815 is a date with cultural significance for Koreans. Maybe the day when the Korean war ended? Not sure...
Anyway, it's 15th August today and thus 815. Thus the map, 815 in his post.

I still don't get what discussion it's meant to generate but maybe we could mock Racenilatr for not knowing the date.

It's kind of similar to the Jews not being fond of German Holocaust deniers. Only Germany as a state has admitted and attempted to atone for the Holocaust while Japan continues to attempt to deny and minimise what they did to China and Korea. Whereas in Germany it's a crime to in any way try to diminish the significance of their national crime in Japan it's state policy. That pisses people off.

They did live dissections of civilians and soldiers and the worst part is that their scientists were all let off the hook after the war ended, unlike many of the Germans. Also unlike the Germans, their data (which is what got them the deal) was completely useless because they didn't know how to conduct science so they were basically just torturing people. They all should've been fried.

EDIT: Am I missing my infested terran? :o

Living here in Korea for a bit, the whole Korea-Japan thing has struck me as most closely a parallel to Ireland-England, complete with Dok-do as a substitute for Northern Ireland. With a side of inhumane torture the English never really got around to, and no potato famine.

Anyway, Happy Independence Day Korea!

15th of August is the day the Japanese emperor Hirohito broadcasted his speech of Japan`s unconditional surrender to the Allies. Since that preety much ensured Korea`s independence from Japan after 35 years of annexation, it is celebrated in Korea as the day of independence and is thus a national holiday.

Anyway, congratulations to all Koreans on their holiday and I hope they can overcome their differences with the Japanese.

It is my belief that Japan is to blame for modern tensions. Germany showed all of us you can commit crimes against humanity with a certain class and maturity. When caught out gassing millions of innocent civilians you have to own up, admit fault and promise never to do it again. Then everyone says it's cool and not to worry about it and all is forgiven. Japan is like a child caught red handed doing something wrong who lies about it, despite the fact that everyone, including them, know they're guilty. All they need to do is go "yeah, we tortured thousands of innocent civilians to death just to see what'd happen, we invaded China for land, we organised systematic rape and murder against a civilian population just because we could and our treatment of POWs was in breach of every convention of international law, the rules of war, every religion and even basic humanity". Then everyone involved can go "it's cool, just don't do it again" and we can all move on.

But modern Germany doesn't annoy France or Poland because by admitting and apologising for their crimes against humanity they drew a line under the event and moved on. Whereas Japan doesn't admit fault for atrocities on a similar level to the Holocaust and still honours Class A war criminals. And this isn't just winners history, Japan was unequivocably in the wrong in this. For example, to learn more about treating victims of burns they deliberately set fire to Chinese civilians and then cut them open while still alive (after putting them out) to examine the damage. The knowledge that Japan refuses to apologise for shit like that pisses me off, it'd piss me off way more if I were Chinese or Korean.

Then everyone involved can go "it's cool, just don't do it again" and we can all move on.

lol what? German and Japan were both involved, didnt they get a bombed? anyway if germany won the war it would prbably be UK and allies that were the bad guys you know the who writes history

German politicians and society sure... but some Germans want their before-WW2-homes back or even question current borderlines.
Media in Poland were going crazy over that for some time.
Add 20 000 declared neo-nazists in Germany to that.

Yeah, god they did so much shit. Vivisection...they tested bacteria and biological weapons on conscious human beings. They put people on fire, put them in dry cleaners and let them spin around until they died.
Officers inseminated women and then subjected the fetus to vivisection when the child was born.

Also the korean comfort women, that apparently ranged from 10 000 to 200 000 (yeah HUGE margin). Basically korean women that japanese soldiers used as whores. Some of these women are still alive to this day and wants acknowledgement for what they went through. But again the japanese don't care and says it didn't happen.

Me too! Recently, I have been pretty interested in Japanese stuff, especially music and the place itself seems to amazing. I want to visit Japan one day, but I hear it's expensive =T

Yeah I don't understand all the "Koreans-hating-Japan" stuff -_-

It's kind of similar to the Jews not being fond of German Holocaust deniers. Only Germany as a state has admitted and attempted to atone for the Holocaust while Japan continues to attempt to deny and minimise what they did to China and Korea. Whereas in Germany it's a crime to in any way try to diminish the significance of their national crime in Japan it's state policy. That pisses people off.

Well yeah, Japan has got a sense of pride (I know it's not the word I'm looking for). Dunno if our history teacher was making things up but he told us that Japan preserved the bombed parts Nagasaki and Hiroshima just to show to the next generation on how badly they were treated by foreigners....

I'm not touching this subject, only thing I can think of is they got whatever they deserved with that H-Bomb, so it's quits I guess..
I don't think I've ever wished my opponent good luck prior to a game. When I play, I play to win. I hope every opponent I ever have is cursed with fucking terrible luck. I hope they're stuck playing underneath a stepladder with a black cat in attendance a

Let's just take the time to celebrate the person/player rather then the significance of the day

Lol you dick.

Wasn't Britain conquered by the Romans way back when? But that was before it was "the British Empire" or "England" or whatever so I guess it doesn't count.

I think there's enough potential in this thread for asia bashing that Moltke should come in and offer us a lecture on the long history of european nation states.
