Where do players on BrainClan put their maps? I realised that they use the korean versions of the iccup maps so I downloaded them but still have to download the maps in game, problem is that I get booted before managing to download the map. Any help would be appreciated and a link to a map pack if there is one on the website would be nice too.

No idea, but any map on 1 on 1 mode counts as a ladder game.

Someone may correct me on this but map downloads aren't related to where the file is located.

It is more of the file name than anything. That's why you can get 3000 versions of fighting spirit. Everyone changes their file name for some reason (usually its like adding a space at the front so it shows at the top or something dumb). Look at all of the python/destination/fighting spirit maps in your download folder and you might see what I mean.

Also, where is an updated map pack for korean versions of recent maps? I'm pretty sure the mapdori pack stopped at python or w/e (found here).

I was (haven't logged on in a long time) in a korean team. They liked me, and i had no disrespect. On the ladder they were friendly.

A few years ago I would type the lyrics to a song mass spamming the channels and i got a bunch of "yankee go home" comments.

So i guess it depends. If you're cool and chill and respectful they treat u the same. If you're annoying they'll hate you for life.

My experiences match what CaucasianAsian is saying as well.

While I haven't been in a team on Brainclan I have been in a few korean clans on West. Generally they were very friendly towards me and it was a lot of fun (as well as amazing practice

My experiences match all those mentioned above. We're not a mean people, but its just known that Brain is our server and its very KR dominant. So... yeah not gonna be able to KR dodge in here iCCup'ers

P.S. If you want to play with basically the minor leagues of Progaming, Brainclan is it. Nothing on iCCup and nobody on iCCup really compares to the top notch guys here. Sorry :/

sCCrooked you seem to be one of the ones answering a lot of questions in this thread...

It looks like a lot of people are saying he server is down for them too. I'm guessing it is just down for extended maintenance like iccup does a lot. Is there any idea on when it might come back online?

And yeah, I love playing against gosu Koreans so brainclan is great once I'm able to get back on the server.

In my experience, when I say I'm from USA, most of them feel like they are getting punked and don't truly believe any non Koreans play there. Maybe they would be BM if they actually believed me.

i know some of koreans pretend to be americans, probably to troll the other koreans. a few allies that i've met have done that. they won't speak korean either, only in english lol xD

Actually I'm as lost as you are. I originally came into the thread due to an incompatibility issue with Windows Vista on my old computer. Since then, I've learned a lot more about Brainclan and how they operate. I, of course, heard about Brainclan from my friends whom I will ask about the server coming back up. I think it has been down for a few days. Fish server works though, you can try it out. You have to play 30 games (might be 30 wins, not too sure on that) before you can ladder.

For people wondering what the buttons on minilauncher do, this might help:

I'm still having problems with maps but I think it really is just the different file names that people use which causes it.

Btw, I don't know if this should be in a seperate topic, but are there significant differences between Brain and Fish server?
Also, any different details for getting into fish?

Generally I find the skill on Fish to be fairly lacking, even on their ladder. Albeit I haven't played Fish in almost a year now. You'll find a good player every now and again, but it's not as common as BrainClan to any degree.

A brief history on Fish. A long time ago, I met a young korean who wanted to bridge the gap between korean and foreigner teams. He created the first (and unfortunately last) clan league that incorporated korean teams with western teams. I don't know the skill level now-adays. A few of my korean team mates have said that there are a lot more hackers on fish. I guess play there at your own risk.
