Interesting Statistics: Guybrush found some very interesting matchup statistics. Here they are!
Matchup Results from Preliminaries, Survivor Groups, and current MSL TvZ: 37-24 ZvP: 28-9 PvT: 23-13
Results and Standings of Group of 16 Play (16 강): There is a very very confusing process on how the groups are selected. The players are ranked 1-16. The top four are separated into Groups A-D respectively to their seeds. The bottom 4 get separated into their groups. Then going from 12-5. Those players put themselves in the group they want to go in. But here's the catch, as the rankings go higher, they can choose to switch spots with anybody. Crazy huh? Lastly the top four seeds get to pick their opponent. Not enough? You figure it out!
Now that the groups are selected, they will play 5 weeks of group play. The top two will advance to Group of 8 play. 2-0 automatically gives you first from your group. 2-1 Gets you second in the group. Week 1: Round of 16. Groups A and B's first two games Week 2: Round of 16. Groups C and D's first two games Week 3: Losers' Match for all groups Week 4: Winners' Match for all groups Week 5: Game 5 for all groups (Winners of Week 3 vs Loser of Week 4) aka Decisive Match

Results and Standings of Group of 8 Play (8 강): HonestTea honestly rocks my world. There will be two groups. 1st group will be A1, B2, C2, and D1. 2nd Group will be A2, B1, C1, D2. Players who got first in their groups gets to thumbs down a map like in WC3. So that means those who advanced first out of their group of 16 get to choose a map that will not be played in their matchups. The first two games are best of ones. The losers games will be best of 3, as will be the winners and the tiebreak.

I am excited for/care for both leagues just the same as each other really. Can't think of any game bigger than the upcoming Boxer vs Chojja. Mouriner made the MSL results page a few days ago but this is much better.
Reach has a pretty good chance of advancing. If he can't beat IPX this Wednesday, he'll still have a very good shot against Kingdom.
Same with ChoJJa. Even if Boxer takes him out this Wednesday, he'll still have a very good shot against Gorush.
The rA / Stork / oov group is extremely unpredictable. I can see any of them advancing and any of them not making it.
Midas and Yooi should be the favorites to advance in the last group.
I'd edit out the Spoiler warning, if anyone, who doesn't want to be spoiled is actually stupid enough to open a thread called "Pringles MSL Results and Standings", well they deserve it.
This msl is looking extremely exciting so far, I'm so looking forward to the Boxer-Chojja game!
thank you very much, also, this is very helpful, I'm getting more and more involved with the Korean Programing Scene and I love to see "overall" things like this, they help youa lot ;P

If English is your first language you are a bad writer. It's disjointed, rife with spelling and grammatical errors, and in every sense a chore to read.

The very least you could do is spell-check.
It isn't, and I will have that in consideration next time. Thank you

Jesus, welcome to the real world, where not everyone speaks English flawlessly. By the way, if you're trying to come across as impressive by using words such as rife, disjointed, etc, then don't say his English is "bad" lol
I'm thinking ChOJJa, Reach, Oov, and Yooi will advance. The first two is very shaky though. I'm pretty sure GoRush is preparing like crazy for his game against ChOJJa and Kingdom has an extremely good PvP that just needs to get back to its old form.

Nada did that I think? He also won the iTV starleague at the same time iirc. Grand chelem. :o

Yeah, nada did it a couple of years ago beating chojja both times.

If I remeber correctly he wasn't so far.
When he won his MSL he was second on OSL (losing to Kingdom) and he won the OSL right after while placing 3rd (vs Kingdom again who then lost to Oov) in MSL

1. The first matches of the Round of 8 are not Bo3, they are Bo1.
2. For the first matches in the round of 8, the players who advanced first get to "Thumb Down" a map in their matchups.
For example, Nal_Ra (C1) will face Chojja (A2) Bo1 in their series.
Nal_Ra gets to pick a map to not be used in their match up. (He Thumb-downed Rush Hour 3) He gets this privledge because he came in first in his Round of 16 group.

no way, he lost one of them to GoRush didn't he?
Nada won MBC, ogn and GhemTV in the same YEAR (referring to pop's post), I don't think they were done back to back, right?

NaDa did win the tournaments back to back if you count the KPGA Tours that preceded the MSL. He won the KPGA 4th tour and then the Panasonic OSL right after. Both finals against Chojja.
Just watched the Nal_Ra vs Chojja game. Nal_Ra did the best push out in pvz I've ever seen. He was being contained by lurkers, hydras and scourges. It was virtually flawless and it looked like he practiced it a 100 times and was doing it in his sleep. It's worth the watch and would be catorgized as a pimpest turning point of a game if there was such a thing.

