Your family is struggling financially and you cry about losing your phone? Especially since you're dad is using it for a legitimate reason and not just taking it away from you forever. This is definitely not fml worthy. More like a rough patch of grass you gots to mow.

My mom lost her job because of the american dollar. My dad can't work because of serious medical issues, we've been living in a shitty apartment for years now. My parents could never even afford presents like Cellphones for me. We barely have enough money for taxes + food for the week. -_- People like you sicken me.

You have to be kidding me Why don't you get some cash and buy the phone yourself if its so important to you? All you asked for is a computer, internet, and a smartphone? First of all that's already a fucking hell of a lot (more than I have, by personal choice), and second of all, that's fucking bullshit. You have a place to live, food to eat, people that love you and a fucking easy life.

And Jesus Christ people saying stop complaining, and then the others calling him an asshole, did you read his posts? What I read was that he's in a bit of a shock that he got his phone taken away (imagine if you got your internet/car/something valued taken away suddenly, you'd be in a bit of a shock too), he told us his dad quit because he didn't like his job, and he finds that ironic because his dad told him that you have to put up with things you don't like. Is that really so much complaining?

My company (building construction) has forced me to work 10days out of town, and 4 days intown for the last few years now, and let me be one of the first to tell you that it is really horrible to constantly be away from the things you love and care about. Family and friends, your spouse, and everything you worked towards and purchased. It's like all this stuff I have now doesnt really feel like it's mine, and that im really only visiting my apartment, and it's back on the road again. What im getting at is don't be soo angry at your father. Working on the road , especially for 15years really has a toll on someones life. Maybe he wants to be back with his family for a change, rather than be a person living outside of the loop. You should never complain about such things. It could be soo much worse, and losing a phone that you didnt even pay for in the first place is nothing. You're 15, go out and get a part-time job and work towards your own things. This way not only will you appreciate what you buy alot more, but you will also see what its like to be in your fathers shoes (minus all of that terrible time away from home).

Really though, I'm sure you have heard this a million times before and I'm a huge hypocrite for even saying it, but SAVE MONEY when you do get a job! 10% is nothing out of your paycheck even if you are making minimum but it adds up so fast and is a LIFESAVER when say, your car breaks down, twice. Having a job is awesome.

Stating you are poor is an intentional exagorition I supose and not an ignorant one. Being poor is not being able to get: Food, shelter, clothes to wear, medical care and basic transportation to go to school/work. What you need to sustain a situation staying safe and healthy. I don't agree with the $2 a day. It is taken out of context. It is enough to get by in India maybe but not in other countries. The homeless in the Netherlands have to pay 8 Euro for a bed and breakfast and they get kicked out for the rest of the day. Otherwise there is to little incentive for some of them to change their lives because some choose to be alcoholic bums.

But seriously, you do have to understand that shit has an interesting way of pouring in seemingly uneven periods of one's life. I'm quite surprised you're actually more concerned about you losing your phone than the fact the main source of income in your family is gone. oh and you're life isn't over. If you're going to lose friends or your social life will get damaged because of you not having a phone and being "poor" then you didn't have a social life to begin with.

It's so obvious you're either lying, completely stupid and misunderstanding the situation, or just stupid. Go get a job if it bothers you so much that you are "poor." You don't even know what poor means. You don't even know what working IS, let alone have the experience to be ranting about being poor because your expensive ass phone got taken by your dad so he can work. I guess you'd rather have that phone and no food on the table (scratch that, you'll probably say yes to that just to be a spiteful little fool). You're clearly trying to drum up sympathy (a less than admirable trait) but you're too stupid to be consistent so it's too easy to see through your shit. Hell in the sentence that you say you didn't ask for anything you say you did at the end of it. You start your first line with SUPERSTAR SUMMER AWESOME then say you're "poor" so now somehow summer sucks. Worse than FML? Because your fucking phone is gone? LOL. Have some fucking perspective, kid, your dad doesn't like being away from his family all the time and he put up with it for 15 years. Comparing you having to do some studying or chores to him working for 15 years and then calling him hypocritical because he told you to do things he doesn't like, ahahahah. That's just fucking ludicrous. However, I do understand that as a kid you don't have the perspective to actually appreciate or understand a lot of things in life. But you can make an effort, dick. Grow the fuck up.

