I'm pretty sure many of us have either indirectly or directly benefitted from Jon747's channel on YouTube before. FYI, Jon747 has been uploading Pro League VODs to YouTube for some time now, and he is probably the quickest uploader of Pro League VODs - much faster than Team Liquid's Nevake channel. In addition, some videos that we cannot find here on Team Liquid, because they are not found on Nevake's channel, are often found on Jon747's channel.
Many of us may have indirectly benefitted from Jon747's channel as well when we search for English commentated VODs on youtube - for instance, NukeTheStar has reused some of Jon747's VODs before for his English commentated VODs. And of course, many of us directly use Jon747's channel to watch VODs as well.
Well, it looks like Jon747 may stop posting Pro League VODs, which would be a great loss to the community. As per his comments on his YouTube page:

Yeah Jon747 is awesome. Hopefully he continues to upload stuff as I dont really think there is much of a legal issue. I dont know of any situations where they have requested videos be taken down (except GOM because they actually make money off of it).
Koreans get it live and they dont sell it to anyone outside Korea, so there is really no profit lost.

Nevake's account hasn't uploaded the latest KT Rolster vs CJ Entus VODs yet - something that Jon747 would have done by now. Jon747 usually uploads the VODs within 24 hours of the match. This is just a huge loss to the community.

Chill, FYI, some of us probably got back into Starcraft by rewatching the VODs on YouTube. To be frank, I myself am only here on TeamLiquid after watching so many VODs on YouTube as it has rekindled my interest in Starcraft. I wouldn't look at it as a "we vs them" type of mentality - something of Jon747's services is a benefit to the entire Starcraft community, TeamLiquid included.

Baezzi (guy who controls Jon747 after it was loaned to him) is in general a douche and backstabber; case in point the Jon747 account, which he gratefully took but refused to give back. As soon as he had the acct he got into a fight with TL and decided that he was no longer going to be the one writing in the Small Vod Thread (which is what he had done previously and why he had been gifted/loaned the Jon747 youtube acct). Thus nevake was necessary.
Now he's come up with a roundabout way to ask for people to give money to him. Great. If you give him money, it's going to him buying a new jacket.

Jon747's is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than nevake's account. Usually on nevake, the vid is uploaded days or a week later, when you don't even want to see it anymore. Jon747 uploads it relatively quickly, when the hype is still there. This is a huge loss.

Streaming speed aside, my point with ArsenalGunner is that some of us are here playing Starcraft again, and part of the TeamLiquid community, partly because of Jon747's channel. This is a bigger loss for the community as a whole and is probably a bigger loss for TeamLiquid in the longer run (despite Baezzi's misguided viewpoints).
Wfbood and Youku are simply not as accessible for many non-Chinese viewers, as compared to YouTube.

XTOC used to be good until the uploader started getting lazy

XTOC is more of a VOD/Software service than anything. You also had the ability to download TV VODs (not HD) a couple hours laters but just yesterday they slapped copyright stuff all over it
So as of now, LimeUSA would be a better choice for you. I'm not sure on the details of LimeUSA but I heard you can download literally everything there.

Ok, so after my initial rage, I think this could probably be an opportunity for the community to get more sources for VODs out there. If there is a big effort to locate and upload by multiple people, we will be better than fine. It will mean that perhaps a single youtube channel won't be the sole source for speedily available StarCraft. All you fuckers out there who are craving efame and creating your stupid D+ SC blogs to try to garner it, this is your calling.

I would help but sites like Clubbox that have a huge database just takes too long to download from. Sites like LimeUSA (I just checked like 5 minutes ago) have a decent download rate and program BUT their latest WL VODs are from Feb 3, 2010. I can keep looking around for stuff but can't guarantee anything.

I just realized how big of a problem this is. The newest vods on clubbox, limeusa, and yaoyuan is 100203. I saw 100205 vods on a clubbox account, but they all got deleted by copyright claim.

