I have been trying to collect StarCraft sounds in different languages for some time now. I have Spanish, English, and German and am trying to get more. If you have any others including Brood War sounds please PM me.
Installation: 1. Download file. 2. Extract. 3. Put in your Brood War directory.
Sounds - English Sounds - German Sounds - Spanish
To extract your own sounds: 1. Download tool (linked below). 2. It will extract your sounds to a folder named "Sound". Brood War Sound Extraction Utility

Question: If i have English sounds, and extract this files in my Bw directory, lets say spanish... im fucked up? i will have it in spanish until i download english sounds and put them?, or is there an icon to play Each sound version game....
|
How about make a backup of your current sounds, and THEN replace them?
|
you can reinstall stacraft...
|
just rename the folder "sound" to e.g. "spanish" and you have your english sounds again.

if you extract, brood war automaticly uses sounds in sound folder?
if so I (as terran) can replace the lurker burrow sound by a alarming BEEP BEEP
w00t tvz easy !

I would like to update the links to the different sounds. Currently I am playing with Japanese and English sounds and I love it but I have also tried the French sounds in the past (lol at the firebat). I still have to check Spanish, Italian and the non-official Russian versions though.

Still missing a link to the German sounds and somebody mentioned that there are also Korean sounds but I have never seen them. Please share if you have anything to add.
If you have any other language version, e.g. Portugese, please use the Sound Utilities to extract your sounds:

You're a hero. Do these include BroodWar unit sounds?

I haven't tried them all but they should include the BW sounds as well except for the Japanese version.

ARGH I got my buddy from japan on msn right now, but the sound utility file link is wrong!!

Try this link instead: http://ftp.blizzard.com/pub/broodwar/SOUNDS/BWSoundUtility.zip
It should work! I am uploading the German sounds right now and will have them available in a few moments.
|
yeah I found that link too, unfortunately (not sure if it is lost in translation) but he says there is only sc version in japanese and the bw sounds don't exist o_O
maybe he means he only has the japanese sc cd though.
On a completely different note, I also found out that he was in IEF!! http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=104061 Name is Nazomen O_O!!
|
That's what I heard too. There is a Japanese SC but not a Japanese BW. Still, I love the Japanese sounds. ^_^ I wonder what kind of voice the medic would have gotten in Japanese...
|
so, it's a shame there are not more language options for the sounds in bw. i wonder about sc2.
it'd be great to play bw in swedish. what about dutch? or arabic?
everyone would want to try it in korean, i'm sure.

I have the japanese soundset if anyone is interested, drop me a PM.
It's a megaupload link iirc, should be still valid (it's in my ICCup acc. description so I can dig it up for ya in 15 seconds if you need it )
It is indeed SC only, so BW units will still have their original sound.
P.s.: KawaiiRice should have this pack too (his stream is what got me interested in getting the soundset), so if you know him you might ask him just as well

Can anyone find the japanese sounds?

Hi there guys.
I have the Brazilian portuguese sounds. If someone is interested in me uploading it, I could reinstall the pt-br version and extract the sounds, just point me to where I should upload.
(And BTW, I never knew the game actually used the folders when they were extracted, I always though that they were there just to get the .wavs from the mpq).
|
that would be pretty sweet julealgon
just upload to megaupload or something
|
wtf OP ones are dead links :S
that or hacked site
|
Italian SC sounds are my favourite so far. I've only listened to them as Protoss, but it's fucking badass. Every Zealot sounds like he's motherfucking Leonidas. + Show Spoiler +Yes, I know Spartans weren't Italian, but they're just that badass.

Yes please!!! That would be so great. You can use megaupload or massmirror or zshare for uploading the sounds.
So far we have quite a nice collection, don't you think? :D

Ehmm, I don't have a sound folder, what is the exact index path to it?
|
On December 17 2009 23:17 Intr3pid wrote: Ehmm, I don't have a sound folder, what is the exact index path to it? You need to extract the folders from the .mpq file, using the tool provided by blizzard themselves in this link: http://ftp.blizzard.com/pub/broodwar/SOUNDS/BWSoundUtility.zip
This one is for Broodwar only, but you can go to the battle.net site and get the other one if you wish. The tool will extract everything to the installation path of starcraft.
|
I used both Utilities, still no Sound folder. I bought SC/BW in the Blizzard Shop and downloaded the install file, so that's probably the reason it doesn't work. Too bad :/

Which language do you have installed and which language are your sounds in? Have you downloaded a different language version and put the Sound folder in your sc directory? Did it work?
I guess the downloadable sc version is kind of different but the sounds must be stored somewhere either way.
|
I have installed it in english, and I wanted to try out the german and the japanese versions. I just have a 600mb mpq file, but no Sound folder and the utilities didn't do anything. Guess I'll find out if I can just download different language installations, thanks for the hint.

Initially when you install sc with the regular discs you don't have a sound folder. Only after extracting it with the utility, a new folder appears. So, you can still try to download a different sound pack and simply put the "Sound" folder in your sc directory. If that doesn't work then you probably cannot change your sounds. =O
|
Yeah I got it to work, thx mate
|
Alright, all links are working fully but I still haven't seen any Portuguese/Brazilian yet. Who has these sounds?
|
Anyone have mirrors for the German and Spanish sound packs?
The links in the OP seem to be dead.
|
Ok guys, I promissed a long time ago to extract the PT-BR sounds, so I will do that and upload in a few minutes and edit this post.
|
aw man are there like language mods that are better than english? as in sounds cause like in sonic 2 battle, japanese voices sounded so much better than the eng ones
also how come there isn't really a korean language mod?
|
Ok, since Nal_rAwr posted after me, instead of editing I will reply here. The sounds are only from Starcraft, they did not translate BroodWar here.
Here is the download link: [url blocked]

It deeply frustrates me to hear the Brazilian translators mistake "Wraith" with "right". It's just disgusting.
"Right! Waiting launch orders" instead of "Wraith waiting lauch orders."
And the even worse one from the vulture:
"Alright! Bring it on!" to what would translate to English again as "Everything ok, bring this here." since the expression means nothing in Portuguese.

I don't have the Spanish one, but I posted the German sound pack in this thread. Let me know if the links don't work any more.

wait why did they make japanese sounds but no korean sounds
|
maybe koreans prefer english language in their games all the time
in the korean maplestory, they actually named the monsters so they can be translated into real english words
|
|
lol i luve the japanese sounds vult sounds like he obeys the rules XD
|
Does any have the Italian sound pack handy? The site that the link leads to has changed and no longer leads to the right place. If someone could reupload or extract their Italian sounds to share I would be most grateful.

They still dont have Korean =(

Yeah, I find that quite strange.

Damn I wanted to hear russian battlecruiser so badly. But I can't find the download at the given link .
|
|
In progames and other Starcraft related shows(Hyung Joon becomes a progamer, etc) I've always seen them playing the English version of the game as well. Didn't they not make a a Korean SC/BW? If that is correct, then that is why you have no Korean language pack.
|
Could you upload a mirror somewhere? It says the download is missing after I do the 1 min wait for free users.
If someone had Italian I still would like those too