- I didn't get my phone until this year(17yo), so stop whining. Your dad will find another job, and it's not the end of the world you don't have a phone anymore. It may sound harsh, but stop whining. Twilight and this are actually very similar in that if this happened to the main character of Twilight, this is the type of thing I would expect her to do about it: Write a blog. On a computer. With internet access. The blog will be about how she will be unable to communicate with people due to the lack of a cellphone, completely ignoring the very act of how she is communicating her lack of capability for communicating. And then she would state something along the lines of, "And I'm totally poor because it turns out all my money is in a trustfund and I can't have it for a few more years". Because that was basically the plot of Twilight : "I'm an unattractive person and no one will ever like me. Now listen to me whine about how much my life sucks while simultaneously bragging about how awesome it is. I don't have a car... I have an awesome truck!. I'm also totally lying about being ugly because every male figure in this book tries to fuck me at least 3x, even ones that only saw me from a few miles away. What I really meant is that I would only settle for unrealistic, preternatural attractions to supernatural creatures, and there weren't any of those at my old school, or the ones that were there were smart enough to avoid me. And of course, the only reason the one I picked is alright is because he's a mormon supernatural- wait, that's giving away the subtext. I mean sexually abstinent. Er I mean because he doesn't suck blood. Even though I try and get him to every other scene in the book. " Dude, there's things called email, landline phones, and straight up walking to people's houses to punch them in the face or say hello. I mean, even if you have no internet access there are public libraries in the US where you can check your email for free. A person with the OP's personality probably shouldn't have a cell phone to begin with, if they truly are 15 or 16.

First my main concern was that my dad had quit his job. He had a secured position and was doing fine. He had to travel a lot though and that's why he didn't like his job. On Monday he is going to turn in his resignation papers and the process of quitting a job will occur. Now why the fuck would someone give up his job, secured and decent pay, in this economy? I'm no expert because I've never had a job before but I don't think that was a very good decision on his part, stop doing something he doesn't like RIGHT NOW IN THIS FUCKING DEPRESSION. MAYBE EUROPE DOESN'T HAVE A GODDAMN FUCKING TERRIBLE ECONOMY BUT FUCKING AMERICA DOES SO SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU DON'T LIVE IN FUCKING AMERICA AND YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THE DEPRESSION IS BECAUSE I DON'T THINK ANY OF YOU READ THE FUCKING NEWS EVEN GLOBALLY. MAYBE ALL YOU DO IS SIT ON YOUR COMPUTER TROLLING RANDOM PEOPLE AND PLAYING STARCRAFT FUCKING CUNTS. My dad has strong beliefs and keeps to them. Why all of a sudden would he give up his job now at this time? He has always said he doesn't like to work at his job but he does it anyways. Now he is quitting with no future jobs in plan. i would understand if there was a position that opened and he had a decent chance to get in and therefore he quit his job, but there's nothing. Last part is that I was upset with getting my phone taken away for "work purposes" simply because the fact that my dad is going to lose his phone with his job and he is taking mine yet he will still have no job. Therefore I saw taking my phone away as a stupid strategic action that gave no gains to anything. If it was fore somewhat useful purposes, I would have gladly given it up to help the family. The logic in this move is simply retarded and a blind leap of faith. My parents also don't happen to believe that America really is in a depression so that might have had something to do with their thought process. I'M NOT A FUCKING SPOILED CUNT WHO IS SELFISH ABOUT MY INTERSTS. YOU CAN'T GO ON MAKING FUCKING ASSUMPTIONS ABOUT SHIT YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT, but I can't help but question the fact that the not only mine, but my brother, sister, mother, father, AND grandparents are all in danger because my dad quit his job. We would have to relocate and move somewhere else, BUT THE HOUSE MARKETING HASN'T BEEN DOING SO WELL I HEARD. That would put the family in a huge deficit. My dad said though that he has about a month before the money runs out, and even then we would have to cut on spending(as if my parents buy anything anyways), and the spending includes school supplies, clothes(getting outgrown), food, and other stuff that makes life a "luxury". YOu dont have to take ALL these sciences you can major in just one or maybeeee even two. There are people who have majored in english and stuff and have got into medical school ( Although rarely ). My advice is just to focus on the work that u have in the present and if you get good grades, your set!

