I recently played a korean who's game name was n.die_suuk, and this person was bad compared to other Koreans I've played that are not part of a clan.
Is this person just lying about being in the n.die clan? Can anyone who knows more about this explain how people join these clans?

Edit: Sorry if this wasn't clear, i'm not looking to join any clans cause I'm a D player myself. I'm just wonder how this player got into a clan

a lot of clan members of the well known kor clans aren't fantastic players themselves, there's lots of C and B rank players in them. As a foreigner you can either be a decently good, known foreigner and play a lot with them, or just suck up to the best of your abilities and treat as them though they are the superior race as many foreigners sporting kor clan tags have done in the past.

If you are an A-/B+ foreigner you can join like 99% of the clans.

Even if you are like C <-> B-, very friendly and you speak a bit Korean you might find some clans ( although you probably won't be able to join the best clans )

Oh well he is probably a fake.

I had a fake ]N[exus Id on Europe for example and i'm a noob. :p ( because i played with a Kor who was in this clan ).

generally you can just stats a player to figure out if they're smurfing a clan or not. If they have alot of games played then usually their real / very few games usually means its just a faker. Most good teams like n.Die keep a roster on their website, i dunno what their site is but they probably have a cafe daum site set up. Also sometimes you will find bad players in good clans due to them being let in as an honorary member due to knowing some players or being family etc.

As for joining them its hard to know without asking, some teams accept foreigners, nalteam, byclan, qoo), Victory, and a few others have foreigners in them currently. However some teams dont let non koreans in.

I wanted to apply to a Korean clan once but they told me that I need to register at their Daum Cafe or something, which requires a Korean SSN to register.

when i used to play sc, i just randomly joined west server and met clan leaders or testers in those big channels where there used to be people from all over.

i remember i joined M2M by talking to the leader who spoke very little english. they tested me, i lost but the fact that i was a foreigner who knew some korean interested them i guess. M2M was U-238[GnH]'s first guild. he used to be on hanbit or something. most people probably don't even know who he is

anyway, the second korean clan i joined was through the same process. talking to the leader who knew little english. after a while, i got to know some other members (by speaking the limited korean i know) and i eventually joined

some clans are much much much harder though. for example, there are these team play clans... well back then they existed, i dont know about now since im out of the scene. but clans like B-Blade, Nexus, pfft.... something else i forgot, there were a bunch

but i met a member from one of those team play clans and they had requirements like age, having recommendations from 10 members and being a channel regular for months and months and attending real life meetings. so obviously i didnt get in but yea. some are that extreme; (and that clan had a good number of players too; a few pro gamers having team play aliases)

Why would u want to even join a korean guild. Stroke your ego a little bit? You live in a different time zone, u cant even talk their language so whats the point. Its better if u practice with people that can speak english and around your level. Your wasting your time. Im not directing this at YOU (The OP) but im just saying in general to people.

Because they are a better player?

Rant:
Korean are lucky to be able to played SC in a very supportive enviroment, compared to Malaysia, people are teasing me for playing a 10 years old game seriously. Hell, we only have 1 clan which barely even active anymore. ICCUP and Fishbattle is the only place that I can rely on

Every korean clan has terrible players, the clans are more about community than skill. There's no point joining a korean clan if you can't speak korean.

if i put n.die in the front of my ID would that mean that I joined the clan?

I think if u read the ID in its wholeness then you should be able to understand it.

I've been in 3 korean clans in my time, but all a very long time ago. I was in ]N[exus in like 2004, I was in Joypop in around 2003, and I was in a startup Korean clan called Into. which wasn't very good (but it was nice to be top 3 in the clan haha). I was practicing hard to join Sasin) when I stopped playing for awhile and after that I lost my ambitions to join Korean clans. I never really spoke any Korean, I just played with them. I guess I got in because I beat a lot of players and played with them a lot. I was able to play people from other better clans by working my way up through different clans e.g. joypop -> nexus. I played a bunch of people in [WHITE] too I guess because they were all friends. I also had one really good friend in [ete] named kiki[ete] and I was quite surprised to see 910[ete] in progames because I thought they were a tiny clan with extremely really good players. I learned quite a bit just from gaming and really in SC there's not that much that needs to be said in team and hunters games if both players know what they are doing. I could read a few basic phrases in Korean and say things like gogo, gg, gosu, chobo, let's play, etc, but nothing really complicated. Other than go, you really only need to say shit like 7zg, 5zg, 3zg, bio, multi, etc. I don't think you could ping back then...can't really remember.

Point is at least in my experience if you play a bunch with them, especially team games, not even 1v1s, you can usually eventually join if you are actually decent (at my best back then I guess I'd be around a B rank 1v1 and an A- 2v2). But that's for non-Koreans. If you're a Korean speaker I think you can join those clans even if you suck. There were plenty of suckass Koreans in Joypop and Nexus, but of course you don't really see those cause they always field the top tier in clanwars, just like there are a lot of suckass hunters players in those top Asia hunters clans like SSS, July, Vincent, but you only see the top top players in the clan wars. And if you're a female Korean...you can be like a D- and get into a Korean clan. I remember when I was trying to get into Sasin I played this girl player named Sasin)Angelic as one of my tests and she sucked really bad. That account was the first PGT Olympic rank if I recall, but of course that wasn't her, just someone using her name

There are a lot of kids who are young or noobs who think being in a Korean clan is really cool and I felt that way too, back then, but now I don't really care about that. So really unless you're looking to get hardcore good practice there's no reason to go for it.

Or you could be like cloak aka nextel and just make a bunch of fake names like By.Cloak, IntoTheCloak, and piss off all the Koreans. I remember I was at one point hanging around with the IntoThe clan members and whenever anyone said the word Cloak the current leader (Korean clans cycle leaders, like a diff guy is the leader every few months) would say something like "FAGGOT CLOAK" which was pretty much the only English I ever saw him say.
