Damn...

Is he still on Hyungjoon? Last I checked he had a pretty big role there.

Wasn't around during his prime, but the fact that his name is well known to me is a testament to his legacy in the BW scene. But since he is apparently looking into an e-sports related career?

Hope he tries SC3 when Boxer transitions to it. ^^
MMOs kill APM. However Proleague plus BW Proscene music increase APM -> 100. 이제동 Fighting! Highest ranked Jaedong owner in FPL10 = clearly #1 Jaedong fan~! <- Keeping my sig from 2010

Would sc2 people please mind if i ask them not to pollute BW forum whenever we're talking about a BW player? Especially when it's Yellow?

Back to the topic: I'm kinda new to the scene, when I started watching, Yellow was in ACE, but he still did quite a good job at ACE, I don't wonder his peak, for my sanity. Good bye, silver king Hong Jin Ho, we'll miss you.

To be honest I hate every person who suggested he play SC2 instead. That would just be the loss of all dignity for Yellow. Boxer, an unbelievable legend, has already been brought down so low. It's not just about being able to live as a progamer, it's about being the best... You can't be the best if you purposely try to go somewhere with softer competition. That would just be too sad... I don't want to see any more legends desecrate their careers this way.

Do you even know what Boxer is doing in SC2?

Losing?
Or creating the greatest sc2 team ever...

edit: But let's not derail this thread. It's indeed sad to see Yellow retire. I for one was hoping to see him play for at least once(like reach did).

SlayerS is the greatest team? The team that has "one man team" phenomenon this badly? Rofl. He created the worst possible team with that amount of sponsorship money.

And neither of those teams won 2 back to back team leagues.... just saying.

In a sad, strange way I think it would be bad (not, evil kind of bad, but popularity kind of bad) for BW if Yellow decides to play SC2 professionally. Yellow was easily the most popular of the remaining legends, and still had the skills to play here and there and bag wins vs the younger generation. If he went to SC2 to join Boxer, then things would have come full circle and people might take it as an omen that SC2 is now the successor of BW. And that would be the true catalyst for the takeover (especially if HotS improves the multiplayer experience tremendously) by SC2 of BW.

Just speculating (cause the news kinda depressed me - I was hoping KT would field him and Reach next PL season).

But if Yellow joins SlayerS that would be awesome.

He's said explicitly that he's not going to play SC2, although there's a possibility for some career in the e-sports industry.

Edit: I don't quite understand the sentiment when people say it's 'sad' that he's leaving. I'd say the feeling is more like bittersweet, akin to your college graduation. You will miss all the great times, but you now have another path in life you need to walk, one which is also going to be filled with it's own challenges and rewards. It would be FAR more sad if he stayed on KT as a bench warmer for another 5 years.

At this point, sure. But sometime in the future? People change their minds. Boxer might try to convince him. Nestea might try to recruit him. Who knows? Guemchi changed his mind and went back to BW. Effort came out of retirement after some time alone. Yellow can say all he likes but the gaming blood is really strong in him

I can't believe people are still suggesting that yellow would've been better to play SC2... when Boxer moved to SC2, he said it was "regrettable, but understandable". Do you really think he would now go out and do the same thing? He dedicated his whole youth to BW, why would he do something to hurt it?(because yellow moving to SC2 would definitely move some viewership from BW to SC2)

Nothing hurts more than seeing alltime greats taking place on the bench or playing and looking like they don't belong on the field. His legacy is too big for that.

Nooooo. He has to stay involved in E-sports someway or another, whether it's SC2 or coaching or whatever, or I'll be very sad.

Depends how they retire. Some go gently into that good night and become the quiet but hardworking coach, or they get caught up in a match fixing scandal and retire to go fight dragons on various treacherous mountain tops.....

Slayers has more sponsorship than oGs and MvP combined. They are doing too little considering how much Slayers is paid. That amount under one of either oGs' or MvP's hands and we'd actually have a great team.

Anyway, I'm suggesting not to derail this thread even further with a discussion about sc2 teams.
