Alright, since a lot of people have been patient enough with me, this will be the official thread for these two LANs.
NYC LAN #3
December 19th, 2009
Time: I'm thinking we should start early at 1:00 PM
Place: NetZone Internet Cafe, between 5th and 6th Avenue and 32nd Street.
Price: See page 8, I failed in negotiating.
What are we doing: Casual Starcraft, Tournament if possible.
Food Accommodations: There probably will be a nice restaurant in the area, or a run to the 53rd and 6th official halal cart that starts around 8PM.
How to get to K-Town in Manhattan
By NYC Transit: There's the D,F,Q,N,R,W trains at Herald Square (34th Street and 6th Avenue). There's the 1,2,3 trains and the A,C,E from 7th Avenue and 8th Avenue and 33rd Streets. There's the 6 train from Lexington Avenue and 33rd Street.

By NYC Transit: Take 7 train to Flushing, then walk down Roosevelt Avenue until you get to Northern Boulevard, make a right, then walk to 158th Street. It is a far walk. You can also take the Q13/Q28 to reach this location after taking the train.

While casual play is the main goal of these LANs, I will set up a tournament, most likely a $5-10 buy-in with a prize structure yet to be determined for both LANs. This depends on how many people are interested.

TBH I think it's not a good idea to host LAN's so close to each other... although it depends on what you are trying to achieve with the LAN. It takes some of the 'specialness' away from it if they're all the time.

Xeris, I agree with your concerns about hosting 2 LANs together so close, but the problem is that a lot of TLers leave/come back to NYC after finals, and the timing for the public schools is off, so the only way to accommodate them would be to host 2 of them. The summer should be easier since everyone is free most of the time.

I doubt it's that important whether or not your name appears on the list or not, he probably just needed a list to keep track of how many people (roughly) were interested.

I just want to get a clearer number so that when I get back to the city on Thursday/Friday, I want to have an idea for the food planning. We could just go to one of the many restaurants on the street, as well as grabbing halal from 53rd and 6th if we manage to last until 8PM or so.

So I went to the LAN place today to negotiate, unfortunately, the manager was not there at the time. The rates that I quickly glanced at were $5 for one hour, $9 for 2, $13 for 3, $17 for 4, and $20 for 5 hours. I will be negotiating for 12 people, which is 9 confirmed, plus 1/3 of the tentative list. If you are on the tentative list, please confirm whether you are attending or not. I will call the place tomorrow to get reservations and possibly discounts.
Also, for the 26th LAN, please confirm, as I will attempt to negotiate by next week, probably Tuesday or so.

It took me the first two hours to configure my mouse and decide to just deal with the crappy resolution lol.

Sorry guys, I was being held up left and right. After posting that I would be there at 2, I suddenly realized that I hadn't eaten breakfast and was starving. By the time I finished eating and was ready to go it was already 1:30, and with all the rain and the possibility of traffic I just decided it wasn't worth going at that point since these LAN meet-ups always tend to end rather early.

Damn, I really regret not going now. It was raining heavily here in NJ so I thought only a few people would show up. I would've went in spite of all my doubts if there were not also a few errands I had to take care of before tomorrow afternoon. Ah well. I'll make the next one for sure.

sry i couldnt come this time.. i was too stoned the night before and i slept all day..then i got stoned 4 hours ago and just now..so yea it seems like u guys had a lot of fun despite people always forgetting their stuff lolz
