Damn, look at that baller pose. Can't get any better than that.
During the 1st and 2nd rounds in the Shinhan Proleague 10-11 season, Samsung KHAN’s JangBi was slumping hard, but has sharpened his knife and returned to the Winners’ League. In the 3rd set, even though a “custom build” was used against him and he couldn’t do anything against it and lost, in the previous 1st and 2nd sets, he played entirely perfect games with force. The perfect Protoss who had advanced to the finals of the MSL 2 times has now been revived.
Q: Your thoughts on leading your team with 2 wins A: Before the 3rd round started, I had time to rest. For players who weren’t participating in the individual leagues, it was a time where you could rest for the whole period. I used that relaxation time to think and reflect upon a lot of things. It seems that that time when I thought a lot was well worth it. It’s great that we got off with a good start to Round 3.
Q: What did you think about during that time? A: I thought about why I did so badly during the 1st and 2nd rounds and told myself to do better in the 3rd and 4th rounds in Winners’ League. At that time when I was slumping, the spirit of losing over and over again had entered me, but I swore to myself, “Come on, let’s do better, let’s do better”. Since that spirit has left me, I feel really good.
Q: You had the power to go for an all-kill during your matches. A: I know, I wanted an all-kill too. If I had pulled off an all-kill, I could have cried tears of happiness (laughs). It would be great if my full potential would be shown on TV again, but in today’s 2 games it seems that it did come out. In the 3rd set, since my opponent used a build I couldn’t win against and put me in such an unfavorable position, I also had a game where I displayed bad play. However, any other Protoss who would have faced off against that build would’ve ended up the same way. I was really in a disadvantaged position. Usually there aren’t many Zergs who make more than 4 scourge in the beginning, but Calm really put his heart into making so many scourge. I tried to reverse my disadvantageous situation with Dark Templars though, but I couldn’t take down his spire. While I was fighting with his Zerglings, even though I killed some of them, there were way too many and it looked like I couldn’t break through them. Q: It seems disappointing that you couldn’t make an all-kill. A: It was regrettable that I couldn’t make an all-kill. After doing 2 kills, I played with the mindset of going towards an all-kill, but I chose the wrong build in the 3rd set. It seems that I got too full of myself which is why I lost.
Q: There are now 2 rounds of Winners’ League, what do you think of that A: It’s great news to me. Since I don’t have a lot of wins, what I couldn’t do in the 1st and 2nd rounds, I can finally do in the 3rd and 4th rounds. Of course, I have to do well in order to redeem myself.
Q: Your goal in the Winners’ League A: For now, I think that this is a good opportunity to raise the momentum I’m currently riding on. Right now I have to survive in Winners’ League in order to raise my momentum, so doing well is a must. That’s essential. I don’t really have a special goal. My goal is to just try my best and win. Q: Are you motivated by Stork’s great efforts nowadays? A: I usually don’t care what’s going on with others around me. I’m just focusing on whether or not I can do well myself. [T/N: OH, DISS] Of course I’m envious of him but aside from that, doesn’t it seem like I’m doing well too? I have to do well so that my winning record can go up. It would be good if the both of us did well.
Q: Any last words you want to say? A: A few days ago, Park Jong In from the executive office said that he would buy me some food for my sake and came to our house. At that time, I really enjoyed the meat he had brought. After being in a losing streak and then pulling off 1 win against Air Force ACE, he bought that meat for me. He’s really a great person. I want to tell him thank you. [T/N: Wanna get on a pro gamer’s good side? Buy them food and they’ll call you a good person. Buy them meat and they’ll call you a god.]
great and Reality: “We’re happy to win our first match this round”
Great: "Damn, Reality. I can't stop looking at your hair. It looks like a nice, comfy bird's nest."
On January 9th, Samsung KHAN played their first match in the 3rd round of the Shinhan Bank Proleague 10-11 season and defeated STX with a 4:2 win. After JangBi showed his strength by performing 2 kills, there was no chance that great and Reality could crack. Great had been steadily began to rack up wins in round 2, while Reality along with TurN have continued to shine in Samsung’s Terran line.
Q: Your thoughts on getting your first win in the Winners’ League A: great: Our team is usually weak on opening games, but since we were able to start this round with good feelings, I’m happy. Although we’re at 6th place in the ranking, if we continue to ride and preserve this momentum, we may be able to climb up to the top. Reality: When we lost every time to STX in the 1st and 2nd rounds we felt really depressed, but since we won today, it’s a huge relief.
Q: (To great) You were sent out to intercept Calm A: great: Since I scouted his first Overlord successfully, I felt that I could then play comfortably. I knew that my opponent was going to do a Zergling rush so I was worried about how I was going to use my Zerglings, but leaving them on both his and my side turned out to be a good choice. Q: (To great) You lost regrettably to Shuttle. A: great: I didn’t think that I was at a disadvantage. Since I had only lost 6 Mutalisks, it didn’t seem like I took that much damage, but Shuttle skillfully found an opening and rushed me. That’s why I lost.
Q: (To great) You lost your Mutalisks in vain to his Dark Archon. A: great: I sent my Mutalisks to harass his base, and seeing that he had no cannons, I thought, “Damn, I’m doing hella well right now, huh”, but then after his Dark Archon popped outta nowhere and all of my Mutalisks were killed, I was like “…wha” (laughs).
