Played two games, hopefully some of you saw it, but I have other stuff to do, heh.
Actually, I played horribly. I apologize, haha.

Hey, I would just like to say upfront, this stream is not for purposes of learning how to play SC well, or how to get better. This is merely a result of inspiration from watching the SCForAll weekly video. Artosis said that because JustinTV was donating the money for SC community in the tournament, that maybe we should start streaming with them instead of livestream. I don't quite know of any major people using JustinTV, at least from what I've observed on TL.

Anyways, I'm going to be streaming for a little bit, just represent the product of what I've been doing for the past hour or so.

As for the guide part, it is fairly simple, actually, and sorry, it won't quite be as in-depth as others. This will be a quick once over, and I might rewrite.

I started out by referring to RaGe's streaming guide, originally Mogulus AKA Livestream, found here.

Things you'll need (to emulate what I did, at least):
I actually just copied most of it from RaGe's guide because the requirements are similar:
RaGe wrote:
Requirements:

- A good internet connection, with especially decent average upload speed.
- A decent computer, preferably dual core so encoding and SC can run on a different core. Encoding a stream while playing SC can be very taxing for your computer, so if you plan on running 2hour+ streams make sure you have decent CPU cooling so your motherboard wont fry.
- Camtasia Studio. This is not a freeware program. I used Camtasia 4.0.2 for my setup. I don't know how well later versions (I believe the most recent one is 6) work with SC:BW.
UPDATE: Camtasia 6 does not have live output so does not work. Camtasia 5.02 works with SC and Vista!
- Flash Media Live Encoder. This is a freeware program, but you have to register at Adobe.com to download it. Download it here. I recommend only installing it after you installed Camtasia and rebooted after the Camtasia installation.

In addition to that, you will need a Justin.tv account.

I set Camtasia to do live output at 640x480
Tools -> Options -> Video -> Manual -> Live Output Capture
I changed the settings:
      Screen Capture Rate: 35 frames/sec
Live Output Setup...-> Live Capture Rate: 35 frames/sec
Default Video Format... 32 bit RGB + 640x480
Additional settings (They were default, but they worked for me)
      Video Menu
Capture Codec: Techsmith Screen Capture Codec
Nothing Checked except "Round Frame Size to 4 pixel boundary"
      Capture Menu
            Save as AVI

As for Hotkeys, I set F8 to record, F9 to stop (I use F10ESQ to quit in SC, and the obvious menu access in SC, instead of clicking the button.)

Anyways, for the FMLE (Flash Media Live Encoder):
I went to justin.tv and used this link to help set that up for the account:
http://www.justin.tv/p/fme
That is a simple tutorial, and a .xml download to configure FMLE to connect to justin.tv directly. I believe you have to be logged in for it to stream correctly.

Going in FMLE, go to File -> Open Profile, and select the downloaded .xml file, and everything should go in.

In the main FMLE screen, you should have the left side for "output."
Note: This is while Camtasia Studio is open.
Device: Camtasia Studio Video Capture
Frame Rate: 30.00 fps
Input Size 640x480
Note: While changing these settings, sometimes it will open up a screen in Camtasia, I believe usually for the resolution screen that you had before. Just select the correct resolution (640x480) and press OK.

Bit Rate: For this, it all really depends on your upload speed. I personally get ~700-800 on online speedtests (Check at www.speedtest.net).
I did a 400Kbps at 320x240.

Now start live recording in Camtasia Studio, and the output should appear in FMLE's Output box, at the left. If it does, then press the green Start button at the bottom of FMLE, and assuming all the connections work correctly, then it should be streaming to justin.tv.
Note that there is a 5-10 second delay or so, so if nothing happens when you open the stream, give it a few seconds.

Another statement for this is that I have no guarantee that this is the best way to do this. But just as Livestream has gotten better over the months, maybe people can help get this working just as well. Anyways, good luck with this, and maybe some of you will decide to start using Justin.tv or switch over to it. Whatever it may be, I hope this guide helped.

Please give me feedback on my stream, see if I can make it better, if it's laggy, too slow, etc. Then I'll try to incorporate it into the guide.

My stream is http://www.justin.tv/archaictv
EDIT: I'm D+/C- Zerg, if anyone wanted to know.

Btw, there is no resolution or bitrate limitation in justin tv. You could stream whatever you want. If you're into HD, you could stream 1280*720 at 5000kbps and justin tv will rebroadcast it. Livestream caps streams at 500bkps.

But you need to be aware that some people have bad connections and can't handle your awesome looking stream.

It's nice having no bitrate/res cap, the only issue is with connections and when you're streaming for the public. Those Aussies have some terribad internet connections. I find that 500 kbps is generally good enough to satisfy most viewers.

Good luck with your stream though.

Is there a viewer limit?
Is there VOD saving similar to Livestream?

Quite frankly, I don't think my Internet can handle the stream. I will try to keep streaming when I upgrade my Internet, but as for right now, I was streaming at ~450 Kbps, and extra high latency, and still lagged in a 1v1. But, anyone watch me play that ZvZ, and willing to tell me anything about the stream quality, or something like that?

EDIT: Pachi, I don't believe there is a viewer limit, but I think I only had... about one or two people watching concurrently. As for VOD, I'm not sure. I don't think so though =\. To be honest, I think that Livestream is better, but I think that some effort should be given to use justin.tv.

EDIT2: Anyways, I'm going to go play another game. Please leave feedback, because I can't watch while I'm playing, for a variety of reasons. The main one being lots of lag.

No viewer limit, people have to log in to chat, and you can hand out real bans and timeouts. There's also a slow mode where people can only type one message every 1 minute or so.

Yeah the quality can be decent on Justin.tv .

The only big downside to Justin.tv is their 'Your country has exceeded its viewer limit' or whatever it was. That message comes up for me 1/3rd of the times I visit a justin.tv stream :O

Well Since justin.tv is sponsoring a tourny,

Can TL.net mods make it as a requirement that if you want TL.net to show your streaming link on TL.net it has to be from Justin.tv?

I think that would be awesome.

It happens to Belgium people. They show you that message and then lead you on to pay to watch streams in Justin tv.