You go to wfbrood.com and you look for the links that have the word VOD in them the day after the games are played. The titles usually have OSL, MSL, or the teams name's such as STX, eSTRO, or such in english so it's not hard at all to navigate. Caveat: there are spoilers once you click the links.

Yeah, I agree. We'll have to overlook Baezzi's character (or maybe lack of character) and consider the positives he brings to the community. For OGN people could be downloading them directly from the Daum Player somehow and then uploading it. But I know that downloading directly from Daum can be unbelievably slow

The real tragedy is that oskyloveo has apparently stopped uploading. Baezzi isn't the problem. He's replaceable. He was a nice convenience, but eventually we'll find a way around him, and we won't have to rely on a person as fucked up as he is anymore. Good riddance.

Of course some people are still bitter about the past argument. They perceive Baezzi to be a fucked up person and they refuse to ignore this aspect and actually do something that might help Baezzi out. Worst thing is, people who are bitter about the past Baezzi are people with power: TL admins.
People say that the real problem is the source. From what I hear, it is possible to buy the vods from OGN/MBC for a fee. However, Baezzi's job on uploading the videos fast with decent quality is unrivaled from what I see.
Of course everythign I said is how I think of things right now.

Why don't someone just write a script that records off one of the streams at the time of each match? Then they can just cut it up manually(which shouldn't take long) the next day and upload?

Wow, this is definitely one thing I would go to great lengths (monetarily) to help out with. Lately some of the livestreams have been a bit choppy (or possibly it's because of Australia's fail internet) and it's just been a bit unwatchable for me trying to view matches live - I rely on the TL nevake and Jon for watching stuff now... Yeah, I agree with Highway. For whatever greivances Baezzi caused when he took the account, he has more than paid back the Starcraft community.
Anyways, the issue now is how can we get another source for Baezzi.
As for another poster commenting that Baezzi being replacable, I'm not too sure about that. It takes alot of time and dedication to upload the matches to YouTube that fast and to be that comprehensive. Other than the GOM matches, there hasn't been a Pro League match that I can't find on Jon747's channel - everything you want is there.

I would also like to remind people that our channel used to be faster and more reliable than Baezzi well until last summer - when our own VOD sources dried up. Once we have a new source it's rather unimportant who does the actual uploading, it's all about getting the VODs fast ourselves.

[1] is the whoever uploads these doing additional Chinese commentary (though he doesn't talk much at all...). If you don't see the [1] [2], there's a high probability that what you're watching is the Korean VOD anyway.

Many people have short memories. Last year during the Proleague Finals, VODs on nevake went up a couple of minutes after the games were played. Plus nevake has always been better quality and without the scrolls at the bottom of the screen.

I know I can get korean signals with my korean sat box if I repoint my satellite, but I'm not sure what channels will be available.

I wanted to point that out too. A few months ago, games were normally much faster uploaded on nevake then on jon747.
And it should really not be a fight about who is the better uploader. It is simply better to have two reliable sources on youtube than one.
edit: wfbrood is normally a bitch to deal with, at least for me . VODs often load very slowly or sometimes not at all, plus the spoiler problem.

Yup, thanks for the info zatic. It's unfortunate that Baezzi has a personality problem and just can't cooperate with Team Liquid. I do agree with Malinor though, that despite Baezzi's differences with Team Liquid, the Starcraft community as a whole is better off with 2 great VOD sources.
Obviously, when Nevake is getting the VODs faster than Jon747, users will switch to Nevake. Vice versa if it's Jon747. Having two great VOD sources is a plus to the entire Starcraft community, especially when it comes to attracting new fans to pro Starcraft. At the end of the day, everybody, including Team Liquid, GosuGamer, ICCUP, and even OGN and MBC benefit by having a larger world wide Starcraft audience.

