This is coming from my interpretation that anyone with BW mechanics could carry over to SC2 and succeed.

Most bw players who want to switch already have so when a bw progamer announces his retirement that usually means from progaming itself. Also, nobody ever said that switching to sc2 is bad. Whats bad is when sc2 fans keep wishing that bw players will switch so that they will liven up their scene. Make ur own heroes.

I don't think that progamers are retiring at a faster rate now than in the past, but that's just a feeling. It's always sad to lose a player. I was never a big Really fan, but I watched a bunch of his games and rooted for him often. I hope there's a good post-progaming future ahead of him.

I can remember when Really said he almost retired when eStro disbanded.
I guess he never found the motivation to be as good as before, hence his poor results after joining W.Stars.

There's 150+ progamers, so retirements will occasional occur. Most players start playing professionally between 16-19, and careers start to unwind by 22-24. With such a small timeframe to be a top player, retirements are common. Are they more common than before SC2? I'm not sure. Besides Effort, a player hasn't retired when they are a top 15 player. When we start to see top 15 players leaving, then I'd worry.

Always a shame when a solid brood war progamer retires. As I never really rooted for him before I wouldn't mind if he switched to SC2, but I just get the feeling he's done with progaming period. There's no need to cry about the downfall of brood war just because of 1 retirement though. MBCgame shutting down is a threat to e-sports, an average terran player retiring in the twilight of his career is not.

Well if he was going to retire, now was the time to do it. The PL season is over and he had dropped out of his MST group. I will always remember Really as the man who broke Flash's incredible TvT streak. I wish him the best of luck in whatever he chooses to do next.
