He said just recently that he expects to play another 5 years of SC and hasnt even played SC2. If he keeps doing well, it could well be 2-3 million dollars. If he slumps, he probably would get a million or more out of his career. And he is only 18! I believe that Flash should be getting around 500K a year right now, probably a little north of that if anything while Bisu and Jaedong are not far behind. That sounds good and all but not many people (KT team and a handful of doctors) know what the actual status of Flash's wrists are so it all depends on that for him to foresee how much he can make before he has to stop.

So hes basically saying last year he earnt $276,000. His "pocket" money given to him by his parents each month of 1 million won equates to around £564 GBP, which is $922 USD. Basically its reasonable to assume hes a millionaire.

His salary can increase as he becomes more of a veteran in BW. He is 18 now making about 250k, in 1-2 years it could increase by a significant amount especially if he becomes a free agent and other teams fight over him.

Netting 8% a year off investments is going to be 80k a year without even drawing from the main capital. 1 million in cash is definitely enough to live comfortably for a long long time. 8% is very optimistic. For example, 1900-2000 was a period of very high growth in the US and the stock market return was only around 5% per year after accounting for inflation. With safer investments like bonds, that return will likely even be lower. 2-3% inflation is what is economically healthy. Assuming 3%, $1M will only be worth $250K in today's dollars when Flash hits 65.

Also in Asia the child tends to give a very, very significant amount of his earnings to his parents for them to invest or do whatever they think is right, I am talking about pretty much all of what he earns. Obviously this won't be the case once he gets married. That's usually the case for young money making prodigies in Asia. It's a cultural thing. In an interview he pretty confirmed this by saying that he does just that and his parents give him a large amount of pocket money of course, I don't blame him especially if they supported him from day 1 since he decided to become a progamer. Those kind of parents are rare in Asia.
