BeSt: "I was counting on my strategy to win and it succeeded, so I'm happy." "The coaching staff believed in me, therefore sending me out."
- You won through strategic play. ▲ I was counting on my strategy today, and despite its low success rate during practice, it turned out better than I expected today.
- You must have been pressured because you were playing on an unfavorable map. ▲ The coaching staff sent me out because they believed in my PvT. That is why I practiced really hard for today.
- Your reason for choosing to play strategically instead of standard macro play? ▲ I wanted to play standard too, but I've been playing just standard recently, so I tried going for strategic play today. I had a good feeling about today and I think it worked well.
- Did you lack practice time? ▲ After the MSL on Thursday, I only had Friday to practice. Hence, despite feeling that I lacked some practice, because I opted for strategic play, I focused harder on training on my image (regarding my PvT).
- In the previous MSL Group Selections, you received lots of love from Zerg players. ▲ I was always confident. That day, I was laughing but deep down, I was crying. I felt that they were picking on me because my PvZ was weak, so I swore to myself that I have to show them that I'm not weak in PvZ anymore.
- Round 1 is coming to an end, how would you rate your performance so far? ▲ Today is my 5th win, but comparatively, I had 10 wins in the first round last season. I did not get that many wins this time, but I am winning games on a good note, so I am happy right now, and I'm confident that I can take down whoever I have to face.
- Zergs have been on a rampage lately. ▲ I lost a lot to Zergs in the past, and I've improved only now. But now, it's true that the Zerg players are improving. But the Protoss players are improving as well, so we will eventually catch up to them.
- Any final words? ▲ My guild's Guild Master Kim Yoo Seung-hyung is going to the army, and I hope he returns healthily. I will produce good results while you're in the army, so I hope he stays strong in the army.

Bisu: "I think I have to further increase my skills." "It's fact that the Zergs' simcities are hard to deal with."
- Thoughts on your win? ▲ I'm happy that I won a PvZ. I think I have to work harder and further improve on my skills.
- This is your 7th win this season. ▲ It's already 7 wins. Last season I had over 50 wins, so I don't feel anything special yet (laugh). It's not because my total wins so far is low, but it's because I'm doing well. I wanted to end Round 1 without any losses, but that is impossible now, but I think I'm performing well because I'm working hard for the team.
- Weren't you pressured about your match with by.hero? ▲ I wasn't. I did not think much about it. I don't really care about our head-to-head score, but there has been an image about me being weak towards him, and I think that is because I lost to him during the games that mattered, leaving a strong impact. However, I was confident (about today).
- Because of the Zergs' simcity on Fighting Spirit, Protoss players' winning rate on this map isn't good. ▲ It's not just Fighting Spirit, but all other maps as well. If they place the buildings well, it becomes fully inaccessible, so it's hard to break through the defense. In today's game, the 1 o'clock nat was fully blocked too, so I couldn't do Zealot run-bys, which left me a bit taken aback.
- Their simcity must be very frustrating. ▲ It definitely affects our gameplay. Suddenly, so many things I've prepared becomes impossible to do. There are many times that my strategies don't work because the nat is fully walled off. But if you use dragoons to attack the buildings, there will be positions where the sunken colonies will not be able to attack the dragons, so if we were to exploit such openings, Protoss players can win too.
- Any final words? ▲ Our team is now in 2nd place, so our team's atmosphere is very good. I'm part of it too, which makes me happy, and I hope to continue to lead my team well.