Hmm, just because my parents are pushing me to become a medical doctor I have a few questions haha. Anyway, just how is the course load? Is it as hard as everyone says it is? How's the culture? Very cut-throat? I'm kind of squeamish so I might not do too well with the blood haha...how much blood is there during medical school? When did you take your MCATs? What did you think? Are all you need to know gen physics, gen chem, orgo, calc, writing, molecular bio, genetics, and microbio? How should I prepare? Judging from your questions your probably a senior or a freshmen in university. Dont worry about it, just do science courses, get good grades and prepare for your MCAT. YOu dont have to take ALL these sciences you can major in just one or maybeeee even two. There are people who have majored in english and stuff and have got into medical school ( Although rarely ). My advice is just to focus on the work that u have in the present and if you get good grades, your set! Haha cool. I'm actually double majoring in both statistics and biology...hopefully that'll give me something interesting to write about for admissions essays. (also I like statistics).

Oh I'd completely agree in that China is about as far from democracy as any country. (kinda). I don't see it changing any time in the near future. My point is that communism is, at its core, a selection of political ideas on how to govern a country. Just because a country is communist doesn't necessarily mean that it's going to have human rights violations, no freedom of speech, etc. It just so happens that in the most prominent examples of "communist" countries such as DPRK and China, they do occur.

By the way dont get me wrong. i love chinese people and the culture and have tons of chinese friends. I just dont agree with their political views. I don't think anyone outside of the Chinese gov't agrees with the govt's political views, lol. I was only saying that China is not "truly" communist, but then no gov't ever has been since it's an unachievable ideal. I was mocking the fact that they still try to call themselves that when it's more like...I don't even know. This isn't really my strong point, haha. I don't think I'd categorize North Korea as communist either...more like a dictatorship. Oh for sure. There are a lot of elements of the Chinese government that hardcore communists would find downright confusing and in conflict with communist ideals. As for North Korea, same deal. As for my medical school questions, I don't really want to be a practicing doctor, but just have the M.D. degree. In lots of pharmaceutical companies, for example, having an M.D. puts you on an entirely different pay level than just people with masters or bachelors. Same with having a Ph.D. That being said, I can realistically see myself doing statistics, but with something related to the healthcare field, in which case an M.D. would be not only useful on a daily basis, but also a career leveraging point. In the off-chance you still read this thread. I think you're overreacting, at least try talking to your dad to see his plans, it seems you're assuming entirely too much. Also, if it isn't too much bothersome to get a job and buy yourself a phone , not having a phone doesn't necessary mean not having a life- you said so yourself, school starts soon, and you can make friends there, plan dates to hang out or whatever. So summer came to an end with me thinking "superstar summer wasn't that bad." then the a bomb came. My mom told me my dad is quitting his job. On monday. In two days. So there goes his car(company car) phone(company) and job. For "work " purposes he is taking away my phone for his use. My fucking phone that I got in may, one of the best presents ever. Its gonna be gone. So now schools gonna start my dad will have no job and I will have no phone and no life. Worse then fml. I'm still in shock I think this is why people took you as spoiled, the bolded part. fairly sure anyone who insulted you has had worse things happen to them, and probably shrugged it off and moved on, and sneer at the thought of someone who merely lost a phone falling to pieces. Not that this is entirely true- though your reaction that got you banned makes me skeptical, but it was merely a huge misunderstanding(?)- and who can blame them? you have [x] a shitty record with the entirety of TL [x] a tendency to react poorly [ ] good effort put into blogs to offset this 100% guarantee if you explained your situation and made your blog longer, as well as thinking about certain things before you post, people would have been more understanding and not accused you of various things that led to you overreacting. Obviously you were upset and just quickly spammed this out without much editing. so some advice, in the future, Put more effort into your blogs this way you won't be misunderstood or whatever else. Personally, myself , you come off as very spoiled and the thread title "my life is over. im "poor"" is quite funny to me. i worked to support my parents and paid for my college tuition out of my own pocket - scholarships/fasfa , etc. I never considered myself to be poor. I had a decent childhood and an average middle class life up until 2 years ago- and working proved to be a valuable life experience regardless.

