A classmate of mine in college organized her birthday barbeque as a sort of a final birthday in Singapore before she goes over to Australia for 3 years to study. Unfortunately, most of us who were invited(my whole class) didn't really like her. She had a strong and offensive personality and loosely said things that will hurt you.. and she didn't really care.
So naturally, many of us were so reluctant to go. In the end, only 8 out of 22 of us turned up. It was a nice group of us and I had a really good time with them in college. They were the bunch that made those days so worthwhile and so meaningful despite having so little time together. Time for study in school was also the time I spent with them.
We all met up early at somewhere convenient for us all and we all chipped in to help make that girl's birthday present. There was so much lamenting during that process. After that, we left for her barbeque.
We didn't really talk to that girl much over there but we had a great time with each other. We told her that we were leaving and left her with our well wishes. Dinner was due so we had a great meal at a nearby place and it was so much fun. After that, we all went home because it was getting late.
On my way home, it just hit me. We were all in such a bad attitude towards going through all that inconvinience to make her that present and to get to her party(the place was quite far away) but if not for her party, we would never have met anyway. Without all that hassle, we would never had such a great time together.
Just a really nice thought that I would like to share.