fantasy: "I think I have to work on my bionic TvZ more." "I feel satisfied to have made a comeback from a very dangerous moment."
- You went 1-1 today. ▲ It was already decided that I would play in the ace match, even before the start of the 4th set. That is why I told myself I just had to win one game, but that mindset ended up with my mediocre result today. However, I still won so I feel relieved, and in the past, I used to just collapse under pressure during such moments (TL note: reference to his ace game) but today, I made a comeback and won, so I feel very satisfied.
- You went for bionic in both games today. ▲ It's very hard to go mech nowadays. The Zergs now know how to react to it, so players are now choosing bionic once again. Hence, I can't play mech now, but many players are using altered bionic builds, so I intend to switch between normal bionic and altered bionic builds.
- Wasn't practice tough? ▲ I did not have a lot of practice time, but thankfully, I am only playing against Zergs this week, so it wasn't that tough. Other times I couldn't practice for my games against Zergs, but this week I was fully prepared, which was why I was ready to play in the ace match as well.
- Do you think you are now good at bionic play? ▲ I think I've more or less gotten good at it. However, after losing the 4th set, I think it's still just not there yet. I felt that I still had many things to work on. I think going on smooth winning streaks in the previous OSL affected me negatively.
- Did you expect to play against Calm in the ace match? ▲ Calm lost a lot in the MSL yesterday, so I expected Kal to play instead. However, Calm won the 4th set, which was why I think he wanted to ride on the momentum and play in the ace match. If I lost the ace match today as well, it may have affected me greatly.
- The Do-Taek-Myung trio won today. ▲ There aren't many days where the three of us win together on the same today. Our lineup today was Do-Taek-Hyuk-Myung, but our team's performance this season is good, so you can look forward to a more diverse lineup next round. Even if other players get to play in the next round, please continue to support them equally.
- Any final words? ▲ Today's real MVP should be BeSt. He took a win on a map where it is hard for Protosses and won the first set, which was why our team was able to play with our minds more at ease. Also, Hyuk is currently on a losing streak and he's very disappointed about it, but he actually plays very well, so as long as he wins another game, he can rise once again, and I believe he will.

thanks for the translation! poor best, crying deep inside

Thanks for the translation. Nice to see Best being candid. It's also nice he did a different build for once. He's going to be a lot more dangerous when opponents can't (accurately) assume that he'll do his one standard build.
And reavers could be the solution to zerg simcity...too bad they take so much attention to use.

Thanks for the translation, kona.
Is it just me or does Best look stoned in his picture? I really wanna see fantasy pull more bionic play...

Can anybody find A SINGLE interview where Bisu doesn't complain about map-imbalance? Seriously, I know PvZ is a hot topic for imbalance, but Kim Taek Yong is the only one that really cares it seems.

For some reason this made me laugh. I think that makes me soulless.
Thanks for the translations, kona.

So...BeSt used a strategy that did badly in practice but figured since it was Frozean it didn't matter?

in fact he wasn't complaining at all

He was saying zergs have been simcitying very well, which made it very tough for protoss to penetrate.

On November 29 2009 01:34 HaXXspetten wrote:Can anybody find A SINGLE interview where Bisu isn't asked about map imbalance? This would be a more accurate question. Bisu is known for being an awkward person and he probably just doesn't know how to give interview answers without sounding arrogant or cocky.
How many players in general, when asked about maps and their losses, would say, "The map played no role, I just suck at Starcraft, forgive me"? Bisu is often asked why he loses and perhaps he feels that he just has a lot of trouble on newer maps.
Edit: And as the two above posters said, Bisu does say "It's EVERY map." I don't think it's really complaining about map imbalance if he acknowledges that zergs can simcity well on every single map.

lol... the interviewer brings up map imbalance more than any of the players

You know what I just realized... Calm has been smacked around a lot by SKT1 players lately... poor Calm .
He's a very smart player and I like his play style. But I imagine this recent string of losses must have a toll on him .
|
Clam collapsed like a wet paper towel in the ace game.
While it's not completely fair to Bisu, considering he was just answering the questions he was asked, there is no point in denying that he was bitching about the maps. He even singled out a specific part of the map as a zerg haven.

WoW, nice interview, good players, nices matches... Keep improving

He used to be on such a roll... one of his consolations could be that his losses were mostly to very good players, but still I agree that he's gotta be angry with himself.

I just love how koreans say strategic play instead of cheese. It sounds so much more professional.
Thanks for the interviews kona!

HOLY FUCK some people still keep trying to pick at everything bisu says and try to contrue it as "ohh he's complaining about map imbalances". where in the interview does he complain. If anything he praises the zergs in their ability to construct good simcities. MAN whoever made that initial post in the thread is retarded
|
I love Bisu because he's constantly bitching about maps and zerg players relying to bullshit like sim city to win. I agree completly.

First few times, it was Bisu's bitching. But after a while, you notice that the questions are just phrased to troll Bisu.