We are in a recession. You will know when we are in a depression when you see people in line around the corner at soup kitchens, unemployment at 15%+, and consumer spending drop significantly coupled with a tanking of the stock market to levels that would be shocking to say (below 4000). I guess you bought into the Obama rhetoric without looking at the facts of the situation. Man, this depression is so difficult, those 3,000,000 visitors to Las Vegas last month (I was just there, was on the news) surely are indicative of the strenuous/desperate times we are in. Read up on the Great Depression please. Read up on the recession of the 70's under Carters watch. Other than that, I have no idea why your father would do that to your family. He must not care that deeply about your familys well-being. Self sacrifice for your family is what a father and husbands job is. It makes no sense.

You steal their glory, but you've never made their sacrifice. DoT? If you didn't happen to notice we are under the umbrella of DHS since its creation. We are also under the Navy and DOD in times of conflict and war. Secondly, we are servicemen and we go through the exact same process as any other branch and we have the second hardest boot camp after the Marines (Marine Corps DI's statement not mine). We also perform a multi-tude of duties that encompass every aspect of military functions. We patrol in the gulf, we train with the Navy, and we also train and instruct other nations forces both Navy and CG. I guess because we aren't combat oriented we aren't a part of the military? Is this your sorry excuse for logic? In summation: Fuck you. Edit: Hey, can you tell me how many Air Force and Navy casualties we've had? The CG has had one, DC3 Bruckenthal who gave his life up the ultimate sacrifice. Did you happen to know the first US casualties in WWII were from the CG? Do you know about the heroic sacrifices of CG personnel in WWII, Vietnam, and every war the US has been in? Of course not.

EDIT: And yet you're posting from Wisconsin. Every time you post about service you make it sound like you're a grizzled vet, but you're not. You're stationed in the Midwest and you have the luxury of listening to Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity on the radio every day, unlike the enlisted men (including CG) who actually protect us. Don't lecture us "civilians" on the tough military lifestyle because you're not part of that, and everyone here knows it.

The whole "OHNOEZ TEH DEPRESHUNZ" rant is BS. Your dad QUIT his job, you said. QUIT. Someone willfully quitting their job (and not someone 'forced' into quitting by shady business practices like a lot of less fortunate people are) has nothing to do with the economy. If you have issues with it, maybe you should discuss it with him and find out what his plans are - he probably has some. Or are you two now on bad terms because he took your phone away? "Last part is that I was upset with getting my phone taken away for "work purposes" simply because the fact that my dad is going to lose his phone with his job and he is taking mine yet he will still have no job. Therefore I saw taking my phone away as a stupid strategic action that gave no gains to anything. If it was fore somewhat useful purposes, I would have gladly given it up to help the family." When you are out of work, a cell phone is a strong weapon in your favor. It can be used to reach you at all times, no matter where you are. Looking for jobs is not something that is done sitting at home on the internet. You are out and about all the time touching base with people, trying to meet up with old and new contacts, trying to get your name and face out there. So a landline is a liability. When someone calls you, it could be important - so important that it could provide you with stable income for the next several years. If you're so willing to help your family, you'd probably have the sense to realize that your dad needs your phone, and you don't.

Shall I go for the more generic "el oh el that doth sucketh"?

