Kespa ranking #4 Stork gets to play Amateur 2, the weakest player in the tournament in first round Kespa ranking #5 Hwasin gets to play Amateur 1, the second-weakest player in the first round Kespa ranking #6 Iris plays Kespa ranking #23 Nal_Ra (24 is Midas, so Nal_Ra is lowest possible) Kespa ranking #7 FireBatHero plays Kespa ranking #22 Anytime ... and so on
Oov as #1 gets bye and has Kespa #13 Much and Kespa #14 UpMagic to keep him company, and so on; pretty much, this is a straight 32-man tournament with normal seeding, except that #1-6 get bye instead of an opponent in the first round.
edit: Ah, as noticed in the other thread, Light, Pusan, and Bisu are all in the same group--only one will advance to round of 8. The rigorous seeding process assures that the organizers aren't trying to rig things up to screw over teams, but isn't this just great for MBC? T_T
On the plus side for them, Sea's against Silver, and Monty Hall's not in the map pool. And if Nada really is slumping, the team at least has two players in Ro8.
wcg korea for me, is one of the best events in the world. Including the pro leagues etc.. I just love the atmosphere and the strategies they come up with on those maps.
When I look at the 6 seeds list, I can't help but smile... 6 glorious names! I'd rather see them play each other over and over again than watch WCG at all :-)
Does anyone know who byulgolover is? His name is 김주업 (Kim Joo-Up), and he's a zerg user from clan T3. He and DeviL[fOu] (Z) are the two amateurs who will play in the qualifiers with the progamers.
savior nada and bisu...yeah i'm biased...you could probably have iris instead of nada based on current form...that way you'll have the top players for each race atm??? correct me if i'm wrong

Don't put IriS in NaDa's place. At the moment NaDa seem to be recovering, being in OSL and MSL. Statistically he is the best progamer there ever was (until end of 2006, will not change in 2007). Go NaDa! :-)
But you are right, IriS is hot too. IriS/NaDa/Bisu or NaDa/sAviOr/Bisu.. gogo!
also explain why the only oov vs july game takes place during the day of the finals, and why o why arent the actual wcg maps (gaia, pa, azalea) played until the day of the final 06-08-05

sry ure wrong
Hm.. ok my bad. 2005 they played wcg maps. Gaia Estrella Azalea.. Sorry-.-'
well oov > much light > bisu midas > free midas feels no pressure now so its monster time for him... gogo light~~~~~ bisu will show us one of his mediocre moments and show why he is nowhere near ever achieving a status like savior -_-

Free is a macromachine, this is what makes him so good. Versus Midas - who is a macro machine, hell yeah - won't help him that much. Also Midas timing and harass are great.
Does anybody realize how sick the current field of players left (still in Ro32 even) is? Oov, Much, Hwasin, Iris, Ra, Savior, Yarnc, Bisu, Light, July, Jaedong, Xellos, Stork, FBH, Anytime, Midas, Free, Nada, and Sea? I guess when you invite top 24 KeSPA to play, you don't let any chumps slip through the cracks by luck, like for some Starleagues.
I will cheer for Anytime, Nada, and Savior throughout this WCG because that is the line up I would like for the Korean Team to be. I guess seeing Kang Min or Sang Wook will be cool too.
Usually I don't care who makes it, but this year I will be getting pictures and autographs (if they are nice enough) so cmon Bisu, Savior, and Ra or Midas~!
iloveoov 2-0 Much Just because it's oov, and I don't like Much's playing style. HwaSin 1-2 Nal_rA Nal_rA has been showing some nice PvT (vs Iris lately), whereas Hwasin is 2-6 TvP lately
sAviOr 1-2 YellOw[ArnC] Yarnc's ZvZ is godly lately. 10-1 ZvZ last 11 games. The 1 loss game from a 2-1 series win over GGplay. On the other hand, this is savior's worst matchup. Bisu 2-0 Light It's Bisu. Light has been inconsistent as of late.
July 1-2 JaeDong Jaedong is 18-5 ZvZ. How can you argue against that? Plus Julyzerg took a grandtotal of ZERO games in a BO5 with GoRush. Stork 1-2 AnyTime Yeah, I realize that stork just beat anytime in the Proleague finals. Hoewver, we know Anytime is plenty capable of beating good protosses, like vs Bisu (who beat Stork PvP in BO5 in MSL finals) in the semifinal proleague match. Furthermore, WCG will take place in OCTOBER. what does this mean? Autumntoss is ready to get some action!
Midas 2-0 Free Midas doesn't choke at this point in tournaments. NaDa 2-1 Sea NaDa has been showing some great results lately, cruising through Survivor and ODT with 2-0 records in both. Sea on the other hand just lost to LIGHT and DARKELF in TvTs, eliminating him from survivor.
It's almost as if they're conspiring to kill Savior and the MBC team off now.
oov 2-0 Much Hwasin 0-2 Nal_rA
Savior 1-2 YellOw Bisu 2-0 Light
July 0-2 Jaedong Stork 2-0 AnyTime
Midas 2-0 Free Nada 2-1 Sea
Fairly straightfoward, I feel. However, I wouldn't be surprised if Light, or Hwasin take a game. I hope Anytime gets crushed, if only so he'll wake up and realise trying to dominate tournaments only in the Autumn stage doesn't cut it anymore.
Yellow (original!) and Boxer should have a standing invitation to all WCGs without having to go through qualifiers. Both should represent Korea every year so long as they're able.