Q: (To Reality) Despite having excellent Vulture harassment, there was a point where you had a crisis when you lost the battle at the center. A: Reality: Since my opponent lost a lot of probes to my Vulture harassment, I expected that he would attack soon, but he came out a lot stronger than I thought. That’s why I was at a disadvantage. It was a relief that since my base was nearby, I could barely manage to defend myself with my reinforcements. Q: (To Reality) What do you think was the driving force behind your win? A: Reality: Keeping up the harassment and destroying the multi at 3 really saved me. If I hadn’t had done those things, I would have lost.
Q: When you practiced on the new map La Mancha, what did you think of it? A: great: It looks that it’s a map especially made to pressure Terrans like 1st place ranked Flash. That’s why it seems like a map good for Zergs. I wonder if they made it so that Zerg players can flourish a lot from it. Reality: It seems that Midas’s words were right. Since even 1 win is important, there is no chance for you to participate often. It’s really hard to make a living nowadays (laughs). This map seems impossible for even Flash. [T/N: But Flash just won on La Mancha! Well, against Ssak, so his win may not count. :S]
Q: Your goal in the Winners’ League A: great: Last season in Winners’ League, my goal was to just win the games assigned to me, but this season since a good chance has arrived, I want to get at least 2, 3, or more kills. Reality: I want to participate in the middle and fulfill my role as a sniper.
Q: Any last words you want to say? A: great: I’m really happy to win my first game in this new year, and wish all of my fans a happy new year. Next week is the MSL Round of 16, so please cheer for me. Reality: I was suddenly given notice that I was going to play a game today. Since I didn’t expect to participate today, I was really nervous, but thanks to nO.1, Stork hyung, and the coaching staff giving me a lot of advice, I was able to play well today. I really want to tell them thank you for everything they’ve done for me.
If there's any mistakes/typos, do please point them out!
Congrats to KHAN for winning against STX! Look how happy these guys are, lolz.
And YAAAAAAAAAAAAY for Jangbi reminding us that he can still pull off those sexy storms of his! 8D Go watch his games if you haven't yet, they're absolutely orgasmic.
Btw, it looks like the MBC vs. Woongjin Stars winners didn't get interviewed, so it looks like you'll have to make do with just this interview here. ><;;
On January 09 2011 21:41 mdb wrote: What is that unbeatable strategy, that jangbi is talking about? The scourges?
Yeah, probably. If I'm not mistaken and my memory serves me right, Calm did an anti-corsair build with a million scourges, then transitioned into mutalisks, hydralurkers, and then finished off Jangbi with mass hydra and cracklings. It was crazy, Calm made so many units. @___@;;
Thanks for the transltions. Calms scourge ling build may have been like a few of Storks new pvz builds. novel map tailored builds that would cease to become effective when opponents are given the opportunity to closely examine them.
On January 10 2011 00:15 LightArchon wrote: Thanks spica I watched this live and it was epic. Calm seemed to go for a mass expand + air dominance strat. What do you guys think?
Heo Yeong Moo fighting!
I'm not sure what to make of it had Jangbi not gotten caught off guard with the cloned scourge on his corsairs. Or if Jangbi's DT had taken down the spire. Calm's build does pretty much kill any sort of speedlot rush, so it was somewhat of a counter to Jangbi. OTOH it seems that protoss builds that involve drop-harass like reaver/temp would counter it, as most of the defense are stationary in front.
Besides, although Jangbi lost, he made some pimp plays, both sniping the hydra den and forced his DT into Calm's main.
Great that KHAN won but Jangbi lol "unbeatable strategy" .... next time dont try to break through 4 sunk sim city zerg defence 3 times in a row with zeal dt archon. Any good protoss would retreat after the first failed attack and not waist 2 more waves
That's like the 3rd missing stars interview in a row, what gives with fomos/these interviewers :/
thx for spoiler..., not Why?! :/
Sorry, I didn't think about its since I myself don't look at interviews for PL or any league unless I've already watched all the streams/vods I wanted to watch from that night.
I think all the teams get interviewed, it's just that the Chinese don't translate Stars as frequently as other teams. I remember that's the explanation that one of the translators gave.

Yeah, also the Korean sites didn't have their interviews up as well. Lack of staff on that day to run around and interview both teams at the same time? I dunno, but it's a shame. ><;;

Yeah I realize this has been an excuse, but this is the 3rd one in a row >_>. I can't see why they would hate on them, the consensus among even fans from other teams seems to be that Stars interviews in particular are entertaining.
On January 13 2011 10:00 evilfatsh1t wrote: i wonder what jangbi thought about his game after he watched bisu vs calm
Probably, "Bisu is imba." ;P
Then after Stork versus Jaedong yesterday he's probably thinking "Shit gotta ask Song-byung-goo how to do that."
After they get home to the practice house, he asks a triumphant Stork how exactly did he beat the #1 Zerg, with Stork shrugging and saying, "I don't know man, but if you treat me out to something good tonight, I might give ya a little hint... ;D", leading to a frustrated Jangbi walking to his room, opening up his wallet, finding no money, then clenching his fists in anger.
