With the recent surge of SC2 onto the scene, Brood War has pretty much been relegated to the role of an afterthought. Had Brood War not been such a popular game, who knows how many people would take any interest in SC2? The game of Brood War has evolved rapidly through the years, but still remains one of the most balanced and competitive games ever.

Pretty much throughout the history of competitive Starcraft, the OSL (OnGameNet Starleague) has always been the most prestigious title that all players covet. While some might say Proleague has taken more precedence as of late, they know that deep down it's the glory of winning individual gold that makes the OSL so prestigious. The tears of joy that every OSL winner exhibits after a win, the sheer elation from thousands of fans and supporters in the crowd. From Xellos' emotional win in Olympus to Anytime's heroic triumph over the Emperor in So1 to Stork's emotional tears of joy after finally winning gold. All these moments capture the essence of winning an OSL finals.

The OSL finals have graced us with some of the greatest games of all time. From JulyZerg's comeback on Forte against GooDFrienD to GGPlay's insane defiler defense against Iris on Python, the OSL has brought us many incredible series that will we shall forever remember. Nada's struggle against Anytime, Boxer falling short against his protege Oov, Yellow's failure to win gold. All encompassed by the OSL.

Since SC2 Beta came out, I became slightly depressed as I saw the overall viewer count during OSL/MSL/PL drop over time. Thus, I went searching for old games to revive some of that passion I used to have for watching Brood War games. While it took a long time to find some of them, I was eventually able to find all but the '99 Progamer Korea Open. Thanks to oskyloveo and some random Chinese sites, I was able to grab all the vids from each and every OSL finals and upload them for you guys to share. These games bring back great memories of the past and really does show how much the game has evolved over the course of 10 years. Plus, the spacesuit outfits in the earlier finals are amazing.

While I know that most of these games you can watch on Youtube, I just enjoy having these videos on hand so I don't have to dig through everything and search on Youtube. Plus, some series like Yellow vs Xellos in Olympus are incomplete on Youtube. Might not be spoiler free stuff, but I feel as if most people know the results of most of these already. Oh, and I apologize cause each download link is the entire series. Didn't feel like uploading every single game so I just rarred em all up into a pack.
These download links shouldn't ever die unless Megaupload just decides to die one day. Was thinking about putting these on the tracker, but I didn't think anyone was gonna be interested in a 20 GB+ torrent.

Thanks a lot. Out of curiosity, does anyone know if there's any source where one might be able to find any other older vods for download?

I haven't had any luck aside from trying on random Korean file sharing places. Torrents are plentiful for newer stuff, but the old stuff doesn't appear that often. =(

Such a damned shame... I wanted to cry when I lost all those videos, especially since I knew that I'd probably never get most of them back since torrents tend to die fairly quickly. Well, this is a step at least..

I'd suggest CB search sites like Boxfile.co.kr. Search for korean names definitely. English IDs won't get you anywhere. From there, you're gonna have to do a little guessing if you don't know Korean. Click the links and it'll prompt you to log in. If you're not a member of the box you're trying to get files from, you're gonna have to join their box. It's in the upper rightish of the box front page. Then go back and try to DL the file again by clicking the light blue button. It's a painful process, speeds only get up to 50 kb/s (capped). And quick downloads (using mileage coupons) don't help either cause those speeds only get up to 150 kb/s (on occasion).

i also like to credit iris for that too. No better way to see ggplay's defiler play then against the most agressive terran in the world. Iris is just so underrated when it came to tvz, always gave us the best tvz bo5 series. He was that close to winning 3-0 too. I consider the ggplay vs iris final my personal favorite and best final of all time. I think it had every thing a final should have. And honestly it showed you didnt need players like flash or jaedong to get a really good final. I think the final was unrecognized at first because of the players but it ended up being one of if not the best final ever. Non stop action from start to finish. I never really saw what people saw in ggplay until that final too.

Watching those older games makes me realize how much the game has progressed.
All of those pre-05 winner would get rolled by any random A-teamer nowadays. But of course that's not to take away from their accomplishments - because the A-teamers now are so good thanks to the developments of the previous champions and players.
But man, whenever you watch one of those older games...you think to yourself...
why aren't you expanding? why aren't you harassing? why aren't you adding gates/factories/hatcheries?
The timings are so much slower, the attacks are so much slower, everything is so much slower.

Thank you so much; I really, really appreciate this. When I watched pre-2009-ish, I didn't watch actual sets or seasons - I just watched individual games with these players, before I took the time to learn how the OSL / MSL seasons worked. I'm really looking forward to watching the VODs of the all these finals.
Hopefully people will continue to seed / download - I've downloaded 4.71 GB and uploaded 2.28 after 18 hours.

GGplay vs Iris is THE must see series here, you will be blown away by the plays of both players in the series.

July vs Goodfriend is incredible. Batoo is great too ! Olympus is quite good, there's a pretty legendary game in it. And yeah, sAviOr vs NaDa is underrated I feel.

No more broodwar osl after this year tving osl well at least broodwar had a really good run . Supernovamaniac casting Daum osl 2007 live was one of the most interesting days I ever had he was screaming on every action that Iris v GGplay were orchestrating on the screen . I stood there with my jaws open saying broodwar could have never gotten any better than this .That freaking drop on that hatchery should have seal the deal for Iris but some how GGplay management skill was so amazing that even Iris effort was totally put to waste .
I am going to take my time and download all these vods and put it some where safe and when there are days where I feel the need to look at bw to satisfy this feeling in me . I will look forward and spring out the beers to enjoy this old classic broodwar games that most of the new guys wouldn't even bother to watch it in the first place because to them the game is too archaic and for those who don't you manage to watch broodwar at it's highest level . Games played for passion and countless hour poured in to a video game this effort the pro gamers has put in to the game to show spectacular games for fans and for pro gamers to prove themselves they are the best in the world is the most enjoyable thing anyone could ever gain from being a rts fan in general .
I don't like how pro korean broodwar is going to die even though I am already accepting it's death since I can't be bothered to watch any regular matches in the hybrid matches of sc2/bw proleague . The only recent vods which wasn't a one sided stomp from each players was Stork v Hyvaa .I don't know why I am even bothered watch to any korean pro bw vods any more for this last hurrah for bw in proleague . Damn you kespa for putting bw in these position this is the freaking last year bw got it's chance to shine brightly before it just get nuked in the stars and that's the end . But nooooo you have to put damn sc2 as the ace match . What the hell is wrong with you kespa ? So many broodwar fans at home in korea in the world are kicking themselves for your actions .
You better hope your risk in transitioning to sc2 pays off because if you don't this will be the unmaking of you as a e-sport organization since people don't want to watch anything that has got to do with you any more.

I'm sorry for bumping this thread, but it happens that the EVER 2008 OSL finals between July and BeSt is incomplete, it is missing games 1 and 3, maybe someone have it and could upload
I've downloaded and watched all of them and they are all OK except for this one
and I will definitely vote for GGPlay vs Iris for the sickest finals of all of them xD

GGplay vs Iris Game 5 is for me one of the greatest BW games to exist. Typical berserker aggression fended off with some of the most clutch defiler usage on the deciding OSL final game.

The first match of the Grrr vs HOTforever finals isn't working for me (I think I've downloaded it twice and it has stopped working halfway through both times). Anyone else with the same problem?
