SK Telecom coaches, iloveoov and Dr. K will be joining the military after the Shanghai finals. iloveoov, who is married and has a kid will be joining the military as a full time reserve force, and Dr. K will be joining as an public official.
This gives SK Telecom more reason to win, and due to this, the coaches have been trying extra hard to rally the players
The next year will be the TRUE test of Fantasy, I want him to prove himself to be much more then Oov's puppet so that he can finally shake off all the haters.
Things are looking grim for SKT1 after the PL finals D:, oov being gone will surely hurt the players morale a bit. Hopefully this will motivate them to destroy in Shanghai though

iloveoov gone, what will fantasy do now?
my thought exactly! SKT1 was built by boxeR and iloveoov.... 2 gone, skt1 will have a hard time. Pretty sure the fantasy > stork final was mainly credited to iloveoov metagame @_@
I guess full-time reserve means that he will have to report in for duty/work, but will live at home and not at a barracks? The idea of a full-time reserve is strange to me seeing as the reserve for the US Army is usually 1 weekend a month for training or something. It'll be interesting to see how SKT1 replaces iloveoov and DoctorK and it'll be really interesting to see how fantasy does without oov.
SKT without Oov, BoxeR and Dr.K (Coach, Father-Hyung, Captain) just won't feel the same. I hope the players will be able to keep themselves motivated and can step up.
I'm hoping to see oov be active around ACE however.

Main coach and Protoss coach both joining the military at the same time ? That sucks How are the players going to find good builds without oov. He wasn't only crafting builds for Fantasy, but also for Bisu. Damn.

Fantasy was pretty clear about the fact that he crafted all the builds for that final. Oov's position was mainly that of a mentor/supervisor, as it has been for years.
I do expect this to have a significant impact on SKT, though.

I like KT honestly but this should really go to SKT for this reason alone.
KT has pretty big motivation to win too you know...

Yeah, I hope Violet can be declared to be in remission and can go back to doing what he loves. :D
AAAAHhhh, really, it is ALL in the coaching! How you think Fantasy reach finals eh? Allright, I WILL write that analysis of Fantasy Jaedong OSL Finals; each thing Fantasy does is PERFECTLY planned, it's amazing, it's all OOV
Ya really SK T1 gonna suck next season, hope they make up for it this finals (:

Still, kind of strange that both decided at the same time to take on their duty. I hope there isn't anything going on behind closed doors.
Uhh, I think you're confusing Kingdom with Dr. K.
Well, this is gonna happen anyway. SKT is gonna pwn the shit in the finals for those two!!! ^^
However, I am expecting that with two big figures leaving, the mood might be down and SKT is gonna suck next season. I think this happened when Boxer went to ACE? (correct me if I'm wrong)

Well it has to happen sometime in Korea, best of luck to them!
Actually I had thought he was ineligible after going so long and not going into the military (also considering his injury).
maybe you're confusing him with kingdom? (fucked his shoulder really badly)
Nah, maybe I misunderstood the severity of the injury but iloveoov slipped in the shower and hurt his wrist iirc and retired for the most part shortly after. Always assumed that was an issue if he was delaying it this long, especially if he was delaying it until after he got married. I guess it may explain why he is "full-time reserve" and not an active serviceman (this is if I'm understanding the term correctly).
Sad news indeed, but next season will start a new era for SKT. I will call this era the dark ages. As SKT will start to dominate the scene so much that no other team will be in competition in the proleague. SKT IMBA!
ugh, SKT's gonna be losing some pretty brilliant coaches, but I think that they should be able to manage somewhat without oov/Dr. K. I mean, they still have Coach Park, who's just a total baller.

He won't join ace. He isn't an active player any more, and he is no going into the airforce. I don't know if his hand would allow him too anyway (and I don't think he could fit into the cock pit).
As others have mentioned, Fantasy has a lot to prove next season. On the larger, it'll be worthy to watch whether SKT can continue up their dominance - especially now that both of their masterminds (BoxeR and iloveoov) are gone from the bench.
What is the oldest age you have to begin fulfilling your military service before you get in trouble with the law? NaDa is only a bit younger than oov and he still has not been in the military.
edit: To answer my own question, it appears that you must begin service before you are 30.
Really really, really sad news to hear about oov and Dr. K needing to leave Skt1 for military service. It has to be done, and they have already had the luxury of gaming full-time for the past 6+ years without interruption by military service. While Fantasy Bisu and Best are the most prominent players on SKT1 affected by this move, the impact upon the up and coming Protoss Line (Paralyze and Rain/Sun) and the developing Terran Line (Ssak, JYJ). SKT1 race coaches were always considered the best (except the when MuMyung was Z-line coach).

what are you talking about
Fantasy went 2-0 v Jaedong including Ace Match of 08-09 Proleague Grand Finals. Fantasy then proceeded to pick up his second consecutive silver in the OSL by losing to Jaedong`s 4 pool on Return of the King in the Ace Match of the Bacchus OSL. **Warning, Jin Air OSL Spoilers below**
Release is saying that Fantasy`s current run in the OSL might lead to another silver IF he does well at the finals and possibly beats Flash and that is why he is worried. Fantasy beating Flash in Ace match of PL Finals would be a repeat of the 08-09 Finals v Jaedong where Fantasy was clutch in PL and then stumbled at the finals of the OSL.
oov & Dr.K D= I wish you two the best of luck in the army I always thought oov was exempted oh well SKT1 will be needing new coaches, and Fantasy, well needs to show us what hes got
Iloveoov is just a coach people I guess in starcraft coaches have a bigger impact than in others because your coach actually plays against you and still plays amatuarly.

Wouldn't it be better to kind of stagger the military times for them? Having both K and oov go to the military at the same time seems like asking for trouble in SKT :l
Oov's probably not qualified for the Air Forces because he's old, has injury records and has a family with a child. It's more likely that his military service is as a public interest service personnel or something else. Because of his conditions, his military service probably isn't as harsh and he can still stay at home, so it's possible he can still make builds and coach a bit if he wants to, although it'd be hard.

not necessarily. they have a solid veteran line up. its just gonna be up to the players to buckle down. just cause daddy's gone doesnt mean the kids can do whatever they want now. if he's that big of an inspiration to them, they wont soon forget his teachings.
This makes me sad . Hopefully the team veterans will keep it together and continue with their PL dominance...someone mentioned that South Koreans have to serve by the time they turn 30? Is this true and if so what does this mean for guys like NaDa?
