I was in the middle of a game, and all the sudden the mouse just stopped working properly.

~~Pretty sure there used to be a red light and laser on all the time, but now there is nothing.~~ It's weird, I can move the mouse around and get normal response, but the left click seems like it just died. And it's only intermittent, sometimes I can click but if I sit there clicking over and over it won't click sometimes.

It could be that the plastic just wore down, and the click is weak and I need to press harder. But I've had that happen lots of times and it was never so abrupt like this.

also when I drag for selections, it just cuts out and restarts and starts dragging from whereever it left out.

yea, like I said, the thing works, but it randomly doesn't work.
And no, I lost really bad in a ZvZ where I was trying something new.

try using a different USB slot. It might be your USB slot that's busted

try a different computer, that will rule out more things. If it still doesn't work and your mouse is within warranty, contact logitech online,give them ur serial number (back of mouse), and bam, u get a new mouse in a few days.

If it's broken, just call logitech, they'll most likely send you a new mouse without you sending in the broken one.

edit:

I don't think my G3 has red light, but I could be wrong (I'm on my laptop).

Exact same thin happened to my G3 a few weeks ago. I just started using my old mouse which is now more reliable. Genius GM-04003A

ok, so trying a new port and it seems to be working right now, I'll give it a day then see about calling logitech http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?id=56599

If it is the port, how do I fix it, or what can i do?

edit- shit it's still doing it. I'm starting to think there is some kind of failure with the button itself, either mechanically, or some kind of short.

ok so i brought it to work and have been using it all morning. And i've noticed that it seems to be doubleclicking really fast, as well as not letting me hold down a click. I'm just gonna warranty this.
Kinda weird, I've only had this mouse since xmas or so.

seems that logitech changed their phone number for tech support
it's now 646 454 3200 (previously they were in Vegas, now in NY. Why i'm telling you this i don't know)

Wtf, they fucking need a receipt to be faxed now in order to get a replacement. That's so bullshit

They never asked for it for the last 2 times I did it. And this time I can't even provide one because it was a Xmas gift (and I have the receipts for the other ones).
Fucking stupid razer viper mouse that im using now sucks cocks.

edit- Does anyone know if you can get an invoice sent from a year ago from Amazon.com? grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr can't play sc2
