Post season is over... but what's this about all this negative press regarding the proleague finals? And of course, some other things that is literally gossip level, although nowhere as good as Rekrul's gossips, since this is all third-hand over the internet gossip. But hey, it's better than nothing....
Either way, Proleague spoilers ahead. But if you haven't watched it by now, I don't see why you'd care!
The Grand(?) Finals
Apparently, SKT fans ignored the notice "The loser's fans clean up the trash". Maybe they're just not used to losing at Gwangalli. But on a more serious notice, the amount of trash left behind by the Gwangalli finals is so significant to the extent that it was featured in one of the evening news programs.
To note, the crowd was still relatively small. The 30,000 crowd at Gwangalli was reported to be the 2nd worst showing in Proleague Final history, with the worst being last year. Maybe it has to do with the giant heatwave that hit Pusan at that time.
Love is in the Air.
- Violet made a remark as he stood victorious at Gwangalli - "When I was preparing for the finals and was struggling, every phrase that my friend told me became a huge source of strength. I want to thank that friend and I want to tell [him/her] that I love [him/her]". The fans are now curious if this was aimed at a lady friend, because if the friend was a guy, he would have called him by name. Violet apparently responded "Maybe, Maybe not", adding that "I said it because I really wanted to express my thanks to someone I was really grateful for after winning", and concluded saying that "I'll be the sole bearer of the truth".
- BoxeR and his girlfriend, the actress Kim Ga Yeon, apparently played the role of the "love's messenger" for SKT's manager. SKT's Manager Park is said to get married this upcoming 21st.
First time for everything
Apparently, this all star game was Jaedong's first time playing the "Base Swap" UMS. Stork had played this in "All Nighter Spirit with Shinae" before, alongside the TV's hosts and regular guests who are pretty good at this game now. No wonder Jaedong got wrecked.
In addition, it looks like free and Sea had missed their initial KTX trains down to Pusan. They were looking for their seats, and apparently they were looking for it by looking outside the train, rather than inside, leaving them surprised when the Train took off. Free and Sea had to get on the next train that left 40 minutes later.
Also, some key quotes from the All Star Invitationals
Female Caster: "It's Tossgirl. I haven't seen her recently but she's gotten really pretty!" Sea: "I saw her today and it looked like she went pretty heavy on the makeup"
Ingame Chat 1 - Reach/Leta Interaction Context- apparently, Reach didn't know what race the other team was in.
Reach: Are you guys Protoss? Leta: We're Zerg. [Leta was Protoss] Reach: Eh? What? Reach: You said you would play Protoss Leta: They said it was fine no matter what race we picked Reach: You Liar Reach: Even then, you should at least tell me your race Reach: Are you really Zerg? Leta: Yes. Really. Reach: ok!
*Reach goes 14cc*
Reach: Argh, I thought the Kakaru was an Overlord Leta: hehe
*Reach scouts Leta* Reach: Hey, Hey, Hey! Reach: You dorks Leta: Did you really believe me? Reach: I didn't know Leta was this kind of person
*Much Later on, after a few swaps, Leta vs Reach again*
Leta: Right now, it's NaDa hyung... Reach: You cannot be forgiven Reach: I can see that it is you.
Reach wrecks Leta's army with tanks. Leta loses pretty much all of his goons.
Leta: ;;; Leta: Hyung Leta: Can you move back just once? ;; Reach: Okay Leta: Thank you Reach: I was going to wreck you so you would never lie again Leta: ;; Leta: Can you make Jaedong type "gg"?
Ingame Chat 2
Context - NaDa gets his army wrecked.
Reach: Hey NaDa Reach: How does it feel to have all your Dragoons turned into Ice cream? Reach: ^_^
Ingame Chat 3
Context - Tossgirl is attacking the 6 o clock expansion
Jaedong: Please let me live.... Tossgirl: keke Tossgirl: "Noona, you're pretty" Tossgirl: Try saying that *no response* Tossgirl: ;; Jaedong: Please just break it [T/N: it = 6 o clock base] Tossgirl: lol Tossgirl: I'm going to nuke you
Other than that some Baby - NaDa interaction but not that amusing. It was something like, "I'm not buying you snacks anymore" "It's okay I stopped eating snacks cause of my skin. I'm actually thankful for you not buying me snacks"
Records and Numbers
KeSPA released the records set in this past July.
1) Bisu sets the record for most number of appearances in the Post Season. He played 8 games from July 17th to July 31st, bringing up his total to 23 games, surpassing Savior's 20 games.
2) SK Telecom breaks the record for most number of wins in the post season in the month of July with 5 wins in July, bringing up their record to 14, passing CJ's 13 wins.
3) Midas surpassed Sea in to have second place in the best win rate in the post season. He now has 10 wins and 3 losses with a 77% win rate, surpassing the previous second place holder, Sea who has a 74% record with 14 wins and 5 losses. sKyHigh has the best win rate in the post season with 11 wins 2 losses, a whopping 85%.
4) BeSt now has the second best win rate in official matches against Terran. By beating CuteAngel on the 31st, he surpassed Leta, who had a record of 58 wins 28 losses (67.4%) with a record of 55 wins 26 losses (67.9%). Flash still holds the record with 99 wins 40 losses with a winrate of 71.2%
KT to the Philippines
As promised, KT is now looking into sending their players to Cebu or Boracay for a vacation. KT is also now considering upgrading all of the players' phones to the iPhone 4, but they're only considering it because apparently, the players aren't completely used to the 3GS phone that they have received before.
Fan Remarks
I started reading the "Gallery" (some sort of fan cafes for all the teams) forums recently, and according to some of their Gwangalli finals experiences... - Best was decided as the ace player for SKT at the finals - Hyuk apparently likes smelling things. This explains why he was sniffing s2's hands in the MSL Group Ceremony. Also apparently he was so drunk in the outing after the finals that he just took drinks from people and kept on drinking and passed out at a sofa?
Sadly that's all I read so far. I'll start reading these things more and hopefully I'll start sharing more of these random potentially unfounded rumors in the future
Other News To Check out
- KeSPA - Gretech establish an NDA, negotiations under way. - Unnamed Pro-gaming team looking sell or disband - Hyuk and Leta receive FA Status
Man, I felt like I was writing a tabloid newspaper this time around -____-;;;
Here's a poll you should check out if you like following these kinds of news

