Hello,
Im pretty clueless about making websites, but I came with an idea for one. Unfortunately I have no idea how to make it.
Could anyone help me with programming it? Or direct me to some proper forum where I could get help (for free).
I think it could be made in around 5-20 minutes by any decent programmer, or maybe by using some script (to be honest I would prefer a normal website).
Basically what I would like to build is a photo gallery, where people could register (with captcha), add photos, they would be modereted by an admin (me), and published.
In addition the pictures could be commented on (with my moderation).
Google analytics would be a nice addon + some script that would resize the images.
Wonder if anyone knows how to do it, I could draw the website in paint, with the few buttons that I need - could anyone help me with that? I think it has to be made in php+sql, but I have no clue with that.

You can always use a free cms for example Joomla. Cms can make a decent website. Normally, cms always has extension for photo gallery or if you don't like the extension, you could go for a photo gallery script like coopermine or gallery 2. It is also possible to bridge the cms and the photo gallery script.

you are basically going to have to learn to make one yourself
because you are essentially asking for others to work for free, and most of the people that can do what you ask won't be willing to do it for no pay and then have to work with you (ie put up with a lot of changes, adjustments, etc) for little to no gain aside from you saying "thanks i have my website" at the end
this is basically like asking for free money, you are asking some web guy to give you $200 worth of their time. might as well make this blog title "Please give me $200"

If you want to learn php I'd be willing to help you try.
I could also do at least a simple one in php/mysql for some $.

Like 3 years ago I needed to make a crappy program for one of my classes (a crap 'dictonary' ), it took me like 5 hours to make something that would compile, but it didnt work as planned (actually making that crap compile was a big sucess). I asked on a board (not here) and some dude made it in 3 minutes. Yea, just in 3 minutes! So dont be a dick, as I have no clue how hard it is to make, so I just asked. He wrote it in real time, just like me or you write a post.
That Joomla thing that Guilford advised to me seems to be ok. I hope I will be able to make a website using it. If not, well, I will search on some other board. I didnt know that such things exist, so I asked.
PS. Apparently it is absolutely ok, if dozens of D- protoss players ask for the same advice again and again here, but if I need some help/directions it is begging for money.
I can fucking pay for it, but I have no clue how much, just direct me to some "teamliquid of mapmaking or something", perhaps they will even help me for free, just as I sometimes do here. If not they will tell me how much should I pay.

if you are asking someone to create a customized website for you with all these features, there's zero chance for them to do it in 20 minutes -- it would require a decent amount of time, not to mention working with you to make sure you get what you want.
creating websites is a professional service and for someone to take time out to do it for you is basically like asking for free money. my point is you're probably going to have to end up learning it yourself if you don't want to pay for it. don't trivialize it like "oh someone could do this in 5-20 minutes please help" lol.
you really can't see the difference between asking for someone to make you a free website and for D- protoss players asking about builds?
edit: also I don't understand what that last line about witty comments means, is that some sort of insult?

Starcraft is a professional competition and there are people who charge as much as $100 per hour of training. To make matters worse there are people willing to pay it.
And to be honest I dont even know how to start, because I dont know how to program in PHP nor SQL. I had classes of this few years ago and I never learned anything there, but I think that the things I want require like 10-20 lines of code. The scripts are probably copied from internet too, and if you know where to search someone could direct me there.
So yes, in my newbiness I thought that a simple website can be made in 20 minutes. Apparetly they cannot be.
Btw. Aren you a lawyer? Maybe you should charge me for getting a reply for you? Like 5 dollars per each of your (useless) words?

Your reqest, assuming you want a decent quality, would take about 6-10 hours for basic functionality I'd say.

How much would it cost then? Could you direct me to some place where I could search for contractors? I know that accidenture makes websites, but they charge $500 an hour...
I want it to be compatibile with W3C, W4C, WC3, IE5, IE6, bible, tora(kosher), koran(halal) and text browsers of course.

Whoa... Calm down closed. This is a StarCraft website, that's why it's okay to ask StarCraft questions here. It's in all our interests. When you ask us to do something personally for you that doesn't help anyone else on this site, yeah, it is pretty presumptuous.
Still, definitely go to a web-design forum if you want help with this. I'm sure there's a commission section in one of them somewhere.

This statement is stupid and the analogy makes no sense. If someone asks for starcraft advice nobody is a professional strategy forum poster. Nobody gets paid for that. There are professional coaches in korea if you went and asked iloveoov for free advice i'm sure he'd either say "no" or charge you $ for it.

Contrary to what you may think, professionals don't charge for stuff outside their profession. IE if you have lunch with a doctor, or you guys play golf, he won't send you a medical bill. So if I'm a lawyer and I'm posting on a StarCraft forum, why would I charge you money for legal work? That's ridiculous. But if you came and asked me for legal advice, of course I'd charge you for it. Do you really need someone to explain to you how this works?
Asking for professional work = asking for money. Your thread = asking for someone to either teach you how to make a website or program one for you with a lot of features that as someone already estimated, would take time and $. How is this not asking for money then? That's all I'm saying. You don't need to be so defensive.

You shouldn't do that either -- we close those threads and warn people about that stuff. This is a discussion forum, if you really think the major purpose of TL is to help you in your everyday affairs, ie either making you websites or answering your google questions, you have the wrong idea about what the purpose of this website is.

Creating a decent script that does everything you ask for would take more than 20 minutes. At this point I think setting up a db+setting up a framework w/ a default project takes a leisurely 10 minutes.