No, that is not was I said. All I am saying is we don't want to work with him on building a VOD backend for TLPD because of his erratic behavior. Everyone should appreciate the amount of work he is doing regardless.
Also I don't get where this is coming from since you are well aware that I understand how much work daily uploading is after I took over the nevake channel from you guys 2 years ago and have uploaded close to 5000 games since then.

No one is underrating Baezzi's work in uploading vods everyday. Considering Baezzi's behavior I understand why TL doesn't want to colaborate with him anymore and I fully support this decision. Besides, once we get a new source, zatic's going to be on fire uploading stuff on nevake.

Nevermind. For the people wondering - the MBC and OGN channels aren't FTA. If someone in Asia with a satellite could get a subscription and create a private stream, our problems would be solved. . .
Anyway. . . I think we need to consider the MBC/OGN dimension of this. If they want to charge for their production, maybe we should let them. The best thing in the world would be if they made the game available for free on their site. Maybe someone could send them an email and see whats up? They probably aren't earning crap from their pay-wall - so if they put their videos on youtube and embed some commercials they would probably earn a hell of a lot more.

While I do agree that wfbrood always uploads vods very fast after the games are over, youku loads really slow for me, doesnt matter if I'm at home or using the internet from the dorms. It would still be a good idea though.

The MBC site offers free VODs to Korean citizens (ie you need a SSN to signup), but on a delay of a few days. The OGN site also offers VODs, and I believe its possible to access them using the same account you use for the live stream, but I don't have the time to check that right now.

This seriously is going to kill a lot of SC for me.
I watch his channel all the time to get up to date with the latest games.
It usually takes a little too long for VODs to hit nevake's channel (no offense meant! I love what you do man) for me to have the patience to wait around for it.
I feel I'm just gonna read live reports/check results from now on, and watch less actual starcraft.
Really sad.

Uploading VODs when you have a reliable source isn't that hard. I know, I used to do it for the TL tracker. Sure I didn't upload Proleague VODs, but my connection was a lot slower and my computer space was kind of limited so I just didn't feel it worth the bandwidth (and there wasn't a great demand for them back in the day). But seriously, uploading VODs "fast" is like this:
1.) Click a few buttons to open up a window where you would download said VODs (for me a clubbox page way back in the day, for Baezzi apparently oskyloveo's webpage).
2.) Refresh every once in awhile until you see the VODs up.
3.) Begin downloading VODs.
4.) Come back in (hours) minutes when the downloads finish.
5.) Rename as you feel appropriate
6.) Click a few more buttons.
That's all it takes. Seriously it's just a couple of clicks and a few seconds taken to refresh the page. It's not that challenging of a task. Sure, the time adds up, but it's not that hard/draining as you appear to make it out to be. If I recall correctly he got the Jon747 account from Violtak (I think) who got it from Jon747. They each passed it on to someone who was already proving themself willing to mass upload stuff on youtube as they themselves stopped uploading. They were tl posters but tl didn't actually arrange any part of it, he proved himself on youtube by uploading a lot of stuff, not on tl.
Whereas nevake offered his account to tl in the topic I made pooling resources for the replacement of baezzi.
I agree baezzi is bat shit insane but he doesn't owe us anything. Unless Jon747 wants the account back it's his.

I doubt you would be as 1/100 as dedicated as Baezzi. He has been uploading for some time now, and is quite punctual with his uploads. If you're volunteering to take his place, you're more than welcome. If you're not replacing Baezzi, then please don't criticize his dedication and effort.

While I agree that the source is the actual bottleneck uploading to youtube is way more annoying than adding a torrent to a tracker. It's actually so much grind work that I almost can't believe Baezzi did this for so long. Actually maybe that's how he got insane haha.
I coded a bunch of tools that help with the process without those I would never be able to upload that much. Actually just uploading the TSL Vods once a week is already so annoying I can't imagine doing that every day good god.

Its pretty funny that Mighty Teamliquid.net with all its power and minions cant upload SC videos with the numbers, reliability or speed that one questionably sane korean can.