This should be 5 PM CET. The problem is, I really can't imagine that the koreans will play @midnight.. oo;;
It's because the calendar time settings had to be readjusted after Saro changed the TL.net time to Korea Time, but it seems PoP has taken care of it by now.

I pm'ed him to ask about. Thank you anyway :-) TL.net doing a great job^^
there is one thing that is very funny about wcg (correct me if i am wrong), there is 3 guys who will represent corea so the match for the 3rd place will be more important than the match for the first place
On August 11 2007 01:16 Woyn wrote: Oov Savior and Anytime for WCG please
OOv looked so strong at WCG. His play was so confident and nearly flawless in last year's WCG. It seems like he does well when expected to do well. (unlike Midas and Silent_Control).
I think the players best suited for WCG is OOv, Savior, Nal_rA, AnyTime, Sea, Bisu and NaDa.
Much, Hwasin, Yellow[arnc], Light, Jaedong, Stork, and Free just don't have that star quality of the above players yet.
If it were based on skill and who I thought would win at WCG for sure, it would be OOv, Savior, NaDa, Bisu and Jaedong. Any of these guys can go to WCG and undoubtly could win against any foreigner player without question. Damn, my answers are so vague. I can't pinpoint my selection on less than 3 players. Everybody is getting so good these days.

I think July has as good a chance of winning WCG as anyone else. I am pretty sure Sea will destroy NaDa in their upcoming match, although it is difficult to predict these days.

I'd really like to see Free pwn some poor foreigner Terran's face with 2 gate range or eat some Zerg alive, but I think Sea needs to win something for once and get some attention.
WCG 2007 winners for the world, not just Korea, are either going to be sAviOr or Sea. I don't see anyone else doing it.
Unless sAviOr and/or Sea get screwed in Korea, which is always a possibility against other top Korean pros, but I just don't think Light has it in him and sAviOr is looking hot lately and seems like he wants to win WCG. Free's PvT you just never know really but Sea is clearly the favorite.
NaDa! NaDa! NaDa! oh... oops k then: sAviOr! sAviOr! sAviOr!
ps bloody crap how the hell did Bisu lose the first match that wasn't a bye for him! sooooo glad to see FBH out tho; looks like the Brood War karma is absolutely slaughtering him
I hope for sea/stork/savior at wcg. Since taking savior out as some kind of "chance" for non koreans is completely futile, we might as well experience the greatest ever first hand!
I AM SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW FOR HWASIN. i cant believe he will make it that far. dream come true. i only pray now for him winning wcg 2007. hwasin my prays are with you are the man! <3
he is anytime a-like just look at him and his two teams: lecaf STX.
I hope Hwasin doesnt take WCG title, I have nothing against him but I have enough of Terran winning the WCG (and dominating most everything else). If either Stork or SaviOr wins then theyd be the 2nd of their kind to win the WCG.