I can't believe I missed all this, but it was an entertaining read for the morning, I was so happy to see him have a locked icon, perhaps he may use that time to help his family out instead of complaining about being 'poor'. I couldn't believe what I was reading but after he flew into a rage I just laughed out loud. I hope he reads this thread again and takes a real hard look at himself. (Also of all your terrible blogs, this was your worst one. You hit a new low imo). Edit - damn spelling errors

That is as long as you have been alive. For every single second you've existed, your Father has been there, working to make sure that you've been provided with everything necessary to survive and more. Sounds like you've been living pretty comfortably and if your biggest concern in all of this is that your awesome phone is going to be taken away, you seriously need the reality check that's been given in the responses to your original post. I wonder if you could take a moment to consider your situation from a different perspective. Go here Refugee Camp Online, view the slideshow and read. Now, this may be a wake up call or a great big guilt trip. You could say, well fuck them, all suffering is relative and these people have nothing to do with me. Or you could weigh up how insignificant the loss of a phone is when compared to losses these people have experienced. Empathy and understanding aren't easy things, they need to be developed and if you've never had to live through something that is genuinely horrific then the issues you're facing at the moment may seem like terrible things to you. It could be that you're using your blogs here to provoke people into arguing with you as a way of venting your anger, maybe in real life you're not such a dick and you're genuinely worried about your Father and your family. If that is so, you need to remember that the people here also have cares and worries of their own, they come here to relax and unwind and if you deliberately create provocative posts and respond to their replies with a shitstorm of insults, you're not doing anyone any good. If your blogs really are serious then you need to wake the fuck up and realise that there comes a time in your life when you need to stand on your own feet and be there for someone else. You original post was given in simple terms, you made things seem trivial with your own words so don't expect us to know the exact details of your life, the nature of your relationship with your parents and what you're like when you're not on TL. This is the internet, people will judge on the information you give them and on the way you react to their posts and advice. Being totally honest, in this thread so far, you've come across as a furiously angry little shit who has put more effort into a hideously insulting reply to anyone who felt that your life didn't actually suck than you have into giving people a genuine reason for responding with sympathy and compassion. My advice to you is that you should get the hell off the internet and talk to your Father about this. Listen to what he has to say, ask questions, try to understand how he feels and why he's doing this. He is a human being, a man and more importantly, he is your Dad. He has a right to live his life and to expect support and love from his family when he needs it. I don't imagine that this has been an easy decision for him but consider that if what you say is true, then he's been feeling an incredible weight of responsbility for fifteen years now. He's had to go through the pressure of being a husband, a Father and the provider for your family whilst travelling around and spending time on his own. That can wear a person down both mentally and physically so if his decision is a sudden one then maybe he's concerned about his health. Parents don't always tell their kids everything, they have a tendancy to want to keep things easy and simple. So prove to him that you can behave like an adult, even if you're not quite there yet. Be there for him and for your family. The economy isn't great but work can still be found, it wouldn't be difficult for you to find something to do that could bring in extra money and you could then take pride in the fact that you're doing something positive that will benefit both you and your family. And lastly, people will be a lot more inclined to respond to you with support and understanding if you're willing to take criticism and want to find solutions to your problems rather than seeking unconsidered agreement and a quick sympathy fix.

Grow up you ungrateful ingrate, your father's decisions were made not to spite you. He is smarter, wiser, older, and more responsible than you. He isn't just quitting to fuck with you or ruin your life. Keep that in mind. Also, just because you won't have excess cash laying around doesn't mean your life is over - life is what you make of it. Stop being a pussy. See you in 90 days, hopefully you get smarter when this situation settles and you Basically what Arnic said, I didn't read the thread much just skimmed.

he loses his phone and goes through some shit, then posts here looking for some sympathy and instead gets a storm of disagreement and insults he then proceeds to get upset about it, and gets banned. poor guy if you're reading this blog race, jsut learn from it. the people here may be assholes but they are teaching you a valuable lesson.