Her name is Seo Jee-soo, apparently you're kind of new to the StarCraft world. She is hands down the best female StarCraft progamer (not to mention best looking =D). Apparently she pwned YellOw 3-0 in the WCG 2005 Korea Qualifications. I hope that's enough of a reason that she has a legit amount of skill. I actually made a sort of tribute photo post thread of Tossgirl. The first two pictures are of her younger sister. Sadly some fags wanted to post some fat ugly women in the thread so just ignore those. Tossgirl picture thread
The games are starting in a few hours and I've noticed that a Pringles MSL - 6/1 Winner's games thread hasn't been started yet.
Here's just a preview of the games for someone who wants to start the thread: These matches are best of three, winner advances to semifinals, loser sent to Tiebreak Match against the winner of the Loser's Match.
Group A Winner's Match BoxeR vs Midas (loser plays Kingdom, winner -> semis) Game 1 @ 815 III Game 2 @ Rush Hour 3 Game 3 @ Pringles The Eye
Group B Winner's Match
Nal_rA vs Yooi (loser plays IPX, winner -> semis) Game 1 @ Arcadia Game 2 @ 815 III Game 3 @ Pringles The Eye
My best of luck goes to none other than the old schoolers BoxeR and Nal_rA. 임요환 화이팅! 강민 화이팅!

I'd like Ra to take it but it's going to be incredibly hard for him. Map pool could be worse but it's not like there's guillotine and HoV in it either.
Savior is a fucking ZvP beast, maybe even more consistent that July himself ( who got gayed by rainbow in wcg prelims, shame on him -_-; )
I'm going to vote Ra anyway because I'm such a rabid fan of the dreamer but I don't see him winning this, no matter how godly he currrently is :/
On June 26 2006 02:15 SuperJongMan wrote: That's not an advantage... to be undefeated is a nice mental edge but Ra's latest PvZ memories aren't as nice as IPX's
Proof of what? That Savior's ZvP has been a lil better than Ra's PvZ statisically? I don't do that. I watch games and notice weaknesses and strenghts in player games. Anyways... Ra's latest elimination was at the hands of Jju in OSL. Before that he did beat Stay and Zergman... but we expect him to. That's the equivalent of IPX losing to Terato or Free. While Ra lost Ra hasn't been playing for shit in PL that I can recall.. at least not 1v1. Ra's MSL group was 3P's and Oov. Then he beat Jja once, who has according to my memory been historically weak against Ra. Then Savior on the otherhand, beats Rainbow in what I guess is a game that Rainbow coulda won if he didn't suicide reavers on ... and he also lost to Reach's proxy gates... Besides that, I don't think he has lost a ZvP in ages. Ra HAS lost a PvZ within ages... That said, and considering I think Savior's overall ZvP game > than Jju's, marginally. And the fact that The EYE is an MSL map... points my brain towards IPX as MSL winner...
But I believe in Ra and the whacky shit he will come up with. However, I do consider Ra the major advantaged when facing off vs his KTF Zerg brethen from familiarity alone.
Oh yeah, he lost a 815 game to Child... -_-;; Ugh. But whatever, Ra is Ra and you can't dismiss him ever.
I find it quite interesting that it was made up of 8 SKT Telecom players (half the total number) and none of them made it to the finals... (tho 2 in the semis)
Yeah all the SKT1 players just ended up going against eachother. Boring for the fans, I swear those fools just pre-decide the matches and throw games.
I see the final as like... If Ra wants to play his usual way with odd strats, he will end up opening odd 5 games in a row, and if they are a success he will win and if not then any game he screws up on Savior will take it. I wouldnt count out him coming to this series with really standard play though. Keep in mind that Ra and IPX were on GO(Now CJ) for a short time together I believe, they have definitely played before and probably a lot.

Sigh... I kept saying that in my church when Ahn Jung-Hwan came out to play.
Ahn Jung-hwan, I BELIEVE!!!!!!!! 2002 AGAIN!!!!!
Sadly, the Swiss got another goal despite some controversy over an offsides call (I guess Korea's wins some offsides calls and loses some like Italy 2002)
Good thing rA has so much time now to completely dissect the map to exploit every strategic detail. expect fireworks in the final, it's gonna be great- both players boast the most elaborate and intricate PvZ/ZvP. So amazing Savior's made three MSL finals in a row, what a monster.
Dare I say the maps the quite good in P's favour this MSL. I've seen insane displays of PvZ on all of these maps by rA.... But then again I've also seen insane displays of ZvP on all of thse maps by Savior. Maybe theyll go 2-2 and draw the last game and share the honours :p

Hey, did i miss anything? Congratulations to FB on joining the TLnet team? I'm on my business trip to Poland at the moment, so i guess i just didn't catch the moment... BTW why do polish waiters always bring me huge portions of food when i order something at the restaurants? I've never ate that much!
