If Flash can't compete after his surgery, there's always room for him in SC2.

Requires a lot less APM, and is arguably much easier.

Just sayin...

You know, it's posts like this that make BW fans dislike SC2 fans. I know you're really into your game, but put yourself in our shoes. Imagine every time there was a thread about a SC2 player you really liked, some random person coming in saying "he should just switch to LoL." Turns out, that's pretty much what happens over here, be it a post game interview or a retirement announcement.

I know, here you have a marginally more legit point, since there is at least some chance that the surgery won't take and he won't be able to play BW at a high level any more. At the same time, when a large portion of the BW community has been following this story for months, fretting about whether or not one of the greatest players to ever play the game is going to be forced to retire for medical reasons, it's pretty damn insensitive to come into a thread that has the first good news about him in weeks and suggest he stop playing the game we love.

Just sayin...

stop beeing a drama queen... really

It has nothing to do with being a drama queen next time i see a sc2 player for what ever reasons retire i am going to go OH LOL He is going to LoL after all he can earn his money now in lol sucks to be a sc2 fan though since your players now are now changing games ? I think i am going to do that now from now on fight fire with fire . Wait let me change lol to Dota 2 after all it has going bigger in terms of fan base when it releases ^^.

I wish Flash a speedy recovery and hope he can remain the god of Brood War.

But I'm worried. There is this nagging concern in the back of my mind that, even if nothing goes wrong, he won't be the Elder God the scene knows and loves when he comes back.

Probably unfounded. He needs the surgery. I will be glad when 2012 comes and my worries are proven silly.

This is hardly bad news, as CTS surgery is routine and rarely has complications. This may give him years more of play. Terminator fighting!

Well it's good that Flash is having his problem fixed before it got too out of hand. Glad he's not retiring. It's too bad he won't be around to play in the last MSL. Would have been a fitting way to end it all, with Flash becoming the only player to ever win a 4th MSL.

This is wonderful news, but the surgery i'm sure isn't 100%. I hope whoever performs it really knows his stuff..

Well, I think all top BW-players could use a months vacation.

If the surgery works out well, it could be something for TLO or Thorzain to consider as well since they have similar issues.

Flash just need to get an oil change and other mechanical complications sorted out, this is just a cover up!

But in all seriousness, Carpel Tunnel is pretty painful if it gets bad, good thing he's getting surgery to prolong his throne <3

I apologize in bringing SC2 into the BW forums but I was wondering if it was possible for TLO himself to take this surgery as well? Since he does have Carpel Tunnel himself.

CTS surgery usually isn't really an option unless the person still has consistent pain and discomfort for a while, usually a few months. Surgery is usually a good option however for someone like Flash, who probably has CTS pretty severely, because the surgery itself is generally very effective. The reason it is considered a last option however is because a lot of people can have a CTS flair up where they can return to normal in up to a week or so if they just do some basic relaxation and stretches before use of the wrists. But when the nerve is unable to be relieved through non-surgical practices and still causes heavy discomfort and pain for an extended series of weeks then it is probably best to just get surgery.

Best of luck to Flash. hope he has a very speedy recovery!
Live it up.

This is bad. Carpal Tunnel surgery takes a long time to recover from, and is usually a temporary solution at best

Wow this is a relief, Flash isn't retiring! Hopefully the surgery doesn't screw up his play so he can get back to pwning asap!