Granted, i've only been with the scene for just about a year now, and only with TL for half of that, but from what i've seen the jon747 account is faster and more reliable than nevake, and additionally includes stuff like Fpvods and what not. Am I missing something?

Until last summer nevake has been consistently faster with PL and MSL (usually VODs were up couple of minutes after the live game), and about as fast with OSL vods. Then our own VOD sources went down / got unreliable and that's where we are now. Again, it all depends on reliable sources, if I have those I can upload to Youtube in no time.

Thanks Zatic. We definitely appreciate your effort on this. There is no doubt alot of work and dedication involved in uploading those VODs and people should really appreciate this.
To those who would belittle Zatic's effort or Baezzi's effort, we would like to see you fill their shoes. That probably won't happen, because you wouldn't be able to do 1/10 of what they do, or last 1/10 as long as they have.

Click a few buttons to open up a window where you would download said VODs (for me a clubbox page way back in the day, for Baezzi apparently oskyloveo's webpage). 2.) Refresh every once in awhile until you see the VODs up. 3.) Begin downloading VODs. 4.) Come back in (hours) minutes when the downloads finish. 5.) Rename as you feel appropriate 6.) Click a few more buttons. That's all it takes. Seriously it's just a couple of clicks and a few seconds taken to refresh the page. It's not that challenging of a task. Sure, the time adds up, but it's not that hard/draining as you appear to make it out to be. Of course Baezzi should be congratulated for doing it consistently; howerver, we should also not forget the transgressions he has done to TL by stealing a director account. Luckily nevake stepped in and provided us with another one and I put my faith in zatic to change a few things and create a much sexier channel for TL and non-Korean Starcraft fans. Korean Cable (or whatever) with 3 boxes
Awesome Korean internet
And about $5 extra per month
Then just give it all to Chill or Artosis or one of the casters in Korea. They can hook all that stuff up in a closet somewhere and stream EVERYTHING 24/7 over to some server R1CH will undoubtedly write in 12 minutes which will automagically reencode the streams, cut out the commercials, then properly name and upload the VODs. It's that simple.

I've never uploaded a video to youtube so I wouldn't know anything about the uploading there. Torrents were really easy to make, just tell your client to tell it to make a torrent and then upload it to the tracker.
If making youtube videos is actually a decent bit of work then yeah, I guess he's more worthy than I was making it out.

Yeah, and you have to ponder on whether or not you'll get consistent results AFTER donating. I'm not saying anybody's trying to steal money or anything, just mentioning a safety precaution that the whole donating/paypal thing isn't a business deal. Yeah I was thinking this as well. I'd be willing to do it for at least some of the games, except I don't have a youtube account that can upload >10min games.
I'm sure if you got 3 or 4 people to share an account they could do it reliably and upload the games pretty quickly, maybe even faster than Baezzi is doing now.

Seriously, if you don't have anything good to say about him, don't bash him either directly or indirectly. He's been uploading SC vods every day for 3 years. That is so much time dedicated by him. He does not deserve to be passive aggressively bashed by people that haven't put as much effort into the community as he has.
Don't demonize him just because he had a run-in with the TL admins. Not with the SC community; with the TL admins.

Sad sad news. Fast upload is essential for Starcraft. By the time the vod is out 3 days later, my interest would have moved on elsewhere.

TL needed videos, and Baezzi needed a director's account to avoid splitting the files. TL gave Baezzi access to a director's account (at the time, they were extremely rare, much more rare than an SC2 beta key) so that both parties could mutually benefit. Over some retarded rape argument, despite the fact that L2W profusely apologized and attempted to resolve the situation, Baezzi pulled the plug, changed the password to the account and banned TLPD's connections to his videos.
He's just a douche, but at the same time, as I repeatedly said before, I do respect his time and effort put into uploading the videos. I don't think TL, as a community, should support his cause, but if you want to do it, it's entirely up to you.