/hug Milkis for providing the progaming trivia. I still remember jd's face when stork takes control of 30+ dragoons at the last minute and finishes him, it was like: lol wtf?

haha, that added quotes were the funniest part of All Stars match.
supernovamaniac provided much rougher translation in his livestream of that jaedong and tossgirl interaction, though I must say it was much funnier also. It went something like this:
Jaedong: plz save 6 TossGirl: say that i'm pretty Jaedong: fine, destroy it then..
|
I love Reach. :D
And Jaedong made me laugh, not giving into Tossgirl. XD
|
Awsome job dude! the ingame chats had me crying on the floor laughing xD the jaedong vs stork really was lame though, massively 1 sided, how long has it been since stork beat jeadong in a televised match? btw the relay match was really fun to watch, it was close until+ Show Spoiler +BaBy raped NaDa with with vultures and macroed like a MoFo to set the stage for his teams win
|
Awww, poor Hyuk drowning his sorrows.
Reach is awesome though, haha.
Thanks for translating

Stork has beaten Jaedong in his last 4 korean matches, (he did win some games in WCG finals in China but they never really count those).

What a baller Stork. Having a winning head to head count against JD, Flash and Bisu! :D
But he isn't the only baller around this time around.....

Jaedong 0-2 stars invitational. Slumping bad. Jaedong bad.
Goddamn we never got a Best v.s. Flash ace match. We could have had Best pants stripping ceremony. U no u want.
Midas is known as the "man of the post-season". Funny his post-season rate is still improving after his prime.
Leta is hilarious. Reach tore him a new one though.
I'd get drunk silly too if I was in Hyuk's shoes. Nobody expected him to win, but at least he made it look close. It's like a Backho game.

Oh man, I would shit my pants to see BeSt stripping. God dammit, why did it have to be this way?!?!
That's our Hyuk! Living it up to his true name! But he definitely improved since last year so I can see much bigger potential in him! Hyuk hyuk hyuk!

Holy moly. That's the 2005 KT v.s. SKT grand final, right?
I can perfectly understand that.
Reach/Yellow/Nal_ra/Chojja v.s. Boxer/Oov/Midas/Kingdom
If I live in Korea, I'd risk my marriage (not I am married) to see that.
This Grand Final of the new generation pales in comparison to that level of epicness.
