be another big sponsor who'll pick up the potential third death. 4 great teams + 4 good teams vs. 4 great teams and 5 bad ones + ace.
Or it could all go to hell, I prefer to be positive about it.

IF they are indeed pulling sponsorship of the team, I think it's a company issue rather than the performance of the team that's influencing their decision.

if stx and fox decides to make a team together wouldn't that be better than disbanding at all

MBCGame and Samsung sound very likely, as both of them stopped supporting sc:bw in some other way (MBCGame Hero -- MBCGame shutting down, Samsung -- WCG stopped supporting sc:bw)

But it didn't work for STX and Stars. And to make up for the loss of 2 teams, Kespa had to increase the number of rounds and change the format. I'm hopeful that at least 1 team will be able to find a new sponsor. But 1 new sponsor is not enough. This is a real test for BW. If it can survive this, it will continue to grow.
Edit: Action making KT stronger is debatable. He was bad for most of the season. I think the hiring of Woongjin's former B team coach as KT's new zerg coach was the reason for Action's slight improvement and Hoejja's revival.

I hope the expansion to China will work out well for the Korean broodwar scene. This might be the only hope in this downward spiral it has been in in the past month. :-/ Btw. can anybody tell me how big the Chinese broodwar scene still is? I know they are up-and-comming in sc2, the top bar in wc3 and top tier in dota as well, but I haven't heard much of their bw scene.

Please don't be Khan.
They haven't performed terribly though. Maybe it's STX? I can't see Oz, KT, CJ disbanding.

Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rage at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way, Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height, Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray. Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

firstly nothing about MBC is confirmed and it can still be saved, and SC2 has nothing to do with this so don't you blame it for it is at a worse situation in Korea than our BW.
its easy to point fingers, but its not right.

I wonder what is going on....this isn't good for SC2 or BW....
