Good news, and in true Ultimate Weapon-status... he can be repaired. He will be stronger, faster, better.

Wonder how he did it... Shoulder problems like that shouldn't develop from gaming.

It's a wrist problem.

Though shoulder problems also can come from gaming (Boxer had some right at the end of his BW career).

It's a little insane that they're letting him play with a serious injury, though. What if they do further damage to his arm!? Maybe it's not that that serious, but I can't imagine Flash's doctor okayed playing with a hurt arm when playing was what hurt his arm in the first place. He should go on hiatus, heal properly, and then come back when he's ready.

I cannot resist:

And guess who's in first place in Proleague? see sig

But really, I do hope Flash recovers, it would actually be terrible for eSports if the most dominating player of all is forced out due to health reasons.

I see some problems with working hours/conditions for these korean gamers, it's like they are being taken advantage of because they are kids and healthy at the beginning. I wonder how many gamers end up like Flash after a few years, and really... how many can afford being treated by the best medical team -- as in Flash's case.

Flash has been the reason I play Terran and the reason I love starcraft. Seeing him hurt is a terrible feeling. I'm hopeful some time off and therapy will get him better again. I also think it's awful they made him play with pain killers... obviously that's going to screw up his play

sounds like they are doing this quick treatment to get him ready for the upcoming OSL, which could be his final shot at passing NaDa the way this is looking

Hopefully KesPa will take this as a warning to give proper monitoring/medical care benefit to the progamers.

Recent injuries of such amazing players as Flash and TLO are very deeply saddening, and make me review the whole premise of esports. I think we have a unique situation - a cultural phenomenon has risen of enormous importance in many people's lives, yet, it was never designed as such.

What I mean is: we play with keyboard and mouse. These input devices were not designed to be used in the intensive way we use them for gaming. And it's not just a kid's hobby anymore, it has become a serious sport that pushes to the limits of the human being.

So, it's probably time to think about redesigning the input devices for gaming, so that they do not cause injuries even after many years of dedicated effort. I know some would think this to be an exaggeration, but I expect at some point people to consider this issue.

This is not just an issue for gaming. Many office workers and other frequent computer users get RSI (and other less frequent injuries) from usage of mouse and keyboard. People have tried to come up with better alternatives. See for instance ergonomic keyboards and trackballs. However in the end we haven't been able to find as effective input methods that do not cause injury with about the same frequency. Good posture, frequent breaks, etc. minimizes the risk, but does not eliminate it. If the input device industry has not been able to provide a good alternative to the hundreds of millions of workers using keyboard and mouse in their day job, then I doubt that pressure from a comparatively very small industry such as e-sports will have any luck. People have considered the issue and continue to do so. Partial solutions have been found, but no real good one. A few starcraft players getting injuries is not going to register on their radar.

I think the best solution is to regularly check the condition of progamers and also to make sure that they follow good practices when it comes to mouse and keyboard usage. It is nice that kt seems to be giving flash a break, but I wonder if this whole thing could have been preempted if they had taken it more seriously and worried about Flash's health over proleague record when symptoms first started showing up. It obviously must be hard for kt to tell flash to sit a couple of matches out while getting dominated in proleague. It would probably be even harder for Flash himself to decide that he needs a break rather than practice 24/7 for that OSL/MSL final coming up vs Jaedong. However it would probably have been in both kt and flash's interest to have restricted his practice and eliminated him from at least non-essential matches.

I really doubt it. Jaedong and Flash have been reported to be on friendly terms with eachother. I doubt Jaedong, or any progamer really, wants it to end like this. This is a terrible way for such a skilled progamer to be possibly getting out of the scene. I wouldn't have minded so much if a new genius presented himself, or if Jaedong/Stork/Bisu started dominating everyone and forced Flash to assume a position of just a good player relative to them, but at the moment everyone knows that Flash would be the best if he could continue as usual. If someone (likely Jaedong if anyone) starts dominating in the months where Flash focuses on his injury, then their reign will always be tainted somewhat by the fact that they haven't really proved themselves superior to the ultimate weapon. I'm really sad it has come to this and believe that no true starcraft fan is happy about Flash's current condition.

Flash was who got me interested in professional bw in the first place. The first pro bw match I ever saw was flash vs stork in gom classic. This better not be the last we have seen from Flash. I wish him a good (and hopefully speedy) recovery, and then he can start owning it up again. Lee Young Ho fighting!

I think KT fans will send a bunch of SCVs to repaire him, so he will get back to full health in no time.