The Jon747 channel has been my TV for the last 2 years and the videos don't stop being uploaded unless there is a break in the different Leagues. The amount of work and dedication it takes for such a production should not be understated.

He's just a douche, but at the same time, as I repeatedly said before, I do respect his time and effort put into uploading the videos. I don't think TL, as a community, should support his cause, but if you want to do it, it's entirely up to you. The question is, has he made up for his past actions towards TL for his work in the last several years. You can't deny his contributions towards the SC community as a whole. You also can't deny that TL has benefitted from Baezzi because people like me and Arsenalgunner wouldn't even be on TL without Baezzi's work. Now if he had stolen the account and never uploaded a single VOD, then yes, he should be crucified. However, he put the account to good use and the SC community and TL have ultimately benefitted from his work and more. It's kind of like you have $1 million to donate to Unicef, but a thief steals your $1 million. The thief then invests your $1 million and makes $1 billion, and then the thief decides to donate all $1 billion to Unicef. Yeah, you can't condone the thief for stealing your money, but in a circular way, the thief paid back your $1 million to Unicef, plus $999 million more to Unicef.
I never once denied his contribution towards the foreign SC community, and I made an effort to mention that in every post I made in this thread.
You are mistaking TL and the foreign SC community. Baezzi hurt TL, and he has never made it up to TL. TL did not benefit directly from his uploads (in fact, TL is still using nevake's uploads), and his actions were purely malicious and hostile towards this website. The few who stumbled upon TL serendipitously through his videos do not justify his initial actions.
Besides, the nevake channel was uploading videos in a very speedy and consistent manner in the prior months (often faster than jon747 channel). With or without baezzi, you would have found TL regardless.
Also, your example is largely inaccurate. It was as if TL had $1 million (the director account), and wanted to invest it (uploading videos and linking them to TLPD). But then Baezzi came along and stole the money (the account) and the opportunity for TL to invest (banned TL access), and invested it himself.

It was the large library of Pro League videos posted on Jon747 and Nevake that peeked my interest in Starcraft again. Like Arsenalgunner, it's questionable whether I would have found TL without the Jon747 account (although Nevake had alot of videos but was incomplete - some vidoes are missing from Nevake).
The comprehensive library of Pro League VODs on YouTube, especially the Jon747 channel which is the most comprehensive channel for Pro League VODs, was a conduit for people like me and Arsenalgunner (and probably others) in finding TL.
Anyways, if the Nevake channel can get the uploads in a timely manner, it will replace the Jon747 channel over time. I'm hoping that the Nevake channel can pick up where Jon747 left off - or the Starcraft community as a whole will suffer.

I hate to contribute to all this crap, but just as a point of clarification.. Baezzi never "cut off TL" from all the VODs or anything like that.

Yes, it was something that Baezzi threatened to do but it was an idle threat that has been blown out of proportion... as has all of this stupid stuff.

This is simply not true Moletrap. He did block embedding for all his uploads just so TLPD and the Small Vod Thread would break. He openly said so himself. He posted pretty childish flame videos on his front page saying exactly that and flaming TL and individual TL members.

Mention teamliquid anywhere on his channel, whether it be in VODs or on his profile page and he'll ban you (contents of your post don't matter). Try for yourself.
Dude banned me from his channel for saying kwanro was an all-in newbie (1+ year ago against stork). He doesn't care if it's justified or not. If he doesn't like what you have to say (or rather what he interprets that it is you have to say), he'll ban rather than try and make sense of it.

Lol TL didn't find a flaw with him (although it certainly could), he simply had an argument, left TL, took the account with him and blocked TL from accessing it. Obviously they wouldn't have given it to him in the first place if they knew he was psycho, and as such will not work with him again.

New robot is uploading proleague now (Edit: to youtube.com/nevake). VODs should be up about 10 hours after the games have been played, depending on how quickly the source uploads.
No idea how long this system will work but for now it seems stable.
